kenny may not be right on much...but I think he's got this one correct.

An even rarer occasion, I wish Kenny was correct.

Yankees losing in the 8th 6-9 to the Angels. Pouring rain and the Angels start off the inning with a triple.

Fekk'in Yanks

To any and all doubters, especially the East Coast media:

feck you.

To the ALCS and beyond!

Let's Go Go Go White Sox!

for all red sox fans, you can look forward to 2091 - date of your next world series win.

god I hate the red sox...I'd cheer for Al Qaeda before I cheered for the Sawx

what a game Houston 7-6 Atlanta, went 'ill the 18th inning, finally a chris burke homer sent the Braves home, feel sorry for Tim Hudson, he was the player of the match before Chris hit that homer... glad i watched the whole match...
Roger Clemens's still young

I was too busy wathing the Cowboys open up a can of Whoop Ass on Philadelphia, but I did keep up with the Houston-Atlanta game. 'Stros were down 6-1 in the 8th and Berkman hit a grand slam, then in the 9th Ausmus homered to tie the game. Typical Atlanta choke in October. Cardinals will be favored, but I think Houston will make this a great series...if the pitching can keep the Cards bats in check.

Whhooo that Astros/Braves game was brill. The Skanks and Angels are just strating on Channel 5 over here. I notice that Gay-Rod and Sheffroids, who were awesome in the regular season and who i thought were just players who beat up on bad pitching and then disappeared in the post season are proving me waaaaaaaaayyyyy off. They have an awesome ONE Rbi between them in three games. Way to go you overpaid tossers.

joe torre had a smile on his face, it is a relief.... so many come back wins under his name - he deserves it :D Mariano is the man again
go yankees!

The Skanks just delayed the inevitable last night. With poor starting pitching, an overrated offence and Mariano apart no bullpen, they have very little chance of going much further.

To make matters worse...Yankees are getting really BAD calls by the umpires in the later innings.

No chance now....

If you're refering to the baseline call, it's not that at all.

They're just notorious for running out of the baseline. It's not the first time they've done that in the postseason to try to keep a throw from being made.

Dirty cheating sorry arsed Yankees.

Glad to see the back of them.

The Crosby-Sheffield collision was the defining moment. Gifted LAA two runs. The older, more mobile Bernie would have conceeded to Sheffield. Crosby doesn't possess that CF quality like Bernie did...the feel for the position and the awareness of the other fielders. Even today's Bernie would have been a better result as he's much slower now and wouldn't have been near Sheffield on that play. Of course, it makes sense for Crosby to be in the game to have a more mobile CF. But as the CF, you must be aware of your fellow OFs.

And is Mike Mussina one of the worst starters when it matters most? He seems to choke anytime a series is in the balance.

how fitting that Matsui finished the game off...

oh well

That's it for Matsui...New York is done with him after tonight.

I think that honour should go to A-Rod for hitting into that double play in the 9th.

Good call, as usual Bob. Rumors are that the Yankees just signed Matsui to a 3-year deal totaling $35 million. It's economics.

Good luck Da Bears. But usually the team that beats the Yanks wins the W.S.

BTW, and I'm sure that LABOB will disagree and have some sort of conspiracy theory, but I thought that on the super slow motion replay it looked like the pitch bounced as it got to the glove.

Stottlemeyer already quit as pitching coach.

Everyone is waiting to hear from Torre and to see if Steinbrenner is willing to eat the final $13 million on his contract and hire Piniella. My guess is Torre stays. George wouldn't want to take a chance on him going to another AL team and coming back to haunt him. Mattingly willl be back - possibley as bench coach. Girardi is getting a manager job with Tampa Bay or Florida. Reuben Sierra may become batting coach and there's talk about Ron Guidry becoming pitching coach.

They need a center fielder badly, especially to help out the pitchers. Bernie Williams is gone unless he comes back at substantially reduced pay and playing time. Crosby is gone too. There's talk about a trade for Torii Hunter, but I don't think that will happen.

Giambi and A-Rod are safe because of contracts, but A-Rod would be back anyway. Tino Martinez is probably gone and they'll be looking for an everyday first baseman - like Lyle Overbay. Wright and Pavano are back - contracts. Kevin Brown is gone. Decisions will have to made about the bullpen. My guess is that they'll add Ryan from the Orioles as a setup guy and future successor to Rivera. Small and Wang will be back, possibly as long relievers. Sturtz is having an MRI - he'll probably be back if Torre is back.

Jeter and Cano are safe, but Cano could conceivably be traded for a CF.

Posada needs a reduction in playing time, but they may squeeeze one more year out of him. I think they will keep Flaherty, but may replace him with somebody who can hit a little more.

Matsui will be back. He brings in a lot of revenue from Japan.

Under conspiracy theory logic, the ball you saw bouncing was not thrown by K. Escobar, but by a second pitcher on a grassy knoll.

At most Josh Paul trapped the ball against the ground. Regardless, he should have tagged out Pierzynski and failed to do so, making him and then Escobar the biggest goats of the game. LAAAA fans may feel disgruntled, but they've no right.

I can't imagine Steinbrenner wanting a strong personality like Piniella as manager. They would clash.

I've heard Johnny Damon's name being mentioned as a potential FA signing to fill the CF hole. However, it is believed Boston will do everything to retain him and even told him to go ahead and purchase a home (which he did last off-season).

Piniella is a Tampa guy and friendly with George, who regards him as being one of the best managers available.

Yanks aren't high on Damon. He has no arm and they think that he's lost a step in CF. He's also had some injury problems and they might not want to give him a 3-year deal. They would much rather have a Hunter or Adam Rowand. A more realistic possibility is Cameron from the Mets. I think that the Yanks would trade Scheffield, who the Mets like, for him, but I don't know if Scheff would go along with it.

Damon says no home-town discount for the Sox because they didn't make an offer before the season. I think that the Sox may have the same concerns that the Yankees do.

Everybody is kind of waiting to see what happens with GM Cashen, who the Phillies want. The Yankees say that they want him back, but he may be fed up with the interference from the Tampa front office guys.

The Yankee front office, coaches and manager situations have become like a Shakesperian play.

What about Epstein in NY? It seems Boston ownership and Epstein are far apart on money. He's free agent come 1 November.

Cashman is a good GM, but Steinbrenner won't fire himself.

seems like it's the white sox taking on the astros....
will the angels and the cardies come back?
btw, guerrero's defensive plays sucked
