Nani will reignite our charge to the title

I thought he did pretty well. Nowhere near bad as the commentators made him out to be. May this be a new start to his Man Utd career. To be fair, i'd be satisfied if he plays like this every game. Made some quality balls. Tracked back. Did fluff a few chances. But that is to be expected.

He was ok today, again some very poor passes and decisions but he at least offers some kind of threat when he gets its right which is something park does not. Needs a few games to give him a chance to get some form.

I thought he did well today considering he's been out for ages.

Just needs to track back a little more. He can beat people with ease though.

He did well today, not brilliant, but okay, the co-commentator on the international feed is a spastic.

for the bollocking he gets on here, when he steps on the pitch we rarely lose. I posted that stat somewhere in another thread, we are like 12-2-0 this season. something around there which for as bad he plays, its not such a bad thing.

I like to defend Nani on here, but I better get this before Pogue does - Nani gets his chance in the easier games, and as we usually win a lot more than we lose, it's bound to favour him that he doesn't participate in the more difficult games.

If it had been 0-0 with 15-20 minutes left on the clock, Nani would have been the first player taken off. That doesn't sound like someone who had an amazing impact in the first 60 minutes before we scored.

Like I said, he had an average game but it was ok given extenuating circumstances and was certainly not one of our poorer players. He just wasn't as brilliant as people on here claim.

Does SAF always tell you these things?

It sounds like the 1 player of the front 4 who isnt an established first team starter. Were you expecting him to change that in 60 minutes of football?

So you are some kind of ITK I guess?

Thought he did well today, shame his overhead kick didn't find the net. As others have said not brilliant, but solid.

No but if you've watched Ferguson's United for a very long time it's not that difficult to second guess him.

Well if he was as brilliant as everyone has claimed then yeah I would expect so.

You expected him to play 60 minutes of football and at the end of it, have the manager's confidence over Berbatov, Rooney and Valencia who he picks just about every week?

You werent asking for much were you.

He's always good for producing a bit of quality every game, and I'm glad that's never really wavered.

It's other parts of his game that are still questionable but I, like everyone else I'm sure, would be absolutely delighted if he ironed them out.

He's Phelan didn't you know? :lol::lol:

Thats a moronic post to make FlawlessThaw.

Good start from Nani our wingers looked good today. Just wish they'd both have a bit more confidence and really drive at the fullbacks more often.

What the heck was wrong with it? If he had an outstanding game where he was our best player then he wouldn't have been the first person to be taken off. It's that simple.

Whoever has claimed him to have taken his chance with both hands or declared him MOTM.

Who said any of our attacking players were "brilliant" today?

Some were obviously better than others and, eventually, though it took a long time, they got the job done in the final third.

Brilliant they werent.

Watched the game on Setanta sports and Macari was the commentator - kept going on about Nani having a nightmare of a game and how he did nothing. Whole game kept bashing Valencia and saying he should dribble into the box and maybe get a penalty ... what a freakin loon.

I swear I wanted to scream at the TV for sewage that came out of Macari's mouth

Macari went on to give MOTM to Duff from Burnley cause all he could do was bash United.

Thankfully after the game the Setanta analysis had Pat something or another and he had a bit of go at Macari about his criticism on Nani and how can easily show Nani did quite well, how had Rooney put in the cross or the over head kick he would have been absolutely purring. Talked about how United supporters need to get off the players backs and get behind them.

Anyway - I thought Nani did quite well. He wasn't perfect but, pretty much did everything most people ask of him, keep possession, don't run up blind allies and even had a hand in United's first goal.

More games and his confidence will grow, he should build on today's performance which can only be a good thing for us.

I had a terrible stream in the first half, perfect in the second.

From what little I saw it looked like he was one of our better players in the first half. Unlucky not to score a fantastic goal. Faded towards the end though, which is to be expected.

Overall, an encouraging enough display but nothing earth-shattering.

Yeah I would have expected that to declare him Man of the Match.

But I got what I expected from Nani today in general. And that was an average performance where he showed glimpses of magic but was also ineffectual at the same time. But like I said in a previous post that he should be under less pressure as he is a squad player and he has just returned from injury.

Carlton Palmer on the Football Channel is a disgrace, calling NANI an idiot, condemning his performance.

I thought Valencia was brilliant as he ripped Jordan to pieces and was always a constant threat, the other three were not. But we probably wouldn't have won the match if Berbatov or Rooney weren't playing. Given their status in the team though you would expect more from them.

Teams are afraid of him - they always double and triple up on him and Evra, but leave Valencia free or 1-on-1 out wide. Nani's much more of a threat and it creates more space for the other players.

So which of our attacking players today did more than show glimpses of magic but be ineffectual for most of the game? Nani created some of our best chances with his crossing, had one of our best shots with his overhead kick and started the move which our first goal came from. He deserves just as much credit as any of our other front players today and the fact that most people werent quite expecting him to be as good as our other attacking players is probably why he got his motm votes.

There's still plenty of room for improvement on today's performance. Exactly the same for Valencia, Berbatov and Rooney.

He was my man of the match because he came back from long absence and looked good. Much more dangerous then either Berba or Rooney and just below Valencia whos had constant first team playing time over the past couple of weeks.

Well then thank you for agreeing with me when it comes to Valencia who was our better player out there. I think it's arguable when it comes to Rooney and Berbatov but then you expect much more from them then Nani.

I like to base my opinions on facts, Nani had more efforts on goal, more crosses succesfully made than Valencia today. By all accounts, Valencia should have destroyed Burnley in the first half considering the space he had.

In my opinion there were several players worthy of being removed before Nani today. Including your MOTM choice Valencia, who struggled with his end product today.

I'm not really sure where match-fitness comes into choosing who performed best on the pitch.

More of a case of just wanting to big up a player you like, maybe?

Think I already answered this post to another post you attacked me on.

Valencia gave the ball away several times with careless passing ala Nani. He had his fullback on toast as per normal but his end product wasnt coming to much. And after several lay backs the defenders ended up knowing what he was going to try and cutting them out most of the time. He was probably no worse than Nani overall but Nani's delivery into the box was a bit more threatening and his movement and linkup play with runs into the box was more dangerous too. They both did a few things better than one another.

Too much sense, watch out
