Mourinho at full time: "Pogba a virus. You don't play. You don't respect players/fans" [Castles]

Unfortunately, Pogba was also booed by France fans.

Pogba was fantastic in the World cup, which is an anomaly in his international career.

He was fantastic in those friendlies before the world cup this year and was a starter in the team that went to the Euro 2016 final. Any France fan with half a brain should be able to see the difference with him in that team and without him, as was evident by the lack of creativity in France's last match against Netherlands when Pogba was injured.

Ah yeah, first time Pogba's ever put in a pub level performance for us. I wonder if your head could handle it if someone wanted both Mourinho and Pogba to leave. It would shatter your whole world view.
What are you talking about?

The game against Netherland had nothing to do with creativity and Pogba would have changed absolutely nothing. The issue was the lack of intensity and the fact that the team was late on every single duels.

Fans need to get it out their heads - Fergie was a one off. He also earned the respect he had and unconditional support. Jose disgraces our club, and still they back him.
Fergie said what he said in good faith, but I guarantee he wouldn't be backing Jose if he were in charge. Plus Fergie said back the manager - he didn't say to disengage your brain. How they can't see Jose for what he is I don't know.
I doubt even in fergies worst fears he expected it to get this bad. Probably just thought a few dodgy results here and there.

Makes zero sense whatsoever but we're the only big club fanbase in Europe who have deified the position of the manager to such an extent

I know and it's going to be the death of us. Managers can and do fail, why are we the only club that has to make logic leaps to back managers until we're on our death bed. There is no valor in this approach whatsoever.

Its pretty obvious really. Since you are so obsessed with Mourinho you create strawman after strawman to try to make it as some sort of Jose in vs out.

Many fans have been waiting for Pogba to turn a corner for 3 seasons now. Yet he has still not eliminated aspects of his game that you would expect of a top midfielder. Its gotten to a point where certain aspects of his game are just not going to change since he's almost finished developing.

Its pretty obvious that you can't build a team around him, largely due to his ridiculously low bottom level. So its not unreasonable for a fan to want to sell Pogba to fund a more balanced team. Nothing against the player, he just doesn't suit the team's needs. He'd probably look amazing if we already had a world class squad but that's not what we have here.

What the feck are you on about? I want his ass out yes, but don't insult me by saying I'm 'obsessed' with that poor excuse for a man.

And fans want lots of other players out too, but they don't boo them do they? No, they act like sheep and allow Mourinho to manipulate them.

You sure do take a Jose centric view of the world for someone not obsessed with him. I want Jose out as well, but I don't create conspiracies just to shoehorn him as the big bad evil. That is why I called you obsessed.

Pogba being booed has little to do with fans wanting him out and booing players has never been about that. Booing is about players and manager not giving it their all to win the game, always has been at OT. If Pogba was dropped after a MOTM performance last week then he would be cheered on by the crowd, that is clear and obvious.

Difficult to disagree with Jose but those comments do nothing to help the situation.

Huge fan of Pogba but there is no reason to keep him either if PSG or Madrid come calling with a huge offer. He doesn't come out unscathed if/when Jose is sacked and it's a shame b/c I honestly believe the main reason for his poor play is tactics.

The people wanting pogba out are absolutely mental. We should get rid of the most consistently quality player in our team?

Why not try and see him under a manager who actually knows how to create a cohesive attack and then judge him.

No doubt. There's certainly blame on both sides here. My sole, simple, indisputable point is that there is no excuse for Pogba or anyone else not giving everything when they take the field.

Great post. So many people on this forum who seem incapable of grasping nuance. It's possible to be annoyed at Pogba for not putting in effort/making stupid decisions but also to think Mourinho has lost his marbles. I expect better from both and I don't think either's failures exonerates the other from responsibility for their own actions.

It doesn't surprise me. These are the fans that backed David Moyes to his dying days. I wonder which player Jose will turn on next when we drop further behind in the coming weeks.

And possibly the same fans who booed Sir Alex Ferguson(!) over noted mercenary Carlos 'Loyalty' Tevez.

I did back Moyes till the end. It was the post Fergie era and I was really optimistic and thought chopping and changing wouldn't help us. Letting go of Pogba is the stupidest thing we could do right now and would be suicide. As a club we are in desperate need for world class players but people aren't willing to see that

Amazingly, some people are apparently unable to grasp this rather simple point.

Not really, people have just been manipulated into thinking that Pogba's inconsistencies and alleged attitude problems outweigh his already excellent ability and even more massive potential. In fact if you were referring to the Mourinho backers, some of them would be the first to demand world class players in every position.

The way i see it pogba is playing for himself. He seems to overcomplicate things with his dribbling. Yes he's a good player but when he dribbles without purpose instead of playing q simple pass (which most of the times he does after showcasing his dribble). As if he doesnt care if we win or lose as long as he has a good game.

There are instances when he choose to dribble during a break where a simple pass through would be more rewarding for the team.

I think being the biggest star in the team without senior players to tell him off is a factor. No way he would pull that shit in juve.

Pogba gets very little leeway from some fans as compared to other players such as Martial. Pogba pretty much carried us through the past few months, but a couple of bad games and people are back to questioning everything from his ability, his attitude, his love of the club etc. Criticism is deserved for his performances and perhaps effort, but calling for him to be sold is just nuts.

I'd be hesitant to judge any of our players under this incompetent, poisonous version of Mourinho we have now, let alone the one who has demonstrated by far the highest ceiling of any of them.

Rashford does that, so does Martial. Thats an issue of coaching and strategy, not the player though. Pogba wouldn't do that at Juventus because they were coached properly and knew what they were supposed to do across the entire pitch. We are clueless in the final third. We're setup as a counter attacking team by stepping off and not putting pressure on our opponents in midfield. We haven't scored one counter attacking goal in the PL this season according to whoscored.

We're a team with no real direction, no identity and we just float through games. Putting the blame on Pogba as Jose has done is outrageous.

You choose the wrong example to try and make your point. Go read the first 40 pages of the Martial thread.

People were tearing into the guy for going to attend his child's birth over some meaningless pre season games.

Probably... but the get out phrase here seems to be "bad coaching". It's as if the one and only problem is coaching.

I honestly dont think jose becomes shit overnight. I dont. He might be outdated and probably his man management is not suitable. But i seriously doubt coaching is the only issue, i even doubt it is that big of an issue. Until we get that mysterious issue that's been looming on us post fergie any other manager wont be bale to optimally coach us.

Hugely talented but was total gash against Southampton. Played with little maturity.

It's not the only issue, but it is the quickest to fix.

In both cases, people have been manipulated by the thundercnut. It's sad that has happened, but it was to be expected at some point, he's got history of trying to manipulate fan opinion against his own players. He must be absolutely loving it.

You think Zidane done all the work? Plently players allowed him to play same for Toure. He’s only not here because he plays in a crap team. We need him not the other way round.
You cannot seriously compare any of zidanes world cup triumphs with pogbas just concluded world cup, he was on a different level especially in 2006 and to some extent even '98 which is remembered only for his final. We need pogba but it is because of how much we invested in him and that we don't have any other flair players apart from him and Martial. Get those and he isn't so irreplaceable anymore. He certainly doesn't fit into any of the midfield positions squarely because he does one role well which is in part to blame on him always playing with vidal, pirlo and Marchisio at juve which allowed him those highlight reel moments.

I'm late, but this thread is pretty eye-opening to be honest. The amount of blind sycophancy to a guy who has been genuinely taking the piss out of the fans for months now is pretty alarming. Hope he pulls the finger out of the next few weeks and picks it up over the Christmas period.

Three of the club's best ever are Cantona Beckham and Ronaldo, and a little bit of player ego has you all riled up? How come Pogba bothers you so much?? I can't put my finger on it, but there's something different about Pogba. Difference for the other 3 was they weren't playing in a midtable side like Pogba is. If you like players like Fellaini and Young and whatever other soldiers get you off, then why is Man Utd your team? Why not watch a real midtable side of jammy grafters like Everton or something?

We're a club built for egos that needs big egos to set us apart. Fergie always had them and/or sought them. The problem is the lowest common denominator in the squad today is much worse than it was then. The Fellainis and the Youngs and the Valencias and the Lukakus and McTominays and Lingards - soldiers that play for the shirt as you like - are not Scholes, Keane, Neville, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Cole, Yorke, Giggs, Carrick, Stam...and well I could go on but you SHOULD get the point.
What has who plays for the club have anything to do with your support for the said club? You support the club no matter who we have as players if you are a true fan. To me it seems as if you are a fan of a certain player and not Man Utd.

That comment reeks of todays fantasy football fanboyism. You don't get to pick and choose who plays for your team.

:lol:Amount of blind devotion to the guy who shat on the club, players and everyone is just hilarious. fecking hell even opposition fans are chanting "Jose we want you to stay" should tell everything.

If this is a choice between the 2 like so many think it is, I'm with Pogba. There is no upside in keeping Jose and if we wanna sell Pogba down the line, it means he has more value and importance than Jose. Mourinho will be remembered as a manager who wasted close to half a billion

You mean the Mourinho supporters? Goes without saying that they would.

Regardless, the (online) fanbase in general has far more patience for Martial than Pogba even when he puts out bad / disinterested performances.

Yea but that was because someone else had a go first at him, then drones jumped in doing the same.

The issue is board. After Moyes, We kept hiring big name managers and sign several big name players hoping that it will work. It didn't and it's still not working. They were too reliant on Sir Alex and I feel like They're still expecting another figure like Sir Alex. No other big club handled managerial transition as bad as ours. Look at Madrid, Barca, Bayern.

As long as the club lacks a direction and keep thinking if throwing money at problems will solve them, We'll never move forward. The most telling sign was when Woodward extended Mourinho's contract and decided not to back him in the transfer market. We're still as clueless as ever, clueless during Moyes era and still clueless now. By the end of the day, it's everyone's fault but the people with the highest power are more responsible because this is no longer only about the performances on the field. A lot of decisions made by the club are questionable. Woodward need a help because the Glazers know nothing about football, They better hire someone who does.
