It has to be tho, its such a big forum with people on from all walks of life, that things can not be said here, like they maybe able to be said on a smaller forum, as 99% of the time you will cause offense to someone, and that has to be respected by the people who run this site.

Whilst I have criticised the mods for being over-officious on a number of occasions (most notably for harassing posters for IMO perfectly reasonable comments about Heysel) mods are well within their rights to warn you for this. In fact they are probably legally obliged to do so as it's defamation.
As for hearing defamatory songs on the telly, the BBC has been warned about broadcasting defamatory chants in their football coverage before.
Is that true?
How the hell could they avoid it at a live event?
Does that prohibit them from covering a political rally or such when lies are told about other candidates?

Jason - Yes, the BBC was threatened when all those allegations about rape were flying around a few years back and they were showing highlights on MOTD of a Newcastle match. As for what they can do - have someone turn off selected microphones when chants start up. Like MUTV do at the reserves everytime someone pipes up with an anti-Glazer chant (I kid you not)
Anyway, I've never been warned for using inappropriate language.
