NBA 2021-2022

I'm really excited with the prospect of having a portuguese in the nba for the first time. Anyone here follows college basketball? What chances do you think Neemias has in the current Kings squad?
Don't follow college basketball but if your boy went to the kings then commiserations.

Will the Clippers finally get it right? They looked so dangerous at times last season, but I can't help but feel they're lacking the right complementary pieces.

Brooklyn will be very hard to stop if they're healthy. Who they can pick up late to add to their run will be crucial.

Surely the Lakers will be good, but the Suns, Nuggets and Jazz are quality teams. I'd like to see the Jazz will it all. Lakers well also be looking for a Blake Griffin type situation, someone to add late for the title run.

Can Atlanta finish in the top 3 in the east? Can Simmons turn it around or will Philly take a second rate haul to get rid of him? Bucks and Nets for the conference finals, injury permitting.

Kahwi is out for the season. Clippers won't be doing much damage next year.

The West is more open than it's been in a long time. The Suns will be good again, the Jazz will be OK, the Nuggets and Blazers will probably flatter to deceive per usual and the Mavs will go as Luka goes. The Lakers, the Clippers and the Dubs IMLTHO are the wild cards. If Klay can get back to where he was before he got injured (the first time) and the Dubs can add some bench strength they could be a contender. As for the Lakers, will they be better or worse with the addition of Russ and can Lebron keep going at the age of 37? Lastly, can Kawhi make it back for the playoffs because if not the Clips are probably not going to make it past where they did this year. All in all, lots of great basketball coming up.

As for the East, probably Nets vs Bucks with Trae and possibly Joel Embiid making things interesting.

I'm looking forward to it already.

Don't see the Mavs making the playoffs. Their roster is shit apart from Luka and Warriors will be back this year.

Jazz are going to fall back to being the 3/4 seed this year instead of being the top seed. Don't see them repeating their ridiculous 3s again. Suns will drop to 3/4 seed as well, I think teams will be aware that we're good this year and we won't catch them by surprise again.

Nuggets are my favourites for the top seed in the West. Jokic will finally have some rest this off season and I think he's going to repeat his MVP performance again. Lakers to be either 1/2 seed, Westbrook is going to be regular season triple double mode and allow LeBron to rest for the playoffs. Blazers, Grizzlies and Clippers to round off the teams making the playoffs.

Eastern conference is irrelevant because it'll be the Nets if they're healthy.

Could be back for the playoffs though with that type of injury if he’s insistent on it. They could still get there without him I guess.

Why would Mavs not make it though? Of teams that finished below them Warriors should be better but that’s about it. With 10th seed getting to play in the play-in and Luka’s record in big games they should easily get there.

I think this is the season where Blazers implode. Front office will still be hesitant to make big moves and Lillard will have had enough (though I still maintain he is part of the reason why they’ve been so slow to move on from some players).

Their roster is shit and Jason Kidd is overrated. There's only so much Luka can do alone with no shooters on the team.

Their roster is basically the same as last year at this point, I think THJ will return. I do agree Kidd is crap. Not overrated though as nobody rates him. Carlisle was of course much better. That may indeed be worth 5+ wins…

Mavs rated him enough to give him the job.

And their roster has been crap even before they drafted Luka with no real improvement. I think Luka's production will take a hit this year because he's basically had no real rest with him playing the Olympics.

Apparently Kawhi is declining his player option for next year - just a formality for a better deal or does he actually wants to hit the market as a UFA?

Woj saying he's most likely to re-sign with the Clips now he's eligible for the 35% supermax.

Makes sense to me, they’re one player away from being the best team. He made a big deal about picking his team it, Balmer is a great owner, LA a great city.

Can’t say I like this Clippers squad though. I love Leonard’s game, I suppose it’s mostly hating Patrick Beverley.

I can't believe that they havent managed to upgrade the roster at all since drafting Luka and instead massively downgraded their coaching. It's like a perfect example of what not to do after drafting a superstar.
I have been a Mavs fan for 20 years but I think Luka would do well to get out of Dallas. This team is going nowhere.

Decline for more money and more years. He'll need the security because he's knees are fecked.

Has a player ever gone from all-star to (potential) minimum guy as fast as Oladipo?

IT, Cousins. All injury related, happens quite frequently. When you are more of a borderline All-Star but not HOF level, you will not get top offers if you are injured. It's only guys like KD or Kawhi who can still be offered max contracts despite being expected to miss another 10-12 months.

Hassan Whiteside went from a minimum deal to a max deal and then back to a minimum. He took about a 23 million pay cut last year.

Cp3 declined his 44 million player option as well. Probably looking for another 30 million plus deal with at least 3/4 years

After some of the interviews that Joe Lacob and Bob Myers have given recently about planning for the future rather than concentrating on the now, there is starting to be some chatter in the Bay Area media that Steph Curry might not be as nailed on to sign his extension as once thought and that he might explore the free agent market in 2022. Lacob has basically said if Steph wants to look around - have at it.

Strong reports today saying he'll sign a 4 year 215m extension(4th being a player option).

Lonzo to the Bulls in a sign-and-trade agreement. 4-year, $85m contract.

It's official now. Man, I'm sad to see him leave, but it was always bound to happen. The silver lining:

Precious Achiuwa is a great acquisition alongside Goran Dragic, of course.

Max for Butler, $90m for Robinson. Heat are all in.

Woj: Chris Paul, Suns agree on 4-year, $120M contract.

Both Robinson and Lonzo seem bad deals that might bite them down the line. Overpaying on both IMO.

I agree on Robinson. I'm a bit biased with Ball but you're probably right.

Mavs still spinning their wheels even with a new FO

Heat can terminate the contract in the third season, may be back loaded.

So signed we have:

Lebron
AD
Westbrook
Ellington
Bazemore
Ariza
Howard

Then:

Schroder we can possibly work out a S+T
THT will probably sign on.

Some UDFA's that might crack the rotation.

Not convinced we get out of the west with that.

Payne on that is really good, McGee seems like a good influence and hyper.
Best part about the McGee signing is that Ayton will finally have someone that can guard him in training for him to work on his post game moves. Really hard for him to work on that aspect when he can basically shoot over everyone else on the team.
