NBA 2019-2020

Yeah because he had kd to bail him out every time.
Not every time. It was definitely Iggy who bailed him out in that first one. It's just a coincidence that he is top 10 all time in both playoff and finals points per game

Never thought Kawhi was that kinda bitch. After these superb playoffs, he's lost all respect from me.

The way things went with Spurs, made me question him.

That's impressive considering KD has featured in less than half of the Warriors playoff series over the past 5 years.

Well and they lost 2 out of 3 finals in which he didn’t.

Russell is a good move for them. He’s a great trade asset, and they could not have got anyone else in even if they hadn’t signed him because they’d have been over the cap. It’s a master stroke by Myers and so were their moves before the draft (acquiring extra picks for cash to fill out the roster).

Lakers being the most hated NBA team again feels like the league is back in balance.
I absolutely love it. Gonna torture my Warriors bandwagon fans the entire season if we’re doing better than them.

I see that Woj is talking about some sort of franchise tag for NBA players in his latest podcast, surely an interesting idea.

It's a stupid rule in the NFL and should be abolished. Owners love it for obvious reasons. Some players may not mind (once) as it guarantees a big salary.

the NBA setup is good as is. just need more efforts to reduce tanking and reduce the length of the season.
Agreed. The league's quality and interest in it are at an all time high. There's no reason for any major overhaul.

Shorten the season to 58 games, first playoffs round to the best of 5, get rid of conferences and prevent the teams from picking in the top 5 in two consecutive years and everything will be great. Flattening of the odds worked fine this season actually I think.

I like 7 game playoffs. You work all season to get there, no need to rush.
First round often ends up being a sweep or a gentlemen’s sweep, make it quick.

I'd be up for only the top four in each conference making the playoffs. Half the league making the playoffs is nonsense.

Won't happen of course, owners would never approve and lose out on that extra revenue.

That would actually cause even more teams to tank. Four teams making the playoffs would be ridiculously bad, it would be like 5 weeks tops.

It’s fine with 16 teams. You need incentive to play, it can be like football leagues where 14 out of 20 teams usually have nothing to play for in the last 4 weeks of season.

Ben Simmons to sign a 5-year, $170million extension. I’m surprised teams are willing to commit so much ahead of time but then again he becomes a better asset because of it.

Philadelphia have a ton of money invested in Simmons, Embiid, Harris and Horford. They will be luxury team for a while with little ability to add any further to their starting five. I do like Butler for Richardson swap though, I think it is good for both teams involved. Miami will be more interesting than people realize.

Well it would be 8 total teams but fair points.

The strange thing about salary caps is I am not sure what stops players getting paid outside the league. I mean so much being made of AD waving the trade kicker but how hard is it for the Lakers to make it up to him outside basketball

No doubt LeBron pushed hard for him to be in Space Jam 2 and probably raise his payment for that.

The Wizards are a disaster of a franchise. They elected to not trade Jeff Green/Ariza last season to push for the 8th seed (for whatever reason) and now they have lost both for nothing.

I'm posting this a little late, but:

He has direct connections to Kawhi's camp.

That they got to the finals 3 times without KD is the reason why I'm so impressed by how KD managed to bail them out of every series during those 3 years. :p

The Dubs added Willie Cauley-Stein and Glenn Robinson III yesterday, both at close to veteran minimums. Cauley-Stein at 1.7 million was definitely a steal. He averaged nearly 12 ppg for the Kings last year as a starter playing all 81 games.

He has connections but that man is unbearable on their show (just like his counterpart Wright). I mean he's always constantly talking about "I knew him as a kid, I knew as a teenager". So fecking annoying
Nick Wright is kinda growing on me but Carter is an obnoxious prick. Maybe it's because Carter is so detestable that Nick Wright is starting to look better - will have to think on that one.

Cauley-Stein is a steal, but why do they need Glenn? Seems odd one especially after Russell. Is Livingston definitely off then?

Robinson is a small forward. They need to fill out the roster across the whole floor.
