Only just found out about this and his thread is already on to page 21.

What does he do, where does he play?

He is 19 and plays a DM role. Judging from this topic, he is obviously a much more talented player than the Brazilian Dunga ever was

I 've heard from a lot of observers that he's more box-to-box. Looking at the vids, he loves to drive forward

What is it 5 goals and 2 assists in his 30 club games
And 1 goal and 2 assists in 4 games for the national team
Relatively small number of games but the stats alone suggest more than a dm type... that said we thought we were getting an attacking midfielder who liked breaking with pace and scoring goals in Anderson and ended up with a defensive midfielder who liked eating lots of pies and was more likley to score hookers (though to be classy with it)

I doubt most of us have more than some stats the odd article and YouTube video to judge him on.

Not sure if he will feature for the u23 or 1st team if he joins us ... equally not sure what he will make of a Manchester winter but a southamerican midfielder who can bring a blend of shithousery and flair I'm all in for that

He got into the country as an 8-year-old migrant. Those who witnessed the signing said that the brothers owned only the clothes they had on them. His rise to prominence was ridiculously quick. Played for one of the best academies in the country. Known to be one of the best prospects in the country. Can play anyway in the midfield.

We are waiting for his passport and work permit to clear.

Here we go...

I guess you are talking about Amad ...

Who was Roy Keane, a DM or a box to box? This guy plays in a similar way
Started out as a more attacking CM but after Bryan Robson encouraged him to do more in the DM role too, he became an all round midfielder.

I hope your comparison proves to be true

A detailed breakdown on how he passes the Work Permit issue without us having to pay 10s of millions of pounds as in the case of Amad Diallo. Click on the tweet and follow the thread.

The 'famous work permit? eh? Interesting and intruiging

We seem to be getting stacked with future talent. I can't see the point if they're never going to be given the opportunity. Hopefully that won't be the case. Pellestri's already putting in the numbers so expecting to see him on the bench in the near future.

Caicedo looks a real talent/prospect though. Hope we manage these younglings properly.
Because we are known for never giving young talent opportunities..

Did we pay tens of millions for Diallos permit? Or was that incorporated in the transfer fee?

I heard that for the work permit to be legalized it needs to be signed by Boris Johnson himself

Have we actually signed Caicedo or are we just in negotiations? I keep hearing other clubs such as Chelsea are in for him as well.

Chelsea aren’t. Fake news
They even have a picture of Michael Estrada instead of Caicedo in the report. It’s pathetic

So the reason why Diallo cost 40 million is not necessarily because he was some super talent a la Messi, but it was due to the fact that he would not have passed the 15 point system. If you pay a transfer that kind of money, you can justify to the British Government that Diallo is due an exemption from the 15 point rule because his purchase is “is a significant investment” by the club. Diallo hasn’t played for Cote de Ivoire yet, but big money always helps. It is complete going to Atalanta but the fact United paid so much, gives good grounds for the Govt to give the work permit.

Here is Former Lucchese Director and Italy Goalkeeper Gio Galli saying that. He’s not big fish in the Italian football world but he knows how business is done.

I’ve heard all sorts so far, he plays DM I’m sure but I’ve heard he’s a kante-Pogba figure rolled into one.

I just put my fingers in my ears and did the whole 'NYAH NYAH I CAN'T HEAR YOU' thing.

I don't think the 15 point system had even been agreed upon before the Diallo transfer was announced.

Doesnt make sense. Surely we would just target someone else instead of overinflating a transfer fee for an above average youngster?

Pretty sure under the new rules the cost of the transfer has nothing to do with whether they get a permit or not. The fact he’s pushed to get an Italian passport tells me we’re trying to get it through under the old rules before January.

I see it this way. Our scouts think this kid is indeed the next big thing and were convinced that anything and everything needed to be done to get him. Remember we weren't the only ones after him, Juve were a shoe-in but we beat them to it. Diallo was due to head to Parma and do a Kulesevski, who also came from Atalanta and went to Parma on loan as an audition for Juve. This kid was making noise with his skills, but our youth scouting has been out of this world ever since Nicky Butt took over. We scouted and talked to Atalanta for a YEAR.

So Ole was convinced and so was the board. 20 odd million pounds and the rest add ons rising upto the 40 million. United believe in this kid, hence why we went the extra mile for the fees as well. For Atalanta sure, but for the work permit as well.

Precisely this transfer was done under the old rules, where size of investment is still a factor.

No he would fail the system if applied. Hence getting the kid under an exemption is the only thing that makes sense to me.

United wouldn't have known what the new system was going to be at that point so it wouldn't have come into their thinking. They were likely just relying on him getting his Italian passport before January being enough.

You misunderstand. The points based system was there in 2020 as well.
