No different to having a Tory donor running the BBC after a decent £donation to the party. Govt mates, let them off the hook and turn a blind eye. Not sure the difference between the two media organisations is actually that big.
I did say “supposed”

You guys are ignoring the fact that Salah is a devote muslim who named his daughter Mecca.

Jeddah is only an hour drive from Mecca (the holiest site in Islam), so he can pretty much pray in Mecca every day after training if he wants, as well as making more money than he would ever get in Europe.

I cant see how Liverpool convince him to stay
That, and 3 millions a week..

Realistically though, Liverpool wouldn’t sell him now unless they’ve renounced all ambitions for this season. I can see them come to a gentleman’s agreement for him to leave next summer, while they spent the time setting up a marquee signing, Kvaratskhelia or Osimhen, for instance. At the moment, with 4 years left on his deal, can’t see Salah forcing the move unilaterally.

I don’t think anyone has forgotten, or didn’t know.

It’s more a case of thinking a 31 year old Balon D’Or level footballer will consider moving to a retirement home.

Well the current Balon D'or winner is there so it's not that big of a deal.

The Saudis are fecking everything up. They’re only going to go and fund another Plopp revolution. With the sales of Salah, Henderson and Fabinho, they’ll be looking at north if £150 million to spend on reinforcements.

The problem is though, who can they realistically bring in who can be an upgrade on Salah?

They missed out on Elanga.
Salah = pace merchant now that his pace is gone he goes to slowest league in the world.

They will also have to pay more as teams know that they both have money and will be desperate.
They will also have to rely on their ability to find someone potentially world class because they’re not going to buy someone already proven like Mbappe despite their delusions. I just don’t think they have the scouting in place for that now and there’s a huge amount of luck involved too.

They’ve done a terrible job of replacing Mane and Firminho and they won’t find a player on Salah’s level to come in this late in the window they’ll be fecked if he goes

Of course he won’t. But he’s that level of player. Could sign for any club on the planet.
But no club in the planet will pay what Liverpool wants right now at this moment in time other than Saudi clubs.
It’s not as if he has long left at the top, going by your post he would have stay at Liverpool this season and back himself at another club at 32 years old and that’s with an elite club saying yes, , we will pay a huge transfer fee and wages for a short term 32 year old.
Even a compromise of a year in Saudi Arabia and 2 years loaned out to Europe that would take away any economic burden of a future buying club would be best for him. I’m sure Saudi would agree to that Mbappe style

Yeah, maybe. Seems utterly mental for him to retire at 31 though.

I don't really want Salah leaving the EPL. The three biggest forwards in the EPL were Haaland, Kane and Salah. Kane is gone, Salah leaving weakens the league star quality.

A bit arrogant of some in here to expect an Arab footballer to prefer Merseyside to the Middle East. Especially when you factor religion and raising his kids.

Liverpool are a europa league level team at the moment. Why would any sane person turndown $100m per year to play against the 3rd best team in Bulgaria.

Also, Al-Ittihad are in the Club World Cup this December, hosted in Saudi Arabia. Big pressure. They need him now.

Next year the offer will be Mane money. This year it will be Benzema money.

Liverpool will expect him to forgo $100m to play one more season for them to challenge for top 4.

I cant see it.

I think he'll go at the end of the season. 2 years left on his contract and no way Liverpool can replace him with such short time in the window left.

Unless he's striking or other disruptive actions. I don't see that from him.

Kind of agree, oddly, though I'd love to see Pool blow the money on dross trying to replace him, Andy Carroll style.

Salah is still world class and must have another year or two at the top if he wanted it. He'll defo weaken the league as well as Pool by leaving.
Maybe to champs league this year made him think feck it and take the petrodollars.

It weakens Liverpool. That's all that matters

It's hard to know how highly footballers rate that tournament. They spout the right blandishments on twitter, but god knows how they really rank it in the great scheme of things.

I'll like to see United better a good Liverpool side not a pre Klopp version of Liverpool.
The way things are going, by the time we're good enough to spank the scousers Salah will be well into his retirement

It'd be excellent news if he's gone. The premier league would weaken but feck it.

Liverpool should take the money, Salah is getting older and any fee will only get lower. With Salah, Liverpool aren't guaranteed top 4 so Klopp should take the money and reinvest it. That will get a couple good quality player for the future.

I don’t actually think Liverpool need to directly replace him.

They have forward line options of Luis Diaz, Jota, Gakpo, Darwin which is better than many top 6 team’s forward lines.

He's a massive inspiration to the supporters and the players. Losing gobby Henderson and the king pin Salah in the same summer would be devastating for anyone. Look at that ball he put in against Chelsea the other week. He's not just a goalscorer.

Look at last year. If Salah can be arsed, they win. If he cant, they generally dont.

What an amazing assist if that's his last significant touch in a Liverpool shirt.
