Their owner is a famous cheapskate and strapped for cash. of course it's all about saving money
Kyrie burned a lot of sage to get this through...bad trade for Nets. They lost Allen and LeVert and their future picks. Defense got worse and depth got worse. Top end scoring got better but scoring wasn't going to be an issue with the Nets.
The luxury tax consideration is the only thing that makes sense.
This looks like a stupid deal all around.
Picks are the deal for them. They don’t care about ‘young players’ because they don’t want to win now or anytime soon.I presumed Houston would want at least one star player (either one of the league's best youngsters or someone like Ben Simmons). Not sure Oladipo on an expiring deal, a couple of rotation players and picks, most of which will end up being late first rounders, is much of a deal for Harden.

Those pick swaps are cheeky good because they own some of their picks during that period to OKC. 2024, 2026 firsts from Brooklyn are likely to be very good as this will be after Durant-Harden era.
It’s a win for all sides IMO.
Houston get a ton of future draft assets as well as a player they will flip soon for another pick. Getting a ton of future assets should have been the goal.
Pacers get a player on a longer deal who fits well with their current team.
Cavs win big, they get Allen for basically nothing of note.
Nets win because for their immediate future they got a huge upgrade over LeVert, Allen is a loss but they will get a decent center off the buyout market as they tend to be dirt cheap. DeAndre shouldn’t play. They don’t care about 2023-2030 when they have Durant now. They want to win championship before 2023.
Houston can get something, but also not much depending on what those picks will look like. Pacers fine I guess, but nothing significant in the grand scheme of things.
And to wrap it all together this looks to me like the worst superstar team ever. Dislike them already. And will eat my hat if these Nets win anything

I'm sorry but Kyre, Harden and Durant just don't fit in the same team without one of them being severely limited. Now the nets are in a bind cause they have to trade Kyrie but basically won't have any takes cause he's acting the fool.

Absolutely. Get the band back together. Wizards will do whatever they can to throw Scotty Brooks in the deal, too.
Perk can come out of retirement and I’m sure Fisher is available to sleep with someone’s wife.
Only DeAndre on their roster so the answer is basically no. Backups are Claxton and Perry, none of whom are ready. Durant will see some minutes at center I bet, and they will pick up someone half decent from the buyout. I think there are some centers who haven’t signed with NBA teams this season yet - Taj Gibson, Jordan Bell, Kyle O’Quinn... better than nothing.

another day, another blow out for the Lakers. Their biggest threat right now is getting bored. I'm not saying they are as good as the KD/Steph Warriors, but the dominance is the same.
I live in NYC so i like this "Houston/Brooklyn/Cleveland/Indiana trade" because either i will see the Lakers for a Championship final here in the next couple of years or i can laugh about the Nets fans at the work.........to watch them will be very interesting but my feeling is that it will be a disaster for them.
To win games should be a great feeling for us after the long drought but yeah our games are very boring and like you have said a few posts before "Barely breaking a sweat".

I was being hyperbolic, but there is some truth to the getting bored part. Take tonight for example. Up by 24 in the second quarter they started trying stupid fancy passes/shots and in minutes it was down to 11. Turned it back on to begin the 3rd and the lead was up to 30. Watching them every night you can see the improvement game to game as the new guys get more comfortable. Again, they are not the Warriors from a few years ago, but they are easily the best team in the league.
He definitely quit on the team, just see Wall and Cousins comments on him.
Only one ball and the Nets basically gutted their depth for him. Kyrie is an untradeable headcase at this point and they’ve mortgaged their future for these two years.
I feel like come playoff time, they are going to be amazing should they manage to stay injury free.
I don't know about this trade. They have pretty much no defense and three primary ball handlers. I think the clippers are still better than them and I'd have the bucks sixers and Celtics ahead of them in the east
Kyrie is unreliable. Harden pretty much ensures they'll be great regardless.

I hate that he went out like a fecking cnut. It definitely sours my view of him, despite being by far the best Rockets player in my lifetime.
Yeah, when all three go off they can and will blow anyone. But, going all the way constructed like this is another matter and I definitely can't see it.
Am still pretty sure they will provide entertainment both on and off the court, so am glad the deal happened in that sense. Some crazy shit from Kyrie in the middle of the season would be brilliant.

United top of the league and my basketball team signs Harden in the same week. 
When I lived in Jersey in 2009 for a year I adopted them as my team even though they were pants. They now have a pretty tasty line up if they can keep all their stars fit. Can't wait to see KD, Kyrie and Harden on same court.

I can see it "work" during the regular season because they all have the ability to get 40+ points and anihilate a team almost by themselves but in the off season when you not only have to face far better defenses and opponents that are as potent offensively, I don't see the Nets being able to out rebound and guard the best teams.
Also I think that in the next 2 to 3 years the Lakers and then the Golden States, if Klay comes back the same, will be the best teams by some distance.

James Harden is an incredible talent whatever you think of him. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but he's going to improve this Nets team tremendously.
I dunno about salt but he's the last basketball player I'd wanna watch, just enjoy watching him implode in the playoffs every year.
