They’re bonkers to turn it down if the 175 bid is legit.
Best hope is he starts sulking and doesn't perform at all because he wants the £££ - entirely possible. Would love to see it.

Exactly. If Saudi’s were out of the picture there is no way Liverpool turn this down but they know they’ll still get paid next summer and they’ll need Salah to drag them through some games this season due to transition and number of games.
Why wouldn't Salah want that money now? Would be like, what £200m a year? He's not got anything left to achieve at LFC.

You've gotta be pissed if you're Liverpool - why didn't a bid like this come in earlier.

This is interesting. Liverpool could cash in on a 31 year old and get £150m! That's v decent. But... it would change the feeling at that club, he's by far their standout, special player, he's brilliant. I'm torn on this... I don't like the Saudi cash just changing the nature of football..and it is... have you watched any of the games? The standard is so, so, so very ordinary...and the atmosphere is just, well, it lacks passion.. But it's about greed. And Greed is never, ever a positive thing.

It would be a bit like if we got that offer for Bruno. Difficult choice with that crazy amount of money.

That's not a good offer for Liverpool, it would write off a season in which they believe they can be contenders for the title, and who knows how far today's £150m would even go by the time they can properly use it next summer? Would be wiser to turn it down, accept a lower offer next year with proper replacements in place so they don't drop off dramatically.

No, I don't agree actually. Bruno is a v v good player.. but he is not irreplaceable.

You will not replace Mo Salah. No way.

Because Klopp was very public in his criticisms of the Saudi league transfer window closing 2 weeks after Europe so they’re making him look like a twat.

Chances of him going now seem pretty low unless Liverpool can replace him today somehow or he's going on strike, other disruption and they feel they have to sell without replacing etc.

Chances of him leaving at the end of the season, something in the region of 100% I think?

They’re not title contenders and they know it. They could turn this down, qualify for CL and make less than this offer right now.
its 3 months without a replacement basically 2 if they hold out until the end of the Saudi window. There’s no realistic season being written off here

I don't think it's as crazy as others suggest, there's no player in the market to replace Salah irrespective of the timing in the market. Bruno is an excellent example as there's no one like his profile in world football. However with an attacker it's even worse because you can reinforce the midfield as it's a plethora of positions whereas an attacker is isolated by way of contribution.

So how you spend the money will largely depend on how efficient the footballing director / scouts are at finding an adequate replacement or similar to Tottenham utilising replacements (plural) to offset the influence of the player being replaced in more than one way (Madison replaces the build up of Kane now they need to find someone to replace the goals as both elements cannot be identified in one talent).

It’s silly money and Salah I would argue is the crown jewel for Saudi football.

For £200m you can’t reject it.

Bloody liverpool, only they could get 200m for a 31 year old and rebuild their squad.

ffs.

Agreed that they're not contenders but they won't see it that way, yet if they let go of him they'd be conceding in September that the cap of their ambitions is reaching top 4, and many would recognise that they'd struggle for even that without Salah.

But it's inconceivable that they could replace him in January. He consistently gets them 50 goals + assists a season. Having an extra £150m would be very handy for them but if they're looking to replace him with someone of his calibre (or at least a reasonable potential of reaching it) then that figure could disappear in a single transfer, it wouldn't be enough for a rebuild.

They need a top quality holding midfielder, competition at RB, a quality CB and competition for Robertson, who has really dropped off in recent seasons.

There is no way they get all of that without a massive sale. This is the only player they have who would demand massive money and it might be the last window in which to get it.

They should seriously consider this

No amount of money will be good for anything to happen this summer, so they'll just be giving up their best player without replacement. They could miss out on CL football as a result so not really worth it imo.

A month ago yes. Today there's nothing to do with that money.

People act like the end of the window is end times. January is 4 months away and there are no massive games until then.

It might be a little harder to get players, but they can be laying the groundwork over the next year to bring in what they need and revamp their squad.

They will only pay an exaggerated amount because of the inconvenience. This is their time to argue for a 200+ million offer.

This is not just a business decision on an excel spreadsheet. If you're a big club and you sell one of the world's superstars on deadline day everyone in the football world - players, agents, other teams and their staff - will take notice. It shows a lack of ambition. It's a massive hit to the brand and you would only be able to remedy that if you could point to an absolutely insane new world record fee (200m+). If they want to get cash in they can sell him next year and point to the Kane fee, which would still be a significant sum.

Am I the only one thinking the opposite? I hope Salah stays at Pool. He starts to decline and actually could be a negative to Pool especially now he is also unsettled.

If he was sold for 200M, Liverpool will have the funds for proper rebuild and could be better for them.

Stevie G about to get Liverpool 250M in the span of a summer. Proper rinsed the Saudis.

We need to get Ole a job there.

The alternative is:

1. He stays this season, probably knocks in 25-30 goals.
2. They get £150m for him next summer and have an entire window to replace him.

Rather he goes now.

They should have bid earlier for him. Selling him for that amount makes sense, but it's way too late in the window. You have no time to replace him.

He's been there about 6 or 7 years and won the 4 main trophies once each.

It's hardly Ryan Giggs is it?
Winning 4 trophies out of 24/28 available is hardly nothing left to achieve.

Surely even the Saudi fools won't be offering the same money for a year older Salah, one year closer to the end of his deal.

Won every trophy though. Unless he's sticking around to win the Europa.

Liverpool will set the price. They apparently don’t want to sell.
