NBA 2022-2023

Lebron telling the media he's not sure he'll play next year sounds like a desperate attempt to change the narrative from the sweep to a conversation regarding his playing career.

Reminds me of post conference after the 2018 finals ( the last time he was on the receiving end of a sweep) when he rushed off the court, put on a cast on his hand, and came to the press conference, while everyone in the press room rolled their eyes.

Top 5 player ever but these are the kinds of laughable things you do when you were called 'the Chosen One' from when you were a child.

So Jokic defends Embiid and him winning MVP in post match conference, calling those having a go as mean, thats actually funny specially if you see interview Embiid gave to Shams before 76ers match in Denver that ducked, lobby interview where he was cowardly sending shots at Jokic without mentioning his name directly.
To be fair, Jokic has always been classy (except that moment of madness) while Embiid is a giant baby.

Lebron is one of the greatest player to play the game but at the same time a huge, irritating diva.
There must be a comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo somewhere based on scoring, durability, all-time status, and divaness

For sure. They're of the same ilk. I mean you lose by a sweep, say you might retire although he certainly wont so all the media attention or most of it will be on that instead of talking about Nuggets and Jokić's incredible stats.

That circus shot from Jokic over AD  The whole crowd was in disbelief. Also, DLo with an all-time bad playoff performance overall. That was beyond awful, simply atrocious.

The Nuggets are great, although this was their worst game of the series with Murray/Jokic going on a solo act in the last quarter. Understandable considering they were also running out of gas, so they were leaning on their most favorable route to score (probably the best duo atm in the NBA), but imo they are at their absolute best when all 5 players are involved and firing. They remind me in a way of 2013/14 San Antonio Spurs and their "egalitarian" system with selfless talent devoid of any ego. Just a wonderful basketball team to watch in full flow and for that reason I hope they can go all the way.

As for the Lakers, not sure. They were close in every game and that was a comendable effort. Still, quite fascinating they weren't able to close a single game in the series when they could (even this one when the Nuggets were clearly struggling outside of the 3rd quarter). They got Rui and especially Reaves out of this season, so that's their biggest plus.

Bring on the finals. Couldn't hope for a better one.

Seriously this retirement crap is so shit on the day you get swept. Nba players have the media in their hands and he could put that news out anytime he wants. To give it out now is such obvious trash behaviour

All-time performances from a 2-time MVP yet the basketball world still focuses and rejoices around the fact that the Lakers are out

Don't need any more prove that we are still the pinnacle of basketball.

Seriously, you need to let it go

Is Aaron Gordon chopped liver to you?!?!
For sure. They're of the same ilk.
Uh. Wording. Considering one of them got credibly accused of rape...

If that helps swallow the sweep more easily, by all means :D
We were competitive in all games, but simply lost to a better team. No shame there, proved that we can still hang with anyone in the West.

Considering that by the end of the playoffs DLo,Vanderbilt and Beasley were pretty useless, I wonder if the lakers could have done with Russ. Specially now that we saw the way Russ played for the clippers

And the importance each places on individual awards seems to differ. Embid was a bit nauseating and not entirely classy as he repeatedly took shots at Jokic in his campaign for MVP.

Jokic, on the other hand, couldn't look less bothered if he tried. Someone asked him what the "Magic Johnson conference finals award meant to him" ( ) and he immediately responded with "nothing".

It's all about the ultimate goal and I hope for s good finals.

Yeah because feck the Lakers innit ;)

There will be time to enjoy and praise the Nuggets but Lakers don’t get to just walk quietly into the night after getting swept. Plus we get force fed Lakers chat every single day of the season and the off season. Oh Westbrook stood a meter away from the team huddle? Top of the news agenda and social media chat for days. Oh Lebron farted? Top of the news agenda on national TV and social media chat for days. You can’t be a Lakers fan and complain about the attention after getting swept come on

Nah, that was the drink.

Am talking about the last quarter where they were obviously running the same action with Murray-Jokic 24/7. Gordon made I think 2 points from Jokic assist in that period near the end (big 2 points for the Nuggets as no one aside from Jokic scored from the open play until the end). He was great otherwise, I agree, his best game of the series by far.

Tbf, that last quarter looked more like two heavyweights on their last legs after 12 round of boxing.

The Lakers are lucky that McDaniels thought that he was going to win a boxing match against a wall and that Gobert grew a backbone at the wrong time.

He has it tattooed too

I might be biased as a Jordan fan, but LeBron lacks some 'charisma' IMO. Even though Jordan is a much bigger tool than him, he just came off way more cool.

LeBron's passive-aggressiveness is aggravating to watch and his 'retirement ploy' is another passive-aggressive move imo.

They're so alike in how uncharismatic they are, their 'narcissism' on display and their 'stans' are genuinely insufferable. I actually think Ronaldo is even worse though. I can't see LeBron doing an interview like Ronaldo did, but he did have 'The Decision' and the 'not one, not two, not three' bit. Actually, not sure which is worse. Still think Ronaldo's interview is worse, but it is more fresh.

We would've been in Cancun by mid-April if we still had Russ.

You can't say either one of them is a great guy and maybe Jordan is a worse guy, who knows? Never met and don't know either. Both great players of course. I think the difference is that Jordan is more authentic. He says what he means and means what he says. Good and bad.

Lebron says and does so many things that have the whiff of phoniness about them. Which is not a crime, but it's very aggravating. On the other hand, he's clearly a very smart guy and his story with his friends is like the real-life 'Entourage'. Very admirable how he empowered his guys to become successful themselves.

Jokic comes across as a nice guy, but I wouldn't want to meet him and/or his brothers in a dark alley, especially if I'd pissed them off.

I think he’s more like Messi.

Both are phony as feck.
Yeah, I agree with that. Ronaldo is a self proclaimed narcissist, irritating as all hell, but what you see is what you get. He is a bit of a dick and acts like a bit of a dick. Messi (like LeBron) tries to come across as a nice guy but he is an irritating prick who wants everyone to love him.

Ronaldo is more like Kobe in the sense that they were both very credibly accused of rape.

Seeing a small market team built through the draft make it to the Finals, without mortgaging their entire future draft capital for win-now trades, is refreshing. Well technically Bucks won it just 3 years ago and they were similar to Denver, but they did have Jrue from a relatively big trade. Nuggets are basically purely made of draftees and incremental improvements through free agency (Brown) and trades (KCP, Gordon).

So he’s Pat Bev.

I don't want to speak for @Desert Eagle but maybe he meant centers re the big men comment.

Yeah i was thinking about centers and just forgot Duncan but it's a good correction.

I agree with Robin LFC about the lebron timeline as well. 2 more years the last of which will be a wankfest the likes of which the world has never seen.

It does help, thank you

   you're gonna get "Feck Joel Embiid" written on your tombstone :D

Thats the thing i dont even hate the guy, think he is a great player just dont like some of his traits, shit he does and surroundings just ignore/defend it. All of that represent whats wrong with NBA today or things i find it wrong/dont like.

ESPN is just the worst, for example last night game, those clowns at commentary were talking so much nonsense regarding Lebron in 2nd half, after he scored what 31 at half time, why he doesnt do this, why he doesnt do that, i dont know maybe a 38 year old guy gets tired, you bunch out of context droolers. Argh so dumb

Lebron is CR7

Second best

Extravagant claims about longevity

Spends a lot of money on his body

Self proclaimed GOAT

Big deal made about winning with different teams but still wins less than number one

Etc.

Did you see ESPN's ridiculous analytics about the Heat's chance of beating Boston prior to Game 1 ?
