Nba 2011-2012

Kobe has a concussion as well as the nasal fracture. I don't know if the NBA will require him to sit out some games until he is cleared. Wade may have apologised but it was an unnecessary foul in a meaningless game and I think Kobe/Lakers will try to get some revenge when the Heat come to town this weekend.

I don't think it was intentional, and the East had a great chance of winning it, hence the aggressiveness. I only heard Gasol speak on it, he's a drama queen, as well as anyone who was ticked off by it. Injuries happen

It was unnecessary, but to be honest you wouldn't expect a hit like that to break a nose and cause brain concussion! I still can't believe it did so much damage, it was unnecessary, but it didn't really look THAT nasty.. May be Kobe was a bit unfortunate there..

However, I think Lebron and Wade were the two who took the game seriously the most among all players, too seriously actually.. May be when they win a championship they'll cool off a bit, but at the moment, they look scaring-ly hungry for a ring. They still can't get over their loss to Dallas last year.

Works with that roman nose of his.

Heh, and I've been watching the Knicks more than anyone else. It's kinda hard to like the current Lakers team with all the nonsense going around, and them under-performing with 3 all stars.

Since I left LA I haven't seen a regular season Lakers game besides the one Jeremy Lin played in 2 weeks ago. I'm a pretty crappy basketball fan. But I make up for it with my stalking of United.

That was a shame the Kings didn't beat the Clips, they were shooting above 50% for most of the game, just collapsed in the last minutes. That Cousins, though, he's converted me, he'll be an All-Star sooner rather than later.

Also, am I the only one who was reading your username as 'Jeevzy'?

Not at all. rimaldo was the first to call me Jeeves.

Well, when i realized you're in San Luis Obispo, using advanced detective techniques, it no longer seemed helpful to think of you as an English butler. Kind of opposite mentalities, so-cal beach towns and English butlers.

Well I'm originally from Modesto (if that sounds recently familiar it's because we just made national news when a local high school teacher left his wife and kids to go move in with one of his 18 year old students) so that doesn't quite mesh with the English butler image either.

I have this image of Modesto:

What a game at LA. Wade fouls out on a questionable foul call, and it looks like the Lakers have this one in the bag.. Wade needs to settle down a bit..

Huge win for the Lakers. Bynum, Artest and Kobe were impressive and the team defended the Heat very well today. I think we now are ahead of the Clippers, or, at worst 1 game back - make the trade for Howard and a PG and we could be contenders for the title.

By the way, Bosh is proving much more important than many thought.. Miami didn't even miss Wade like the missed Bosh..

I'm trying to be objective, but my first impression is that the Knicks really were better without Melo.

While it's not a big difference, and the only good teams that they beat before Melo came back were the Jazz and Mavs, since he returned they're 2-4.

Another road loss for the Lakers. Can't close out games away from LA and it's costing us in the Western Conference standings.

Still no trade move for Howard, Orlando are taking a huge risk keeping him - could be the Shaq scenario all over again (hopefully Dwight takes Shaq's path and heads to LA)

Great article, thanks! I've held those same beliefs myself, but it's great to have stats back up my summations. I call it 'insult basketball', where the object is to hit the hardest shot possible right in the face of two defenders, a cm past their finger tips. I came up with this after watching Kobe beat the Magic in the finals a few years back, and in that series, I think it worked well. When MJ beats you, you an say, well, let's try to get closer. When Kobe shoots a step back fade-away 3 pointer with 3 guys in his face and a mm past their fingers, what can you say? It seemed to be an effective demoralizing tool, though actually I was amazed that the various guys guarding Kobe never seemed to give up individually.

Back when Bryant was the 2nd option to Kobe he usually was the main recipient of the openings that would come off the O'Neal double teams, slashing from the perimeter and taking a simple hand off in for a dunk or layup. I wonder if those years of being so effective as a 2nd option made him wrongly think he'd be even better as a 1st option in 'crunch time'.

My favorite offense is the motion offense, so there's no doubt I think isolation basketball is stupid.

Yeah, have I mentioned I was wrong to suggest Wizards have better talent than the Kings?

That Washington team is enough to make a grown man cry, I'm glad there not my team.

There is plenty of talent, just that, they also happen to be headcases.

McGee and Blatche are good enough to play in this game - but both are f-ed in the head.

Leave my Wizards alone

Young players are always like that. I remember earlier that gooDevil suggested that the Kings should sign a veteran presence like Zach Randolph. I remember when Zach Randolph was one of those headcases.

Rumors going around that Pau is being traded for Scola and Lowry. I suppose it's for the best, the Lakers weren't using Pau properly, he should be getting twice as many shots as he has been.

Hopefully Lowry will act like a point guard and run the offense so that Kobe stops doing it all himself. Scola is better suited to be the scrapper and rebounder than Pau anyway, so unless you're getting rid of Kobe it's a pretty fine solution.

the mavs' let's throw this season away for cap space to sign howard and williams continues with some really ugly results of late.

I can't help but feel that Cuban wouldn't have broken up that team unless he knew he would get Williams and Howard.

If not, he's even crazier than his critic say, Chandler is having an fantastic season with New York, imo, they had been trying to find a center since Cuban bought the club, I can't see them letting him go without knowing they would get someone better.

yup. loved having chandler here...everyone did. i'm hoping he wasn't lost for nothing. :nervous:

Pau for Scola and Lowry? Damn that's a great deal for the Lakers, I hope Bryant doesn't feck up Lowry's numbers though, he's been great this season.

Would Lowry be a good fit for the Lakers? Can he shoot the ball from the perimeter or is he more of a pass first PG?

He's got a 3 ball, can pass too, his shooting can go off but he gets to the line. His numbers are:

15.9 PPG
7.2 APG
5.3 RPG
1.8 SPG
.418 FG %
.388 3-Point %

Been great for Houston this year.
