I'm still not convinced he'll end up at Chelsea. I'm expecting to wake up to the news he's signed for Liverpool

I’ve had an amazing day in WhatsApp groups full of Liverpool mates.A Liverpool supporting friend sent me a tweet about Liverpool bid for Caicedo was accepted today to rub it in my face.
You can imagine my joy when about 1 hour later i could send him back a tweet about Caicedo snubbing Liverpool
It’s Chelsea or nowhere. No chances he’s going Liverpool after publicly turning his back on them. I’m not sure Liverpool would even pursue it now.

Because from the outside it does seem it was pretty clear 100 was the intended (low) target.
Liverpool should never have withdrawn from the Bellingham deal or the Mbappe one for that matter.

I mean that the only mention of any sort of fee came from the media. In interviews/discussions with Sky Sports News and other outlets, Paul Barber repeatedly said the player wasn’t for sale. This was the club’s bargaining position. When the club rejected Arsenal’s offers in January for the player, the same thing happened.
Previously with Ben White, the club turned down £28m from Leeds before he’d ever kicked a ball in the PL - one season later Arsenal paid £50m. Again, the messaging was “not for sale”.
Same with Cucurella, officially not for sale and declined £35m from Manchester City. Sold to Chelsea for £62m a few weeks later. At no point was the player on the market or were the club publicly acknowledging they were listening to offers.
My point is that the club don’t set asking prices, they simply reject offers until they match their own (internal, not public) valuation.
The £100m fee was a media narrative from the very start, which tied in nicely to Declan Rice’s sale in recent weeks to give it extra “weight”.

Being purely factual, I'll say it seems that internal undisclosed valuation was higher than 80m£ (or 90... can't remember too many bids) but met by 111m£... So 100 wasn't too far off the mark

It's elevate us from cl spot contenders to title challengers if we signed both lavia and caicedo. Of course it's not easy to topple city but I expect minimum 85 points from league. Pochettino you got the tools now it's in your hand.

Unless Sterling and Mudryk get going then you're lacking fire power, especially without Nkunku. I don't think Madueke looks anything amazing and I think you need to upgrade on him. Off the top of my head you don't have another RW do you?

Chelsea spending more money on players on long-term contracts. This will not end well. Essentially they are pushing FFP to its limits by bringing forward years of spending to today. That will work if the players all click, but if they don't they can't buy new ones. Seems iffy especially in an elevated transfer market.
The word was that Rui Costa, who I believe is the president of Benfica, tried to persuade Enzo Fernandez to wait until the summer and join a club that was more "stable." Potter had not left by then and Boehly was hijacking deal after deal.
It was one of the reasons why the transfer took so long.
When this guy was signing for the dippers, it would “put them right in the title race.” Nobody saying a word now he’s going to Chelsea.

Still want Caicedo… not sure I get going after both. I know we have a few people in important spots in our organization hat have been involved with him from a young age, but I didn’t like how the Adams thing played out, and I don’t want Santos losing minutes.

Even if the unlikely happens and we sign both Caicedo and Lavia we won’t get near the title. Not unless some unexpected goal machine is signed before the deadline. But the minimum requirement for this season has to be 4th. We will be by far the freshest big club and will have more time on the training pitch than any of them as well.
We witnessed firsthand as Chelsea supporters that you can go from the mud to the top in the span of a season without any other competitions distracting us. Went from 10th to champions. That won’t happen with this machine of a City side, but we have to finish in the UCL places after this expenditure.
