Am I the only one who clicked "play"?:nervous:

Signing players for ‘bantz’ isn’t going to help United topple City.
The fume is coming off your posts at the moment. Maybe need a little time out period?

I don't see that many signings we could make as being a guarentee to help topple City. Fekir is a great player but not sure he's exactly what we need. Although I'm not sold on what we need in terms of personnel, I think we need a mentality shift more than individuals.

We definitley shouldn't go for Fekir though because of the medical issue.

There is a rumour, yes. We had that deal ridiculously close; Kleberson has said that the main reason he joined us was because Ronaldinho told him to come here because he was joining us himself. However, according to Ronaldinho he was friends with one of the guys running for Barca president, and he'd given him his word that if his friend won the presidency that he'd join them. As such it's hard to know whether Kenyon fecked around there as well.

Imagine us having Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robben and Rooney all at the same time. No idea if all those deals would have still happened if the earliest ones had gone through, but the thought of it is just ridiculous.:(
Didnt Fergie write in an autobiography that he called fhe deal off because of crazy diva style demands? Sure I read that before. Something to do with a helicopter on standby for trips to London or some mad shit like that.

I’m not fuming over this. It’s just a transfer that hasn’t worked out, which happens all the time in football.

I do think it’s a silly suggestion to sign a player to piss off rival fans. I think you agree with me after reading your post.

By the way do you still think he failed a medical? If he did it would go against the official story doing the rounds.
Ah sorry aboot that.
No worries. It’s great to be so far away from it all when stuff like this happens.

Yeah he did fail it. I don't know what stories are doing the rounds only seen Lyon saying it's not happening but him not passing his medical is what happened. I have no idea about whether Liverpool low balled because of it or just pulled out, never claimed to know anything about that.

You really thought that I was being serious. My bad.
Hard to tell on here sometimes. My bad.

I was only asking because him failing a medical would go against the story that he passed it and then we tried to low-ball after some queries to do with his knee.

Can you actually sign players who fail a medical? I thought that failing one meant that the transfer couldn’t happen?

Become very passive aggressive all of a sudden.

Karius-gate possibly to blame?

It's Liverpool fans.

They don't suprise me anymore.

Just had a peak at the Liverpool reddit. The narrative is that Liverpool pulled out after the medical, but Lyon offered to sell for a lower fee. Then Liverpool went too low and Lyon threw a tantrum. There is also a thread about how Liverpool have been outstanding during this transfer.

The Liverpool fanbase has to be the most cult-like in the world. They will ignore any and all evidence that proves their view of Liverpool being the best at everything wrong.

This is just an opinion but fail/pass medical is not set in stone. You could fail a medical and club could still sign you no problem. It's up to the club. They set the criteria.

I was text from a 100% source that he had failed it on Friday afternoon as you know mate, maybe a better wording would have been that he didn't pass it. But ultimately I knew the information was solid.

If the story being given is that they lowballed because of an issue with the knee, I would suggest that is admission that he didn't pass the medical.

But I don't need to justify the information, I don't care what the offcial lines are, I made some good money off the back of it from the bookies :wenger:

RMC suggesting today that Fekir still thinks this is happening.

I wonder if this’ll be like Van Dijk and we’ll end up paying loads more than we needed to.

Lyon’s statement seems adamant that he’s staying so I’m not getting my hopes up.

I agree on that.

See the way they treat any manager that has any relative success. He's then treated basically as a demi-god of sorts. It was the same with Benitez and now Klopp. It's strangely fascinating to watch.

And this are the same Liverpool fans that have been slagging Fenway for years. Now they are transfer Mavericks. They are indeed a weird fanbase.

Benetiz won the CL so you could say he earned it. Klopp has won zero.

Not sure. Fergie did blame Kenyon to some extent for messing around with the transfer instead of just getting it done.

That's not what RMC said, they speculate on the idea that Fékir could still leave and that Liverpool was his priority. They also say that he has a lot of suitors.

The liverpool media are like the priests or sheikhs that give the religious verdicts. There's a photo of an announcement video doing the rounds on twitter, and French reports say that Liverpool still wanted him, but the Liverpool Echo have said that Liverpool 'pulled out'. So, the conclusion is that Liverpool were actually in control and didn't want him anyway

If that's true you should have cancelled the deal, not try to get him on lower price. If his medicals aren't good, why buy him at all then ?

Because the man is genuine class and could give truly something like yesterday's friendly vs USA showed. The man is definitely worth the price and you can take the risk for reduced price but not for full price. Maybe Lyon can get their money via installments like he plays x games and OL get more and more money. It's not like Liverpool needs more worries with injuries. We have Lallana for Pete's sake

Common sense I think. Not malice or sharking. Like you said the fee was agreed on so it's not the money issue per se.

I feel bad first and foremost for Fekir himself. This hurts his career chances where ever he ends up. All this foreplay and then no penetration because doctors found out that he was no virgin.

I still hope Pool signs him.

To this extent ? No, it doesn't happen all the time

Ah ok, I read a tweet that said it could still happen and RMC was the source.

The premature leaking to the Liverpool journos that the deal was pretty much done.

Those tweets are amazing. The amount of back-slapping on show, particularly in Reddy's tweet, is a sight to behold. It's obvious that they get their info from Edwards (or his office) and they overegg the pudding in relation to praising him to ensure more leaks in future.

its early in the window. If Liverpool have once again pissed a club off it might be a case again of making you sweat for a bit

Well it’s a transfer that has fallen apart and that happens with transfers is what I meant.

By the way the first part of the article is a summary of what happened and apparently while Liverpool weren't totally satisfied with the medical, they were still happy to sign him but tried to haggle on an already agreed fee.

And the doing photos and interviews before the deal was actually done.

Can't just have a medical, do interviews and photo shoots etc then say "oh, we'd like to get him for a little less please". Then they've basically told everyone that Fekir's leg is dodgy and pissed off Lyon even more.

Is it the usual way clubs do things? Get the PR things done, the interviews, photos, website revelations etc before a player passes their medical, or did Liverpool take some shortcuts along the way here and it all blew up in their faces?

Imagine being Fekir right now. He's done the interview and the photoshoots, and the transfer fell apart, with the world being told that he's got a dodgy knee. That's fecked up.

There is a report somewhere that both clubs agreed on a transfer but Lyon wanted to see it happen later, Liverpool leaked everything in order to make it happen sooner which pissed Lyon then they added the post medical haggling.

As long as I can remember Lyon or Aulas have always been difficult as fook to deal with. I seem to recall him talking a lot of stuff when we were after Essian then Chelsea paid something like 34mil in 2005 for him. Then again when we were after Benzema seem to recall quotes of 64 mil and we can’t afford him and so on. Aulas is basically the Daniel Levy of the Ligue 1 when it comes to selling.

Who knows what will happen with Fekir, something tells me it’ll still end up going through.

Why weren't we interested in this lad? Doesn't track back enough?
In regards to his defensive work he's like Firmino in that he works incredibly hard. Or think Tevez and Rooney at their peak.

I actually think he'll end up becoming a bit lazier in regards to his defensive work with all these injuries, which would be a shame because that's one of the attributes i love most about him, but understandable.
Whole load of fuss over a player I've barely heard of, no one seems to know much about, and who no doubt there'd be criticism of signingif it was us in for him.

I mean he could be a good player, but there doesn't have to be hysteria every tine Liverpool try to sign a player and we don't. Liverpool are going to sign players.
He's brilliant. I guess you missed his thread for the season just gone where myself and others were praising him.

Probably just trying to get a better deal then.

I thought medicals, interviews etc were done together?

I wish we were in for him but if we are looking to play 433 this upcoming season then he would be wasted on the RW (the same as Griezmann) - even though he can play there well, his best football has always come through the middle.

L'Equipe report that Liverpool's medical staff feared a re-injury of his knee. An expert physician stated: "when we have an MRI of this type of case, the first thing we see are traces of ligament repair. In this case, what poses a problem no doubt, is the wear of cartilage. It's a risk factor. It can cause pain, functional issues and eventually a lesser resistance to impacts."

So, Klopp's intense football would've made things much worse. Obviously I feel sorry for Fekir as this can have an impact on his future transfers, but I can't blame Liverpool

It’s what ruined Redknapp.

Liverpool still wanted him for £53m instead of £62m that was originally on the table.
