Mykhaylo Mudryk

Does Chelsea play with wingers, or wingback with 343 formation lately?

Last couple of games it's been a back 3 with wingbacks. But generally I think Potter wants to play a back 4 with wingers/wide forwards.

it will make things even more difficult for Mudryk. Chelsea is getting result with 343 lately so this formation will stay for the rest of this season.

That's where he played against Leicester. It wasn't pretty. The thing about Potter is he generally likes to move between formations and systems from game to game and even within games. There's also Madueke who could get squeezed out if Chelsea stick to 343 as you say we will. But yeah, we'll see. He needs time.

I'm confused - why would a 343 formation be an issue for Mudryk? He'd just slot into one of the wide positions in the front 3 no?

The wide forwards in a 343, at least the way we play it, tend to be tucked in to allow for the wing backs to be huge contributors to the build up and attack. I don't know if being an inverted forward suits him so I'd argue it isn't playing to his strengths but you're right, you never know.

Ah, I see. Having that sort of pace gives him something different from the likes of Felix, Havertz, and Pulisic so it'll be interesting to see how he adapts. Seemingly all of the new wide forwards for the top teams are having teething issues. Surely one of them will show a bit of consistency before the season's end?!

You could play Madueke inverted and him more hugging the touchline couldn't you? If one of the midfielders like Gallagher or Mount can get forward to support the attack from time to time then I'm not sure you lose much.

He could have taken another 2/3 steps there and committed the keeper. Instead he shoots early with effectively a backpass.

That’s just a lack of confidence. They’ll need to coach him carefully for next season

Without space to run into he has very little to his game so I think that's the bigger issue going forward.

Why do people hate him in here again?

What's the origin story.
I don't hate him just find it funny that Chelsea fans in here were saying how clever it was giving him the 8 year contract and there was no risk

So a Daniel James at 10x the cost?
James would've scored that one on one and has more personality in his pinky finger

He looks really average doesn't he? Quick but makes poor decisions. Probably low on confidence but he really needs to improve fast.

Had a great opportunity to square it for a simple tap in. Decided to shoot. I'd be furious at that.

I wonder why no one’s calling him out. Martinez was a flop after 2 games apparently and Anthony gets it every game he doesn’t score or assist. Why’s he getting a free pass?

Does he play for utd? There's your answer.

He needs a proper coach and he needs one now. No one is looking good, in an attacking sense, in this current Chelsea team. They should make the change to Nagelsmann before the end of the season so that he can see who he wants and who he doesn’t.

Is there any evidence that he's potentially brilliant, beyond his pace, as there was with Bale? For example, Bale's wand of a left foot was on display before he'd physically matured and really showed his pace. Bale was scoring FK's for Southampton and Spurs at 17 and his crossing was masterful. Has this guy shown that kind of ability in the Ukraine, or was it all cutting in and using his pace?

Players low on confidence can look pretty bad. On top of it, the whole team is hanging their heads low. Should wait and see what he does next season before drawing a conclusion. He still looks pretty raw to me, we definitely ended up choosing right in getting Trossard for a quarter of the price. He was already PL proven and tested which is what we needed.

Free pass from who? He's been absolutely slagged online and in here.

Random twitter fans and forums don’t really count. We have fans who spout venom at Rashford online. What I don’t see is the likes of Souness, Carragher, Neville or others saying anything about him or his price tag. Granted it’s early and he shouldn’t be labelled anything yet. I just find it funny the opposite treatment of players at different clubs.

Ageed, Trossard was a fantastic buy. One of the best deals in a long time. Just what you needed to help push on.

Look, he may come good, but feck me, he's been poor so far. The money they spent on him was absolutely ludicrous, especially when you consider the small amount of first team games that he had played.

That's a down to a combination of Sky giving far less post game coverage to smaller teams and also you probably not watching anywhere near as much analysis of Chelsea as you do Man United.
