It might be very good for the likes of Warren Buffet though, who has been anticipating this for a long time and selling his stocks. Berkshire now holds over 350 billion in cash, so he can buy lots of stocks for cheap, assuming the trend of them falling continues.
I don't think they'll push to kick him out, partially for those reasons. As much of a horrible waste of oxygen he is, he's also primarily the reason the Tesla stock has been so comically inflated, mostly with the BS he sells investors about the amazing things they're supposedly doing with the brand and all the vapourware tech that's supposedly just around the corner. If they do decide to force him out for being too toxic to the brand, then like you say I can predictably seeing him going full scorched earth on the company, and by that point there's no going back and you'd expect their marketshare to be eaten up by the Chinese competitors irreversibly.
He's pretty much a doubled edged sword for them.

depends on your definition of worse. Trump is a much bigger damage for the world and even more so for the US because he actually created the MAGA revolution and if it wasn't for his charisma and way of captivating the naive mob, we'd be in a much different place. If he died 10-20 years ago, we'd be in a much different place too.
Musk is just a miserable grifter that joined the MAGA bandwagon, he didn't invent this ideology and has little to no control over the MAGA faithful. If it wasn't for him or if he died 10-20 years ago I think we'd be in a similar spot that we are now, he could be easily replaced by any other attention-seeking and power-hungry billionaire.
Trump is way more responsible for the global populist shift, demise of American soft power and the end of US hegemony. But no one can deny his charisma and the fact he's genuinely funny, he resonates with the people. Musk is nothing more than a tool, figuratively and literally.
