NBA 2016-17

Oh my God, Durant has gone full Kawhi Leonard on this game. Attack and defend opponent's best player. Now that James is resting, he is defending Irving

Great start, long way to go. Steph was brilliant, KD was out of this world.

Very disappointing match :( Hoped for it to be a real contest as a neutral but there are other matches and it is far from over.

Games aren't usually usually close these days to be fair. The shooting can just blow a game open at any point

I'll never root for the CAVS (F off Gilbert!) but these Warriors have a bunch of pansies as well (Green, Durant); whatever can't wait for the draft.

Having curry and KD on the same team is basically cheating. Best duo since Kobe and Shaq.

Interesting discussion I picked up earlier - if the Warriors had to lose one player for the finals, who will they prefer, Draymond or Durant?
Durant. And you can replace KD with Steph in this conversation and the answer stays the same

By the third quarter this morning(basically when Green's D and Curry's 3s turned the game into a blowout) i was contemplating LBJ on the warriors...

That would be something to see

Btw, i think warriors will blow out the cavs in game 2 as well

This series will begin once it goes to cleveland and the cavs can feed off the quicken loans arena's energy

I know Warriors were incredible but what the hell is going on with Thompson? 6 points on 3-16 shooting, I mean what the hell?

This! Have a slight fancy for Warriors but this game means nothing, playing at home after 10 days rest, players are rusty, LeBron an off day.
LeBron didn't have an off game. He had too many turnovers, but he played quite good.

I said before that Cavs will struggle if they match LeBron with Durant. They need LeBron to be at his absolute best in order to win this, and he won't be at his best in attack if he has to chase Durant all night long. On the other hand, I was expecting Green/Iguodala to defend LeBron and was surprised to see Durant doing so. He really did a good job on it and surprisingly didn't affect his offensive play.

Steph was a bit interesting. He started the game not that good, almost being scared, but he grow up on the game and by the end of it, he was the second best player of the match. On the other hand, Kyrie started better but on the second half, Steph totally dominated that match up.

Cannot understand what is going on with Klay, but seems that his confidence is shot. If he plays like this on the second match, the coaches should say to him to not shoot at all, and play him just for defense. Seriously, it is difficult to carry a player who shoots 3/16.

Also, about the people who are choosing Green over Durant/Curry. Seriously guys, what is wrong with you?

Yeah green is quite overrated. He's a good player, but nothing more than a cog in a well wired machine. Curry's the engine.

Green and Thompson are IMO players who would not thrive being number 1 on their team. Put Green in a struggling team and he'll be nothing special, however he fits that Warriors team absolutely perfectly. Thompson IMO would do well outside Warriors but would not hit the same heights he has hit there. They both really are in a perfect environment right now.

Curry would be a star everywhere.

Yep. I think that he is a very good player, a good passer and defender, but Durant and Curry are the second and best players in the league. You don't remove one of them for Green. In fact, I don't think that Warriors will get affected that much if Green gets suspended/injured. Iguodala is very good at doing stuff Green does. On the other hand, you just cannot replace Curry and Durant.

If Warriors win this it will mostly be because of the brilliance of KD and Curry.

What's wrong with us? The question was...who could they do without at a pinch...Durant or Green.

Curry isn't in the picture.

Green is likely to finish 2nd in the defensive player of the year awards again. A ton of that offense goes through him.

No one is arguing Green is a better player than Durant - that's a ridiculous argument.

But, he is irreplaceable on that team. Get away from the stats and just watch him for 40 mins...

I watch him and I agree that he is a greater player. But I also think that Warriors would be better with Iguodala replacing Green (a player that offers a lot of similar things including great defense and playmaking, for example yesterday, he was their main playmaker while he was on the pitch), then Iguodala or someone else replacing Durant. Durant is a supremely talented player, you don't just replace the second best player in the world. Green is very good at what he does, and surely that his miss will affect them, but Durant is just a far better player.

If Warriors win this, it will be mostly because of him and Curry.

Definitely the worst in my lifetime. Really poor playoffs been massively disappointed.

Compare this to last year... Thunder v Spurs, Thunder v Warriors, even Blazers v Warriors and Cavaliers v Raptors were all very good series... Not to mention the Finals.

Exactly. I enjoyed nearly every series last season. This year has just been horrible. Cannot wait until the young exciting teams like the Bucks, Timberwolves, Jazz and Blazers get more experience and start challenging.

Another stat... times his side lost by 20+ points in a Finals game.
Jordan - 1 (1996, Game 4 vs Seattle with his side up 3-0)
James - 6 (most recent, last night)

If the Warriors keep their core together for 3-4 more years, and continue to win(and dominate like they have), they might be the greatest team in North American sports history.

They're clearly the greatest NBA team of all time.

Who will be the first one to leave? I assume Klay just because he seems to be the least important (not that he isn't a vital cog - he most definitely is.)

Still long way to go before they claim it and at the movement they are below Celtic,Lakers and Bulls.

This series is still only 1-0. As much as I would like to see the beatings continue there is still a long way to go. No chickens counted or fat ladies singing yet.

They won't beat the 1996 Bulls.
Under today's rules I'd take the Dubs. Under the rules back then I'd take the Bulls. Under the rules (and contact) allowed in the late 80s, they would also be in severe trouble against the Pistons (and probably hospitalized too).

I would be shocked if the Cavs won this series.

I really think they have no chance. The Warriors didn't even play that well in game 1 either. Klay and Green were awful offensively and the entire team missed plenty of bunnies near the rim.

Lebron can't guard KD and they've no one else to guard him really. Warriors can throw multiple defenders at him meanwhile.

As would I, but I was shocked last year and don't want to repeat my mistake. No chickens or ladies yet. :nono:
