Most Overrated and Underrated?

Over: Smalling by miles. People on here act as if he's Ferdinand.

Under: Blind/Morgan. Blind has been our best defender this year, and we are a more suspect side defensively without Morgan.

Overrated: Rooney, Darmian, Wilson
Underrated: Lingard, Young, Schneiderlin

Overrated: Herrera, Mata, Januzaj, Wilson.

Underrated: Lingard.

I would play Lingard ahead of any of the above.

Overrated: Herrera
Underrated: Lingard

Caf/Whoscored:

01. Shaw = 1st
02. De Gea > 18th
03. Fosu-Mensah > 13th
04. Martial < 2nd
05. Rashford = 5th
06. Smalling < 3rd
07. Schweinsteiger > 14th
08. Borthwick-Jackson > 19th
09. Romero > 27th
10. Varela = 10th

For what it's worth (which is close to nothing, in my opinion - but there it is).

Overrated: Lingard, Varela.

Underrated: Rooney, Darmian

Regarding Blind: If someone is called underrated by more than 70 % he is not really underrated anymore. Good Player and glad to have him here.

Haha brilliant. So according to this our most overrated player is David de Gea and our most underrated player is Chris Smalling

Underrated: Even if he only have one leg, Valencia has always been a consistent performer and cause threats every time he makes a run. He's also very strong and defensively quite good.

Overrated: Herrera. The guy is a likable chap and his devotment to the club is beyond any doubt. But he never showed he can be our main creative force and i doubt he ever will. He's a good squad player tough.

I wouldn't jump into the Fellaini is underrated wagon. Yes he does break up play, and is a great target man but he is technically obsolete. The discussion should be he's not the type of player we want playing in our team not that he doesnt have a contribution, any contribution.

The very fact that he is still wearing the red shirt pretty much defeat your argument.

I agree that he is not of the required standard, but hes actually performed very well on a number of occasions for us. Hes not as awful as people like to make out. He totally outshone the caf darling, ander herrera, in midweek. And was less likely to get sent off as well.

I'll go with my view based on the fans on the Caf.

Overrated: Herrera and Schweinsteiger

Underrated: Fellaini and Valencia (although opinion might be turning around on him),

Overrated: Memphis by a country mile. I've seen nothing to think he has the ability to live up to his "potential" either.
Underrated: Daley Blind. A great buy, consistent.

Mata polarises people.

For me, he gets a lot of criticism but it stems from how he has been used - LVG has poorly managed him.

I got that but it doesn't make sense. 18th best United player this season? I would struggle to even name TWO players better than DDG this season never mind 17!
It's more to do with how goalkeepers are rated on whoscored probably. We concede the 4th lowest amount of shots per game, the lowest amount from outside the box and the highest percentage from inside the 18 yard box. All translate to less speculative efforts vs De Gea and more clear cut chances. Quality of chances is a hard thing to measure and De Gea doesn't get the luxury of 7-8 saves every game. He'll also probably have a higher parry-to-save ratio than others too.

Sorry, what? By whom exactly? Have you read his thread on here; he gets absolutely ripped apart.

Overrated is too difficult but I think Januzaj needs to justify the hype although he has shown moments of class, the very little I've seen of him in the u21s seems to suggest he is so much more talented than he has shown but I believe he thrives on playing centrally and part of me thinks he will only really be successful at a team where he is the main attacking outlet/playmaker so will struggle to fit in. His defensive work rate and ability also suggests to me he is a luxury player.

Underrated is Ashley Young for me. He has been consistent (more noticeably to me) since Moyes took the job. He can take on his man and deliver a good cross as well as being able to cut inside which is something Valencia is criticised for being unable to do. Young also has the ability/downfall of being a steady Eddie in every position which has been utilised by LVG this season, this jack of all trades ability perhaps complimented by his high work rate in all areas of the game. He was along with others a driving force behind our good form towards the end of last season and in my opinion was one of our better players this year but I think we would benefit more should we play him on the wing.

Underrated - Blind. Very good midfielder who has transitioned seamlessly into a very good centre back. Gets next to no credit from the media, fans of other clubs never seem to rate him, and even United fans tend to want him 'replaced with someone better'. In a team with a functional attack he would look even better.

There's a reason he doesn't get any credit. He is rubbish.
