If it were down to you, would you rather spend £15-20m on Young from Villa or £40m on Bale from Spurs?

And it's not just a one-word response, why would you choose them?

Young, he's more versatile and considering either of them would be a squad player that's important. He's also not the most overrated player in recent memory. Also £40m for Bale would be beyond idiocy.

£15-£20m on Young.

Bale is the better of the two, but has largely been hyped up by a media whirlwind following some astounding performances in the Champions League.

He "could" be fantastic, but wouldn't offer twice the value that Young would, and saving £20-25m by buying Young instead, i'd like to think the funds could be allocated elsewhere, particularly in the middle.

Young because paying £40 million for Bale would be lunacy given the other areas we have to strengthen.

For 15m.. probably Bale
if its 15m for Young and 30+ for Bale, then not too keen on either

Bale. But only because he's younger. If I could look into the future and see he'd stay at this level that 'won' him the player of the year, I'd go for young who I'm not a big fan of either.

EDIT: oops, forgot the price Bale's hype would command. Young all the way.

I like Young a lot, but Bale is going to be a beast of a player.

For the record, I didn't consider a potential fee when choosing Bale. I just think he is a better player.

I think it's more Young £10-15m and Bale £40-50m, which is the problem. Bale's not worth exorbitant prices (or worth us not spending on other areas) and he's not going for a reasonable price. Young's not worth going for at his real value to Villa but he's worth a go on the last year of his contract.

Bale, because through sheer determination, he's made himself into a highly-regarded player. And he would only improve with us.

Neither to be honest. I don't actually rate Bale as highly as everyone else does and Young isn't (like Bale) exactly the kind of player we need, but Young is more versatile. If I had to choose it'd probably be Bale just because he is still young and can become a better player than he actually is, where as Young I think is just set in his way as a player.

Bale for me. More expensive but likely to be world class. Him on the left and nani on the right would be immense. We shouldn't compromise on quality - it's what we lack right now.

This is all in isolation of any other transfers though. I would deem a winger 4th priority behind a GK and 2 CMs.

Bale would command a massive price, something we cannot afford at a time we are desperately in need of reinforcements in the middle of the park.

So, if we're keen to sign a winger then it should be Young. But it's not a priority.

Bale. But never this summer, he'll cost top money which he isn't worth and we need that elsewhere.

Young, if we were going for a squad-based player, for his versatility amongst other things.

We need money to strengthen central midfield so I'd say young

I dont really get why we are rumoured to be interested in Bale when we have valencia, Nani, Park, Giggs and Cleverly all available for the wings next season. We have other parts of the tea, ie central midfield, that require urgent attention.

Depends on your muppet orientation

Muppet: Bale
Non-muppet: Young
Bi muppet: threesome

20m for Young and 40m on Bale? Unless Fergie is going to contract madness I fortunately can't see it happening. Talk about overrating mildly talented players.

That said, I could live with breaking the bank for Modric or Fabregas, although the latter is not a real option given footballers are no slaves and can't be forced to move to a certain club.

Look, if we are going to buy a squad player, we shouldn't be spending anywhere near the 15mil mark.
Seriously, a squad player should be under 10mil. In fact i'm quite sure we can get a player from another league with as much ability as Young for a much cheaper price.
The only reason Young is going for that price is because he's English.

Personaly, since it's not my money and because he has proved himself this season in the CL, i would go for Bale. Far better player, far more potential.

If it was my money, i wouldn't be in for any of them.

Bale looks more of a Utd type player than Young. I think Young will make a huge impact if he comes here similar to the way no one expected Valencia to make the kind of impact he did when he came.
But I would take Bale if we sold one of our fringe players for top dollar so that it would make it cheaper for Bale to come. He will end up at Man City though as they will easily pay the 40 million needed

£15m for Young = value. Not just because he's English or anything, but i honestly believe he is a very good talent who will thrive playing with quality players around him. Park is a fantastic squad player who does well in the so called big games, but i would love for us to have a proper left winger who has pace, flair, and a wicked cross.
