They need reinforcement in midfield. Dahoud should be OK but they won’t get away playing Groß there against sides better than Luton, Gilmour hasn’t been that good and Enciso looks better higher up the pitch. It’s surprising they haven’t brought a Caceido replacement yet.
But they will be next year and amortisation would have to follow UEFA guidelines then.
For the right player, we absolutely will. We’ll be slipping into Brighton / Spurs tier in no time we can’t compete with this spending along with City , Toon, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool all able to spend 100m on a single player.
We’ve never spent that and never will under glazers or INEOS
Caicedo = long term Kante replacementThe fact they're genuinely trying sign Lavia as well is beyond bonkers.
No chance , Caciedo is an open goal for Utd , reportedly his dream was to play for us and a big fan. If we put down 115m he’d be in our shirt by now.For the right player, we absolutely will.
Apart from Chelsea, i dont see any other team spending that lavishly. We’ll be slipping into Brighton / Spurs tier in no time we can’t compete with this spending along with City , Toon, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool all able to spend 100m on a single player.

One funny thing that came out of this transfer is that everyone know Liverpool has 110m allocated for a midfielder. They should brace themselves for some weird evaluations in next few weeks

Chelsea spending in last year has been insane though.
The deal from what I read is £100m base, with £15m add on. I can only imagine that incentivized Brighton to accept a deal because they didnt want to accept a lower base than the Liverpool offer. I m not sure, more details will definitely come out on the structure of the deal.
What was the Liverpool deal? because this tweet makes the Chelsea deal make even less sense to me..
Somehow Chelsea offered Brighton an even better deal than the one Liverpool got. Why didnt Chelsea just say "Hey Caicedo doesn't wanna go there, whatever you accepted from Liverpool we will do that".
We were never going to sign Caicedo while Casemiro is still at his current level. The timing simply wasn't right. No chance , Caciedo is an open goal for Utd , reportedly his dream was to play for us and a big fan. If we put down 115m he’d be in our shirt by now.
We need. Top class striker if you put 120m down for Kane he’d be playing for us now.
Instead we are sweating over 30m for Pavard and need Maguire to be sold to do it.
We are a legacy old school club operating like the football world hasn’t moved on from 5 years ago. There have been disruptors in the market and we would not and can not respond as we don’t have the facility or capability to do so.
Even if we had the cash the negotiation team isn’t capable of pulling off the deal at all, not quick enough to respond to the likes of Liverpool or Chelsea.
We’re miles behind
Around £111m with no mention of ad ons. But, it seems like chelsea based of Ornstein offered higher base than liverpool. Then there are other reports that some of the adds on will unlikely be met and that the figure will be closer to around what they paid for Enzo. I agree it won’t make sense if chelsea end up paying significantly more, but i am sure the structure of the deal will reveal the true cost. I doubt caicedo will end up becoming the most expensive midfielderWhat was the Liverpool deal? because this tweet makes the Chelsea deal make even less sense to me..

Even as a Man Utd fan, if I'm a young star player and offered the choice of Liverpool under Klopp or Chelsea under whoever, I'm picking Liverpool every time unless the financial difference is huge. Assuming I believe in myself I'm only 25 at the end of a 5 year contract and can sail off to Madrid or whatever at that point. You don't actually have to live in Liverpool!
That said, this is great for us. Liverpool have basically no midfield screening force whatsoever. Klippity Klopp will have to invest in a different probably inferior player now, and overpay as they are desperate.
I really don't know what point your trying to make other than the obvious. We don't have the money to sit at that table unless the Qataris win.No chance , Caciedo is an open goal for Utd , reportedly his dream was to play for us and a big fan. If we put down 115m he’d be in our shirt by now.

One thing people seem to forget is a 8-10 years contract means if the players arent up to expectations, they cant be let go if they dont want to and other clubs will often exploit this by lowballing. But if a player is doing very well theyll have so much power than they can just kickup a fuss and the club will have no choice but to sell rather than having a valuable asset rotting on the bench. It really is a stupid strategy. Usually you try to find a middle ground in a contract but Chelsea seems to favor players more than themselves.Boehly's project will crash and burn. Their finances are fecked. The squad isn't even that good for the all the insane spending and this 'clever' 8 year contract nonsense. The fact that they've included a sell-on clause in a £115m deal is absolute madness. The whole thing is bizarre in the extreme.
What’s REALLY weird about the sell on clause though …. If he does SO well that the elite of elite are going to try and buy him… who would that be?Like wtf?! Pay over £110m AND still have to concede a portion of funds if he's sold by Chelsea?
Brighton have played an absolute blinder....and fair play.
Caicedo = long term Kante replacement
Enzo = long term Jorginho replacement
Lavia = long term Kova replacement
When you look at it like that it doesn’t seem so insane. We’ve sold or let go of 4 CM’s over the last 12 months. If Lavia comes in we’ll almost surely be selling Gallagher, too. So losing 5 and signing 3 isn’t that bonkers.
The money spent IS bonkers, of course.
