Mkhitaryan Injury? | Hopefully Nothing Serious

I'm hoping him and Shaw were called back to get fighting fit for the derby.

There's nothing wrong with international friendlies. Obviously players need to play together and the manager test out tactics or formations leading up to the proper matches.

However, having an international break 2 weeks into the season has always been absolutely stupid. I don't mind the others, but this one needs to be fecked right off.

I wouldnt miss international Football at all. Wc and ec normally are quite dull and its more for the masses then for proper football fans.

Jose mind games, he starts scores and sets baldy crying out of old trafford.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but he is suffering from a quadriceps contusion of first degree which usually takes 2-3 weeks to totally heal. I don't think he will be available for the game.

Cant see him starting after an injury against City. Shit news as it wouldve been a huge help for us in this game as I dont think Mata is a good option for it at all, while Lingard and Rashford are nowhere near his level and readiness to play out wide. Lingard is the best option for the right wing because of his defensive work I guess but Mkhitaryan would've been perfect.

Anyone know what's going on with this? Any chance he'll get minutes against Liverpool?

Edit - I usually check things like this on physioroom but for some reason that website doesnt seem to be working properly for me. Not the PL injuries section anyway.

Wasn't called up for international duty. Still injured.

fecking hell, thought this was another injury.

I dont think he is still injured, he is working on his fitness.

Meh, pretty much the same thing. He's still recovering and will almost definitely be out for Monday.

Didn't we request he not be called up? (I can't imagine they'd listen to us considering he's their star player)

Or was he just injured?

Yep. It's on the Football Federation of Armenia's website:
Manchester United FC asked FFA permission for Mkhitaryan`s withdrawal from training camp

As FFA officical site was informed by FFA Competitions organizing committee, Armenian natiomal team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan will probably miss upcoming matches of Armenian national team against Romania and Poland. Football Federation of Armenia received an official letter from Manchester United FC on the permission of Henrikh Mkhitaryan`s withdrawal from upcoming training camp and official matches. The head of Manchester United FC Medicine and Science medical, Dr. Steve McNally wrote:

"Henrikh is still undergoing late stage rehabilitation from the left thigh muscle injury that he sustained earlier this month whilst playing for Manchester United. Although his progress has been good over the past week, he is participating in limited aspects of team training and is not yet able to train fully without restrictions or play competitively. In view of that I would be grateful if he could be allowed to withdraw from the National Team for the forthcoming training camp and FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in order to remain in Manchester to complete his rehabilitation."

Oh man read the thread title thinking this was a fresh injury.

Hopefully he's not too far from 100% fitness even if he has to miss the Liverpool game

Whats up with skysports bullshit? They have an article titled "where is mkhitaryan?"

It's by Adam Bate and all it talks about is how inconsistent he is. The man has been injured for a few weeks now and they're asking where he is, despite updates being given regularly on him by the club.

That's not what I took from it, it alluded to him taking a while to get started simply, but also that he performed above and beyond for them and exceeded managers expectations, it's a nothing article though. However, I didn't realise he mainly played on the right wing for Dortmund last season? I thought he was more central? Does anyone who watches them more know?

Yeah but they're likening his slow start to life to Dortmund when the two cases are nothing alike. He's been injured here whereas he he wasn't enjoying his time under Klopp/took a while to actually get started on the field when fit.

Last year I think he played on the right wing for Dortmund. Cutting in more centrally at will, but still deployed on the right.

Yea I never pay much attention to SS, I just scan the article for the points I find interesting, but that's good to know about his positioning as RW is one of our weakest positions IMO

I really think this guy will be a huge key for us to have a 'successful' season. Still dreaming of an in form:
----------------------Pogba---------------
Mkhitayryan------------------------Martial/Rashford
----------------Ibra/Rashford--------------

He played mostly on the right the way mourinho has his wide players playing. Cutting in a lot and drifting into central positions. Main thing is he starts out wide though and thats why I'm confident he'll be class here once he gets over the injury.

he played predominantly on the right as an inside forward

As others have said, if this season is going to be successful I think a lot hangs on this lad. Based on what I've seen and his "level" in the footballing world he seems to be a lot better than anything else on that right wing.

Hoping he destroys the Scousers tomorrow
