Moussa Dembele

With Rashford, Martial and now Greenwood...I don’t think adding an expensive CF is the best use of 100 million.

Surely an older/cheaper option to cover injuries and bad form would be wiser.

What about Edouard from Celtic? Looks to be just as talented as this guy and would surely come cheaper.

Much better movement and hold up play than lukaku. He’s actually very good at heading, scores plenty from crosses.

While I don’t think he will be world class he’s a solid striker. We could do worse.

Overall he wouldnt score more than Lukaku nor do I see him overall better striker. As you said he is solid. But United dont have one solid striker so he would be an improvement

We are nuts to pay 80m or even 50m on player who doesn’t have an international football & still be considered as much much below Lukaku’s level, and I don’t need to explain more why this signing is too much of a risk. Anyone with common sense can see it. Don’t pull another Fred, a panic signing.

Ole plays high press & counter attack, means we need our attacker to have speed & work rate to press. Timo Werner is a better option & suit his system. With a release clause available, we only need to negotiate with the player himself means less complicated compared to Dembele.

Mandzukic can also be another better option than Dembele for only 1 year.

Wow 80 fecking millions for this guy? Only one club is managed by an absolute moron who would pay that. This guy is not good enough and won’t solve shit.

Just activate Timo Werner's release clause of 30m euros and instead of paying 60m+ for Dembele who is a lesser player.

He would be a huge flop for the quoted money. Looks too slow in transitions and kind of clumsy, these sort of tricks and moves will never work in the PL.

Exactly what I was thinking. When a player looks clumsy in his own compilation, you know it's time to steer well clear

Absolutely this. Shouldn’t discount him because of the league he plays in. Probably best player in the SPL.

I mentioned him last week. He has the profile of a player on the rise.

Very similar to Dembele but £50m earlier.

You have to wonder why we don't pick up more players like this, given our purported 'Profits come first' way of doing business.

I just put on the realistic transfer thread - Edouard, Ascacibar, Olmo, Chukwueze - Four top young players even an idiot like me has seen a bit of who ( I imagine) would cost less combined than AWB & Maguire, all filling glaring gaps in the squad. I'm sure there's tons of other options out there that people more in the know will have seen of a similar low profile.

No need to be throwing big money at the likes of dembele.

6 goals from 7 games. All against minnows.

Better passer than Lukaku but severe downgrade in terms of aerial ability.

1.9 aerial duels won per game this season (4.1 for Lukaku)

A downgrade in aerial ability from Lukaku? He could barely win a header for us?!

For the type of striker that he is, Dembélé is fine in the air. He isn't a target man and much smaller than Lukaku.

Werner is not an upgrade on Rashford or Martial, he is another inconsistent finisher

Again,my point was purely based on statistics. I have not seen this guy play.

Dembélé is decent in the air, he is comparable to strikers like Lewandowski. But obviously a poor version.

Werner has never looked like the answer to me, especially for Germany. Their fall from the top table of International football is largely because they lack a number 9. Too small. You've got to be Aguero to be that size and play down the middle on your own. He's not that.

80M is absolutely insane, talking about 70M for Rice as well in January, that would be an insane waste of money, Dembele looks decent and scores goals but he is an impact player at Lyon.

Would personally be happy with Manduzkic for free until the summer and then go from there

Thing that makes me laugh is Werner 30M, Van Der Beek 35M and Ziyech 35M were all available for their buy out clauses, that is a top class CM, RW and CF for 100M.

United being United, 150M on Dembele and Rice, wow

80m for Dembele? They must be having a laugh. Just throw 50m on Belotti and have this position sorted. Else if we truly believe that Martial/Rashford are top striker and Mason 6 chances for 1 goal Greenwood can do the job then buy Mertens. He'll serve us well for the next 1-2 years

A 23 year old French player uncapped at international level who has Giroud as their striker says enough really.

And yet no other club also went for them so either they aren't as available as you believe or simply not that highly rated .

I would absolutely be taking a punt on Odsonne Edouard. I get to see him a lot playing for Celtic and I think he is quality, by far the best player in the league up here. He's fast, holds the ball up well, can beat a man, can up top by himself and bring others into play, presses from the front. I would be very happy to see us take a chance on him.

Well Munich want to wait until this summer for Werner so they don't have to pay anything for him, Van Der Beek was Madrid's fall back option if Pogba did not work out but they obviously still want him and how no one went for Ziyech is baffling as he is still tearing it up domestically and in the Champions League.

Also, it is not "what I believe" but what VDS has actually said re the buy out clauses of both the Ajax lads and Werner clause came into effect in the last year of his contract.

And as for not being rated, give me them 3 over Rashford, Fred and fecking Lingard any day of the week.

Giroud is pretty good for France and basically unbenchable, the only player that can do that is Mbappé. He is the french Podolski.

I wouldn't pay silly money for Dembele but he's a better option for United than Werner. Bigger, stronger and more suited to the PL. Has goals in him too.
