I know for a fact that The Boring Company has been polluting the water sources in and around Austin, TX.

A friend of mine worked for them in a very senior position - reported into Musk. When he found out, he handed in his recognition. They threatened him with all sorts of legal action so he eventually settled on a large pay off on the condition he signed an NDA.

It is cyclical. My country has fascist idiots in charge too. May take a good 20 more years (they’ve already been in control for 10) but eventually they will decline and lose, and the narrative surrounding them will be damning. With all these cnuts, the question is whether they pay for their actions during their lifetime and get to actively experience that fall.

A potential bind for Musk that I'm sure he can't yet see is that he is increasingly being associated with Nazis and paedophilia. That works for you online but is off putting in the real world marketplace.

Like sure there are enough people who want to be blasted up to Mars and enough people who want to be labotomised by a monkey death chip and enough people who want to drive a rickety shit car. But I don't think there are enough people who want to do that while also being dressed as a Nazi child abuser. My limited experience is that a growing number of people find Tesla cars and Tesla owners a bit gross. Personally, just looking at the logo gives me that same grim, pit of the soul emptiness that I get whenever someone invokes names like Jimmy Savile or Jonathan King.

Fascism isn't particularly sustainable so I don't expect it to be around forever but the next 10-20 years is achievable. Luckily I'm a straight white tradesman so I'll probably be just fine as long as they don't start rounding up socialists/communists.

I just have no more fight left in me, I've tried fighting these ideas wherever they've arisen for the best part of a decade now and people have just hand waved away the threat. Europe may still have some hope of staying out of this but it seems unlikely with the amounts of money going towards fascism and the general apathy of liberals.

The link below is to a survey done by an electric car review site. They did a review of the updated model Y (which was very positive) that got released about 3 days after is nazi salute, and the comments on the video ended up all being about that, and asking them not to review his cars any more.
So they ran a survey to find out how widespread that view was.

Its only a small survey, but over half the respondants said they were put off tesla by him. That will only get worse.

Far more powerful. Musk as of now is mostly noise and gas that keeps getting noisier and smellier but will eventually wear off. These guys will keep coming and going. This won't have a good ending.

The big difference that Ford's influence was mostly confined to the US, while Musk has a far broader platform.

He had a big influence in Europe which included Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. Yes, Soviet Union of the 1920s where he was declared a hero and at a time when the US didn't recognize them! Hitler adored Ford and Ford promoted anti-jewish propaganda (read Protocols of Elders of Zion & Ford). Crazy stuff.
 
Everyone I know in the UK that has a Tesla has one as a company car that due to low tax on EV's means they don't have to pay as much as regular internal combustion vehicle. I assume there's people that genuinely own them but given my experience with Tesla owners it does seem like their market over here is a bit of a house of cards that will topple as soon as the next tax avoidance option comes along.

You can usually tell with teslas given what colour they are. White is the only free colour, so in general, leased ones will be white, which they nearly all are. Blue costs about a grand, so you may get some private leasers who pay that, but its the red ones you know are private owned. Red is a 2 grand option.

I was thinking about that yesterday. There is no coming back and he should realize that the powerful people that are surrounding him today will backstab him in the near future when it suits them.

I had to check but I remember something similar for other manufacturers, for example Mercedes has white at 1250€ and two type of greys at 3400€ or 3800€.

Nah. Nobody is or has been "Far more powerful" than Musk is currently. He's the richest man that's ever existed and has the ear of every law maker in the western world.

Musk isn't the most powerful man on earth, none of what he owns can't be taken by people with actual power. There is also a lot of people who are known to be wealthy unofficially, with actual dollars and gold, not stocks.

It is quite likely what he says is true, but if you add all of those, it is around 50M. If you give a generous extra 50M for 'millions' for EV vehicles in Vietnam, and transgender clinics in India, it is still 100M, or 0.25% of the total USAID annual budget.

My guess is that these are some very selected, relatively ridiculous, ways of spending money, to give the impression that is all what USAID does. When likely, the other 99.75% is spent on fighting corruption on developing and poor countries, humanitarian aid in Haiti and other countries that really need it, fighting diseases in Africa etc. To MAGA, this is wasted money but even if you take out the humanitarian part of it, this is the way of how soft power works, so overall, USAID has definitely been a net positive.

It can probably be spent better though, but shutting it down seems a very Trumpian way of doing things.

NB: A lot of this money is actually spent on US staff salaries etc, so lots of it is somehow brought back to the US.

That's not it. Musk attached himself to someone with power in Trump. Is he dangerous and influential? Absolutely but he isn't the most powerful man on earth, he isn't the man that has access to the most wealth on earth either.
