The second half of the season (last 3-4 months) Depay was much better, believe me, watched every match.
Depay dragged Lyon to the Champions League.
Klopp defensive coaching will always be an issue too.
I think people are overreacting. Liverpool can blow away anyone on their day, but there's a reason they don't consistently finish with a high points total under Klopp.
Challenging for the CL will be an affirmation that what they are doing is working and a sign they should continue to invest. If however by next May they don't have anything to show for it then I feel some questions will be asked of Klopp. From an outsider's perspective, he has made all the right transfers to get them in position for a major trophy or two.
Still, a lot of people here like to say ‘it’s only France’ with Memphis but what a disaster it is that Liverpool will get Fekir.
I’d put money on him being good but nothing too spectacular.
No man for man they don't have a better squad than us. Would their starting XI be better than those we have on our bench yes obviously
I would doubt they will start all 3 together for certainly a few months, just look at Robertson and the Ox for example. They didn't start games initially, but after they got used to the klopp system - they came in and did well.
I would expect that they would be brought in gradually and most likely wouldn't start a game together until maybe November.
So now what will be the excuse for them not winning major trophies. I can see them spending another £100m on defender/goalkeeper and if they do that would take their total to close to £250m for this season so surely the task should be to win the league or it's a failure of a season.
Hey if you're happy with stretching into a 7th year without a trophy that's fine with me.
I'd just argue once a manager gets into his 4th season in charge and he's spending big money like Klopp now this there should be an expectation to actually win stuff.
After so long without a trophy though I wouldnt blame them if they are happier currently instead to see constant improvements, constant good and entertaining football, a constant direction, a constant team spirit etc. Hopefully it isn't the case but winning something will be inevitable for them if they continue down this path, it isn't just a case of money they are spending but it's who, at one point not too long ago Liverpool signing the likes of Keita and Fekir over other bigger clubs was unthinkable but now it's a reality and seemingly great players want to go there. Hopefully Klopp does continue to fail when push comes to shove but if he can take them places like the CL final with the likes of Henderson and Milner then he should be able to do more with even better players coming in, but time will tell.
I will say that i am at least envious of their football and some of the types of player they are signing, it hurts me to say it but that's the reality for a lot of people I think, most peoples responses, i know, will be "Well go support Liverpool then11111!!!!!1!1!!" but it's the truth.
In terms of building heights, depay was barely a bungalow in the Premier league.
Don't see it as a disaster that they get Fekir. It'll limit them on other posts (GK) I think - and is he really that good? I mean will he take Liverpool to the next level and is he better than Firmino, Mané or Salah?

I think they sold Suarez that summer 2015, or was it the one before? Anyhow, by including that Summer you also have to include Utd's.
I am, mate! He was probably my favourite in the world to watch prior to tonight. This is probably the most disappointed I've been at seeing a player join a rival team since Tevez went to City.
We just have to hope I was indeed overrating him and that he doesn't enjoy much success at Liverpool!
You're right but, in that period, Fekir was out injured for a bit of it and was returning to full fitness for the rest. At their respective bests, I wouldn't rate Depay as highly as Fekir, but that's just my opinion.
Klopp will be at Munich, or managing his national squad in a year or two.

Liverpool can only fluke so many forward signings. Torres, Suarez and Salah is enough high-grade fluke for the next 15-20 years at least so there’s nothing to worry about here...
This - he has the lowest pressure high-profile job in football.
I disagree, they've strengthened their midfield significantly imo. It might take them a while to gell but that front three with Fabinho, Fekir and Keita is strong as balls on paper. Whether paper fits eventual outcome is a different discussion.
I think our attackers would do better in their system though
Keita, Fabinho and Fekir is fecking great business by Liverpool, their squad is already so much better.

That’s a different issue and I think I’ll stick another pin in the Mourinho voodoo doll to see if it will shake up his tactics. I think more balls is the appropriate approach for all concerned here...
There are a bunch of reasons, but 3 of them have already been replaced this summer (Wijnaldum by Fekir, Milner/Can by Keita and Henderson or Clyne/Alexander-Arnold by Fabinho).
If they can upgrade at keeper and find a decent CB they'll be comfortable favourites for 2nd.
Fekir gives them a quality backup for Firmino as a false 9 and a creative midfielder that's better than Lallana or Ox-Chamberlain, Keita should be their best overall midfielder in years and Fabinho is a rock solid DM who I'd take over Henderson in an instant or either of their right backs.
I think, comparing the 3rd and 4th sides this year, whereas Spurs find it tough to really improve because they haven't had major holes to fill, Liverpool are the complete opposite.

We most likely won't get a CB but a pacey winger and top keeper are on our agenda according to all reliable LFC journalists yes. Really not sure how it's so hard to believe we will buy a couple more players, we've only bought 2 so far this summer so do you really think it's much of a stretch us buying 2 more? We have plenty of funds so spending another £100m on a winger and goalkeeper really shouldn't be an issue.
