NBA 2021-2022

Happy enough. Obviously would have preferred to trade-up. Suggs at #5 is hard to take. I am high on him. Hopefully Giddey can become a star but we will see. I'm not that high on the Kuminga pick for the Warriors. Seems like more of a project and less 'win-now'
I agree. I think he might turn out to be a good player but it won't be any time soon On the other hand if a team is looking for a rebuild Wiseman and Kuminga might turn out to be valuable trade assets..

Maybe trade assets for Beal?

Westbrook is such a terrible fit next to Lebron.

He didn't work next to Harden and it won't work now even as the 3rd option. You just clog the paint for AD and Lebron more-so.

I don't get NBA general managers.

Brodie may still be traded, again (I think that's possible, not entirely sure). But one would think Lebron had some input and if he thinks it could work, then okay. I agree it looks a very bad fit, but if Lebron or AD is out, he's a clear upgrade on whoever. Schroeder didn't do himself any favors, thus facilitating this trade for the Lakers.

Who else is left on the Lakers that can reliably make 3s?

They've practically traded them all
LeBron?

The Lakers have had pretty poor quality point guards since Derek Fisher, and even then Fish was the 4th or 5th option among starters. So this will be a refreshing change. They must think they can get veteran shooters.

Have to say I was hoping they would get Hield, they obviously need shooting.

He’s below league average for 3s, teams would rather he take 3s than him driving into the paint.

Last 2 champs both weren't great 3-point shooting teams.

Can't the Lakers yet do a sign and trade with Dennis Schroeder? Or is he unrestricted?

So now how they're going to play? AD more on the perimeter so Russ can attack the basket?

That deal seems nuts.

I especially look forward to the line-ups with LeBron, AD, Westbrook and a centre. The congestion in the paint will be…

For me as a Lakers fan, we need some shooters in free agency.

Kuzma wanted out anyway, inconsistent shooter, who will probably put up good numbers on a bad team. KCP will be a loss and Trez’s game doesn’t translate to the playoffs.

The thing with Westbrook, is for the regular season it will be fine, LBJ can rest more as he can definitely be a third guy with AD. But in the playoffs we beat the Houston team playing Box and 1 on Eric Gordon and daring Westbrook to chuck threes. He also seems to make stupid plays in the playoffs, for whatever reason.

What I will say though, is his approach to basketball is fantastic and he required that from the rest of the team, which is great. LBJ also wants to play off the ball more and AD is respectable from 3.

But we definitely need two shooters and a center at least, Melo is probably coming for the minimum, so he can replace Kuzma’s offensive production.

Hopefully we can get a center and two more shooters after that.

What's Reddick up to these days? Would have be worthwhile for the Lakers? I haven't seen him play in a long time though so while he can shoot he probably gives up too much on the other end.

Agreed. Melo if he comes will more than replace Kuzma. Also the big but short contract of Westbrook probably serves us better in the post LeBron rebuild. Should give us room to sign two max guys in a couple years.

Last seen stinking up the place for Mavericks. Probably available at vet minimum.

Raptors taking Scottie Barnes ahead of Suggs is maybe slightly surprising but not shocking as he was getting great reviews for the last few weeks. Anything below 5 was a big uncertainty so I can't say too many of those moves surprised me.

Reports coming out today that Beal is insistent on staying with Wizards and will consider their $240m extension offer at the end of his current contract. Like I said yesterday, guy just isn't bothered with the whole winning thing. He's in love with the city, his family is settled there, unless they specifically ask him to move and trade him somewhere he's staying there.

Lakers out of the picture for Lowry now but Toronto may well keep him now that they've refused to draft a point guard. Mavericks, Pelicans, Heat will also be in the picture.

I think I casually bought into the narrative of Booker being an empty stats guy. He definitely proved me wrong
I mean, the whole "empty stats" narrative is dumb in the first place and whoever came up with it should be stoned. Just my 2 cents
I just don't get how pretty much every fan sees it but we're still going for it, literally minutes after it seemed we'd got Hield.
Ugh ffs what are we doing? Not Westbrook please, I’d rather keep Kuz, Harrell and KCP + our first rounder if we can’t get Hield for that or less.
We desperately needed a point guard. We acquired a great point guard

Don't like losing KCP, but if we can fill out the roster with solid 3 and D vets, we'll be fine. Worst comes to worst we just stagger LeBron's and Russ' minutes in the playoffs. Having LeBron play 35-38 minutes instead of 40+ is the most important thing for us, as well as keeping him at no more than 35 in the RS

We needed someone to run an offense. Don't think Russ is that guy. And we've been saying to fill out the roster with 3 and D guys for years now, it doesn't seem to be the way Pelinka thinks.

Yes. And that's precisely what Russ does. Our main problem is that when LeBron sits, the offense craters. Russ should keep things going

His contract is up the same year Doncic is potentially a UFA as well.

There’s a hell lot of difference between not great and not having any.

Lakers might as well get Simmons to complete the all 5 in the paint offense.
You'd imagine they'll be looking to get some in. So yes, right now they don't have anybody really, but they'll look to get some in and that might be enough to challenge.

Anyone who thinks Booker is an empty stats guy has never seen us play when we were shit. He was basically putting up efficient shooting nights consistently while being doubled because he’s the only guy that could create his own shot and we basically played with no point guards until last season when Rubio joined us.

Btw, where does Simmons go? Seems like Philly has given up on him (rightfully) and he on them as well (read reports that they were not able to reach him during off season).

And Schroder... are the Bulls really ready to give hum 150 for 5 years? (That would not be a good move for the Bulls).

Not sure where they can move Simmons for value tbh.

Lakers offered Schroeder 90/5 which is pushing his value in my opinion. Hopefully we can S+Thim to someone for a shooter.

Sign and trade for Lonzo and picks.

and why would the Bulls want Schroeder?

Nice of the Lakers to keep on making it easier for me to set aside 30 years of fandom and ignore them.

All they need to do is trade THT and the mission will be complete.

Looking at the list of upcoming free agents, can't really see any decent shooters that would want to take a min to ring chase.

I reckon Redick is going to the Nets. He's been complaining last season about wanting to return to New York where his family are and the Nets are perfect for him to get his wish and ring chase.

Yeah that's true. Someone here mentioned Melo. And we can still sign and trade Schroeder I believe?

I was incredibly surprised, honestly. We don't have much depth in the guard position anymore with Jalen Harris having his problems and us letting go of Terence Davis II before that. At the moment, we have Gary Trent Jr., Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry, and Malachi Flynn. With Lowry becoming a free agent, I wonder what the plan is for bringing in a new guard. At least in the forward positions, we have more depth, but I guess we want a more expansive skill set from our forwards as none of them can necessarily pass at a high level.

This might indicate that we could be looking for another shooter in the guard positions, possibly, or that we might trade Siakam away given the interest in him so far. The former's more likely than the latter, IMO.

It was a report that I read. It suggested that it would help make the Bulls the next step. Don't see it personally.

Yeah, doesn't make sense for the Bulls to help the Lakers to do a sign and trade. Lavine is better than Schroeder and they still have Coby White to develop.

Well, in the report they admitted that it would mean the end for Coby White.

That sounds like a Lakers fan fiction piece where the writer does ridiculous trades to get the Lakers multiple all stars and developing players all while staying under the salary cap.

I'm really excited with the prospect of having a portuguese in the nba for the first time. Anyone here follows college basketball? What chances do you think Neemias has in the current Kings squad?
