NBA 2014-2015

Durant is definitely leaving OKC

What are you basing this on? Every little sign/indication lately has been that he will be staying.

Anyway, not that disappointed to miss the play-offs. The Warriors will sweep the Pelicans instead of the Thunder who now enter the lottery. Injuries crippled this season. With a healthy team I have no doubt that OKC would have been top 3 in the West. At least there is a longer off-season now and they can focus on being healthy for next season.

So, who'll eventually get the MVP? The Cavs are 3-10 without James and were 19-20 when he came back from his two weeks absence, and were 33-8 after that. They won 97 games in the four years he was in Miami but they're a 50+ wins team again now while the Heat miss out on the playoffs... LeBron has a perfectly realistic claim to the trophy imo, although I think it's hard to see past Curry this season. He'll end up MVP and probably deservedly so.

Glad for Davis and the Pelicans to make the playoffs, even if they get swept by GS. It also gives Durant and the Thunder as a whole more time to prepare the next season, hopefully with a different coach. I'd rather have the Pacers than the Nets in the playoffs but it's not like they're going to survive the first round so whatever.

I still think Harden should be the MVP, it's not about the best, it's about the most valuable, and he has definitely been the most valuable for his team this season.

Yeah if it was me I would give it to Harden too.

I'd give it to Curry and LeBron over Harden.....there value to their teams standing is above Hardens for me, especially LeBron, prob not even in the playoffs without him.....his previous two teams weren't. He should get it every year if you go by the value to the team, but like Jordan, they just got bored giving it to him.

Completely agree with this. You could argue that Rose's award was purely because they got bored of James as well.

I think Curry is more exciting though and that is what will get him more of the people votes. Watching Harden take millions of free throws isn't exactly enticing although he has been fantastic this season and should definitely be considered.

Of course it was.....Rose was a star that year no doubt, love him and all, but Chicago coped without him vaguely well. But I think KD deserved his last year actually, ridiculous efforts at times. Say what you want about Westbrook and NBA will push anything, but KD was above it last year.

MVP has to be Steph Curry. He's the best player on the best team. GSW are 10 and half games ahead in the west. That's just insane.
He's also attempted the most 3 points in the entire NBA and is 4th proficient in the league. He's shooting at a higher % than Harden and in every category and we also have to factor in how damn exciting he has been to watch all year.
Curry for MVP!

Harden piggybacking the Rockets to 56 wins means he SHOULD win it by some distance but as always, the MVP is a popularity contest. This is gonna be a 7-game series, FWIW. The Warriors are a mediocre road team (28-13) and the Pelicans, today, have played essentially without 2 of their best players (Evans, Holiday). The high variance in jumpshooting teams just about guarantees it. No depth and only 2 legitimate scorers.

 this post is hilariously wrong

The Warriors have the best road record in the NBA. The also have the 2nd most points in the paint in the entire league

Might have a bit of a nibble on the Spurs at 13/2 to win the Championship now, can't see the Clippers keeping up that performance level over 7 and once the Spurs get hot they're as good as anyone.

Smith/Howard put on a clinic against the Mavs. Since Dallas was playing a significant amount of minutes with a Dirk/Amare front line Houston actually tied a record for dunks in a playoff game. Also, Rondo had 4 fouls in 10 minutes, had an 8 second violation under little defensive pressure and only played 30 seconds in the second half.
