NBA 2024-2025

Crazy end to the third quarter, Wemby getting buckets or assists at one end then blocks at the other end for 5/6 possessions in a row. Proper ‘older kid’ vibes

Did everyone see this ridiculous sequence by Wembanyama? For the love of God!!!

3 back-to-back blocks, an assist and a dunk in 1:30 seconds!
He almost had 4 back-to-back blocks but the fourth one was ruled out for goaltend.

Watched it live - it was ridiculous. Just owned the game for a few mins

I've resigned myself to 3rd place in the West and an annoying first round series with LA. That's if Denver doesn't overtake us...

Oh, and never change Dillon

I’m pretty sure we will relinquish the 2 seed in the coming weeks. We have the Cavs again this weekend, and then Boston straight after. At best we go 1-1 over those 2 games, most likely it’s 0-2. Meanwhile you have the Pels and Jazz.

I think Brooks has served his purpose tbh. I like him, he’s been a good vet for the youngsters but I think the time has come for him to move to the bench to accommodate Amen Thompson. I’ve loved watching him act out his villain character in Houston :)

Fox and Sacramento are now exploring trades.

Apparently his preferred destination is San Antonio, to team up with Wemby.

I don’t like the fit immediately, but I do think Wemby would benefit with a point guard who can push the pace.

Wemby is so good, it's going to make stars want to go to San Antonio. I think the fit with fox would be fantastic, wemby draws the big outside the paint allowing Fox to dribble penetrate and finish at the rim (pause).

Agree with @Desert Eagle - Fox and Wemby seems a great fit!

How much would you give up for Fox? I'm thinking the Kings are going to say Castle is the non-negotiable, he must be in the return package. Will Spurs be willing to give him up + another player (Vassell?) + a haul of picks? Plus Fox is going to want to be paid a max contract in 26.

I have no idea, and never get even remotely close to reality when guessing trades. I’m not sure how good the Kings’ hand is though?

Fox wanting to sign a max in 26 also seems a non-negotiable from the Spurs I’d imagine. No way they go through with anything if he his interests elsewhere in 26.

It’s why I think a trade is difficult. Kings don’t want role players, salary fillers plus middling picks for their best player. But I also can’t see Spurs wanting to give up Castle in the package. It’s the same reason Houston aren’t interested. The price the Kings want is too high for what they’re willing to give up.

I think he will end up going to Spurs but Sac are probably going to have to accept Fox won’t bring in a premium young talent plus a haul of picks.

Spurs won’t give up Castle. I imagine this will be centered around picks, Hawks picks are going to be very enticing, they are a middling team this season and could get a lot worse by 2027 too if they trade Trae along the way (which I wouldn’t be surprised with).

Castle + Vassell + picks would be an insane overpay and Kings should cash in within seconds if that offer is ever on the table. I imagine it will be closer to like Keldon, salary fillers and a couple draft picks (one but not both Atlanta’s).

Depends on what the Kings want to do. I assumed if it got to a point where they're trading Fox that they would head into a rebuild, and therefore Sabonis would follow him out of the door shortly after, but it sounds like they want to retool and stay competitive. I don't know what a bunch of picks and a role player is going to do for those aspirations, unless they plan to reroute those picks to Miami to get Butler.

I can understand why they'd not be particularly keen on full rebuild. They waited almost two decades to get back into the playoffs, and only played one round v Warriors a couple of seasons ago. Sabonis is still a fantastic talent and with the right moves they should still be in playoffs contention. Maybe take a year off this year, tank to get a high pick in what is looking to be a stacked draft and then continue being competitive next year, but a full rebuild (which would include trading DeRozan, Sabonis, Monk) is probably not a good idea given their history.

He'll probably not move at all now, or will be traded somewhere else. Could see him in Miami, would be super fun next to Herro and Adebayo. Probably a 3 or even 4 team trade. Like Butler to Suns, Fox to Miami, Beal and a bucket of picks to Sacramento (which would still keep them competitive while allowing them to re-tool in the Summer)... but Beal would not waive his no trade clause for Kings of all places.

I'm quite happy with how the young players have developed this year, they have low minutes but Minott, Clark and Dillingham are showing lots of promises. I wouldn't like it but it makes the risk of not trading Randle less painful.

Yeah I get the reasoning, I just don't understand how far they think they can go with Fox gone, and Sabonis as the centrepiece of their team. Bringing Butler probably keeps them competitive for another year or two, but even with Butler, you'd think they'd still be below Thunder, Rockets, Nuggets, Mavs, Twolves and one or both of Clippers/Lakers.

They seem perfectly set up to be a treadmill team for a couple of years until they finally bite the bullet and rip the band aid off.

For any other team I’d say full on rebuild is the way to go. We’ve been there at Blazers, not that long ago, either stay better than mediocre with Dame or try to get good 3-4 years down the line like Thunder and Rockets just did. For Kings though, they had waited 20 years to be half decent, to dismantle this and give up so fast after their first decent season would just be so depressing.

Also not sure how much Sabonis would actually fetch if they were to trade him. I don’t see that many good teams around league with any real need to acquire him, especially those with real assets to trade… Hawks could use him but they have nothing to trade.
