So they got an official bid from an unknown email address??

Woodward and Judge got a new club?

Their bid for Rice was open & the pull of Guardiola/City will tempt a player like Caicedo, who is already edgy, to revolt. Why would they go anonymous and weaken their position? This sounds like something Boehly would do.
So he is bidding against himself? :wenger:

I'd expect us to maybe go in for him next summer if he's still available

Caicedo must be fuming, gives us an opportunity to go for him next summer though.

Hopefully chelsea now move on and get another midfielder before season starts.

He’s not a pure DM, so I don’t know where he fits in our team.

 There fans told us we funded this transfer.
It was actually our fans telling us we funded their transfer. That was a bit nonsensical anyway. But the bigger concern for Chelsea is they are seriously short of depth with a week of the start of the season remaining.

See, if Brighton admit they do t think ANY club would match their valuation this Summer, then by their own reasoning they made the valuation outside of reason, therefore “unreasonable”, and therefore publicly admitting a lie to their player.

They already intrinsically broke their promise when they tried to hold the deal hostage pending another player (Colwill).

I can’t imagine any of this will go over well with Caicedo, or any other player they try to convince they’re “helping” in the future.

Or perhaps, and here's a controversial thought, a football club just genuinely wants to keep one of their best players, especially given they have been selling players and managers left right and centre for nearly 2 years.

Still expect Todd to pay the money.

Mon another note, can’t believe some many posters wanted us to Dance with Brighton and Spurs over players. We would have been in big trouble.

Why would Chelsea sign Sanchez for £25m then?(way above current valuation?) I call bs especially when their are other 2nd choice keeper that Chelsea would have gotten.

Deal will be done for a package around £90m perhaps even £100m if chelsea put in that offer. But, I do not see why Chelsea doesn't just go for lavia/Alverez or test the water with Touchameni. Caceido isn't worth that much. £80m max with Performance based ad on is the best offer for him.

Why did this idiot not ask for a release clause in his new contract after spending all of the last window complaining about how he wished he could play for united, arsenal, real etc - anyone but brighton?

I find it staggering why players don't routinely insist on a reasonable release clause when sitting down to put pen to paper on their new contract.

Brighton not selling to Chelsea for a price Chelsea want = the end of Brighton. Brighton don't solely exist to "help" players move to bigger clubs. Regardless, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Or alternatively they could say that Chelsea set the price by paying what they did for Enzo, which was then compounded by Arsenal paying what they did for Rice, and if Moises has a problem with Brighton not letting him go on the cheap maybe he needs to address his complaints to Boehly. So far as the bolded is concerned I don't think other players will care one way or another, Brighton have a track record of developing players and Chelsea fans boo hooing that Tony Bloom won't let them pull his pants down is not going to have any effect at all.

Boehly will pay £100m eventually for Caicedo. Process might drag until the end of the transfer window. It's really a shame we couldn't get him. United fan, would've fixed our DM situation for the next 10 years. But, the takeover didn't happen, Glazer goblins are still the problem and here we are...

That price is actually pretty much spot on for his valuation, 25 years old Spanish International but qualifies as Home Grown due to coming through an English Academy. He has been a regular PL starter for 3 seasons and by most metrics is far superior to Kepa, he is not being bought as 2nd choice regardless of what might get said over the next few days.

Go over to North Stand Chat. They’re calling him their 3rd choice keeper and it’s about £10-12M more than most of their fans expected for Sanchez. Also show me the metrics that shows ‘far superior’ than Kepa, because what I’ve seen actually show he’s worse than him.

Chelsea paid 100m for a midfielder after six month in the Portuguese league and yet are refusing to do the same for another highly rated midfielder whose done it in the EPL. I think what Brighton are asking is fair considering the current market.
Brighton will keep signing this players because the Caicedos of this world wouldn't turn down the opportunity to play in the EPL. If you really want him pay up.

Stand corrected on the metrics. I was looking at data from the beginning of last year and your keeper was Mendy. I am shocked at how much Kepa improved last year considering where he was although Sanchez is the better sweeper so a lot will depend on how Poch plans to play. The 3rd choice keeper stuff is largely down to him falling out with RDB, he was their undisputed starter under Potter and was seen as a potential keeper for a Big 6 club but there was a falling out along the lines of whatever happened with Trossard and it was clear he had no future there. I think if those improvements from Kepa are maintained you are going to have one of the best GK situations in the league this season with two starting caliber players.
