Most misspelled football player names in history? (excluding Eastern Europe)

I have seen “McGuire’ one too many times here to describe a shite English defender who some may think is actually Irish.
 
I don't get the obsession with misspelled names. I don't get why we are expected to be always write when we are dealing with Polish, Greek, Senegalese or Armenian names. And in some cases we are misspelling the anglicized versions. Take Tsimikas for example which as a sound is Chemekas. So, if someone hears Chemekas, it's easy to write it down as that.

Anyway, Jaaskelainen. I m sure I ve messed it.

The good thing is that would help many English speaking people pronounce it better.
 
Anders Lindegaard.

Obviously a very danish/nordic name, but I lost count of the number of variations I saw on here.
Didn't help to have Lingard in the squad at the time though. What a mess it was.

Been spelling it like that till late last year. Someone was rude enough to correct me. A search for Mcguire in my post history is embarrassing :nervous:
 
Probably mentioned already (can't be arsed, etc.) - but "Linekar" is one that's always annoyed me.

Also, on that same e/a note - but not a player: Seria A.
 
Despite his nearly 25 years of association with the club, I always struggle to spell Ole’s surname.

As for other players, Stefan Kuntz gets misspelt a lot on here, although I don’t know why a 90s German footballer is referred to so often in the CE thread on Boris Johnson’s government.

I can't spell Morgan Schneiderlin. Every time I have to write his name, I copy it from Google. Well, he was a forgettable player anyway so no much of a problem.
 
Bruno Fernandes ... A lot of people misspell (Fernandez) and mispronounce his name (it is "Fair-nansh")!
 
Not a player but the amount of people who thing Rodgers name is Rogers pisses me off more than it should.

I’ve been guilty of a few. For some reason I’d put the H in Cherki in the wrong place thinking it was Cerkhi. Mkhitarayn was beyond me for ages, so I went with Micky Targaryen. And Kvaratskhelia is a fecking nightmare to get right.

Back in the 80s when he first joined, I swear loads of people used to say Alec Ferguson instead of Alex. But that was before the times of forums so I never saw it written that way.

One of the commentators used to always call him this, even to the end of his career. Tyldesley on ITV maybe?
 
One of the good things about Thomas Müller's career at Bayern ending is that I won't have to read "Muller" anymore. No, the two dots are not optional. No, the correct substitute when one understandably does not have "ü" on their keyboard isn't "u", it's "ue", so Mueller.

For the current United squad, in this forum, I feel that it's probably Altay Bayindir. I swear it feels like a fifth of United fans spell him wrong. Poor dude doesn't even have any special characters or a complicated name.
