Mrs Brown's Boys Voted Best Sitcom of 21st Century

Someone must watch it, the question is why? It's like olden day comedy but done badly.

It occasionally amazes me to see some of the shows that survive on British TV. Benidorm is another prime example of frankly cringe worthy output that seems to get renewed year after year. It is actually in the top 20 on that list as well!

Whilst really good shows like People Just Do Nothing and Cuckoo exist in obscurity on BBC3

I've never seen an entire episode of the ones in bold. I've actually never even heard of some one them (number 3, 4, 9 and 20) and I watch a fair bit of telly.

Can we find everyone who voted in this and remove their right to vote in elections?

Mrs Brown's Boys is probably the worst TV show I've ever seen. It's the definition of unfunny shit.

Mods and Admins have warned me about calling things worse than a certain German head of state and Chancellor in the mid 1940's.

But this is definitely worse.

Part of it may be just that. Those left watching conventional television in the classical way are more likely to be of a certain age which means scheduling will be delivered to cater to that audience. The on-demand market (which is the growing trend and what BBC3 has become) receive the alternative content that may well be more popular but not apt for strict scheduling.

The poll was conducted by the Radio Times, which I forgot even existed, and is probably indicative of the people who still engage with that kind of media.

Those in bold worth a watch.

the office, the thick of it and detectorists are so far ahead of it, it's unreal. people are fukcing stupid.

The Thick of It is class, well worth watching just for the insults.

Gervais pisses me off big time. For someone who hates Gervais, guessing I may as well dodgy The Office or just watch the American version?

Been meaning to watch the other two you bolded though

the office with ricky gervais is the worthy winner of this award, as david brent he is immense. watch it asap. and the thick of it.

I watched about 3 minutes of it when it came out and still haven't recovered. Feck you, society.

Tbf the Office was before he was the Ricky Gervais we have now. And the American version is very good too, great cast and decent writing.

The American one is great, watch that instead.

Yup. Why would anyone want to buy a magazine to tell them which TV shows are on at what times? That information doesn't serve any purpose in 2016!

The people who don't get that are going to be the same people who like Mrs Browns Boys and vote Brexit. Who knows how their minds work.

Yeah i've never seen the attraction myself either, whenever i've tried watching it i've not lasted for more than 5 minutes without turning over.

The US version has like a million episodes so you can have it as your TV show for months. And Steve Carell is actually endearing.
It also basically 'does' the original in the first season without you having to see Gervais' irritating mug.

The only ones I like are in bold. How the hell did Brown Boys and Car Share get so high? Peter Kay is a legend - but really didn't enjoy that.

Surely the US office isn't actually better than the original though, and its four main characters? I've only seen bits and pieces of it, it seems a perfectly decent sitcom, but the Gervais/ Merchant show was one of the best pieces of television ever written.

It usually annoys me when Brits and the British media claim something or someone from Ireland.

But not today.

I'd like to ad it didn't start out as a radio play in 2011. Brendan o Carroll was popping out direct to DVD films once every 22 days back in the noughties.

The US one is better even if just for the fact it doesn't have Gervais in.

The demographics probably do skew towards a certain age group.

Why are these "of the Century" lists coming out at the seemingly arbitrary point of 16 years in? Why not at least wait for 20?

I hate that cock, too. I remember him doing some shitty video program late at night years ago, telling shit jokes and egging the audience on to laugh.

Jesus Christ. Surely Gavin & Stacey or The Office should've won. I wouldn't even place Mrs Browns Boys in the top 15.

I hate Gervais as well. But the people in this thread who claim the US office is better than the Uk one are just as bad as the people who voted Mrs Browns Boys.

The US office is a heartfelt and full series which is funny enough. The U.K. Office is one of the best things ever.
