NBA 2024-2025 ; Lakers Land Luka

It’s so bad that I can’t help but think some shady shit went on behind the scenes between the two owners and the NBA. It’s feel completely rigged.
Or Doncic is just crocked and Mavs know more than we do. But yeah, if that's not the case, it is one of the most baffling deals in the history of sports

It doesn't answer the problem. Even if the Mavs know more it makes no sense to get that terrible deal by not putting him on the block. The other thing is that they targetted a player that has been a crock for most of his career and is now 32 years old with a long contract than Doncic.

I wonder what they get in return for Davis in the Summer. My guess is two first round picks, none of them great but both of them possibly in the teens, from Miami, Rockets or Thunder, and some salary fillers with maybe one reasonably rated young player.

There are quotes of unnamed GMs saying how they would trade everything, now dunno whats their possession to give it a value but i bet there would be teams ready to jump on it, this whole thing is just mental, dunno for whom that guy works but he aint working for Mavs thats for sure.
Harrison has the right to do whatever he likes, yet any bonafide GM would have auctioned Doncic publicly to get the best available / suitable package in return, for the better good of the franchise he works for? On top of that, his stuttering presser and the Nike baggage just add more smoke to the fire: is he working for the Mavs or the Lakers?

With the new CBA, the length of his contract and his injury record I have no idea about how teams will evaluate his worth. It's like Embiid, I don't know how strong the market will be because two years in the second apron and you are in a world of pain. Only the Thunder seem CBA proof in the near future and if they are the only serious landing spot how much can you get?

Outside of that your idea sounds fair, the player himself could be worth it when healthy and at his best.

Denver would have been the most fun. Just imagine!

Indivudally, I prefer Luka and Jokic who is also my favorite player to watch.

But if I had to pair Luka at this point in time and there is only one pick on the table I would still go for Wemby because of his ability on defense and being so spectacular around the rim as well. I mean, Doncic managed to lift value of Lively in his rookie season. With Wemby it would be almost unfair to the rest of the league.. It's just perfect pairing in every sense.

Given their picks position it would have even been better for them to try and court some of the young players with some potential instead, someone that could appreciate in value over time rather than depreciate like Davis will. When Nets traded Durant they got Bridges and Johnson who were going to have good value for a few years.

They could have approached Rockets and see if they could maybe get Green, or at least Smith. Hell, they could have even come to Portland, we would have given them Scoot.

Yep, on the court it makes more sense but just imagine Luca and Jokic together. The amount of pranks and beers...
