Mkhitaryan Injury? | Hopefully Nothing Serious

Ah feck off. Been dying to see him cement a starting spot in our side. And I think it's a huge loss given City will collectively press under Pep. I'd expect him to come out of those tight spaces better than all the other attacking options other than Martial. Rooney and Mata could struggle more.

7-10 days isn't too bad. He would've started on the bench anyway, so it's enough to recover for a 20 minute cameo

Getting injured from the amount of football he's seen so far this season is a bit like getting someone pregnant after losing your virginity. Terribly unlucky.

I'm not sure of that. His cameos against Southampton and Hull probably earned him a start.

He'll be on the bench but maybe better not to use him so he can heal properly. If the result isn't right we can always use Marcus to cause havoc. :)

Armenian FA say he's out for 7-10 days, won't play against Denmark.

Injured in a friendly ffs.

That's good news, don't want him on the field having more chance to get a serious injury. Hope he is good to go for the derby, i'd have him starting.

It'd be a shame if he missed the derby. We've got competent replacements in Lingard and Rashford, just please not Mata.

I was thinking the same. Well, as well as Zlatan struggling with Citys pressing, too, although not as bad hopefully. I think Rashford could cope well, though. His control of the ball in tight spaces or with a defender on him is really good and pretty underrated in my opinion.

Like, against Hull, when Pogba fizzed a ball to him on the edge of Hulls box with a defender right on his back, he just took the ball with his excellent technique, managed to turn and dribble his way into the box causing a bit of panic. I can't see any of our other attackers bar Martial and maybe Mkhi doing that, as simple as it sounds. If it were anyone else bar those three, I'd have expected them to either lose the ball with a heavy touch or being muscled out of the way, or for them to have passed back/to the wing, which, don't get me wrong, isn't terrible, but what Rashford did was really refreshing to see.

Absolutely fecking livid. Useless shitty international breaks

Copying from reddit, obviously don't know if they're right:

Thanks for the e-medal and i wanna say that, the article doesn't say that he's out for 7-10 days, it says "Այսպիսի վնասվածքների ապաքինման համար սովորաբար պահանջվում է մեկ շաբաթից մինչև 10 օր"

Which translates to

"This type of injury usually takes a week to 10 days to recover from"

Hopefully it is just a case of Mourinho giving him a ring and advicing him to be 'injured' for the next match.

I actually loathe international friendlies. At least give the clubs an option to opt players out of them. Absolutely pointless. Who watches them anyway?

So i guess this evens up to them without Aguero? Not saying they are on the same level, but Mkhti makes our team a better and more fluent unit

Glad he's not playing for them tomorrow and it doesn't look anything overly serious.

Hopefully he'll be fit for next Saturday.

If it's 7-10 days from the injury then he should be okay.

Depends on what kind of training he can do in the meantime. Can he already do light jogging now or is he completely sidelined? If he's back in full training on Wednesday then he should be ok, if not then he's major doubt.

Bruising of the muscle isn't a problem. I have had those and it usually takes 3 days to work through if you train daily. He just needs to do very light training to get the muscle working and recuperating. Also needs heat treatment on the spot to get the blood flowing.

He will be ready for the derby. Whether Mourinho chooses to start him is another matter.

Hasnt Butland been out for 8 months getting injured in a friendly?

Chill out, could be worse, these things happen.

He sustained the injury on Tuesday so surely that means it will be Friday where he can't play not Saturday.

Surely a bruising shouldn't be THAT bad and he can still train very lightly.

Disappointing, at least it's not too long. I'm not convinced he would have started the Derby anyway, but I would have liked to have seen that. I'd rather not risk him though.

It's a shame that he's injured and it's come at a poor time given the derby, but as far as I know he's the only one out for us so far which given our injury record isn't too bad. Mkhy is a great player who I'd have liked to see start, but I have a lot of faith in Rashford,Martial, Ibra and the rest of our attackers to stick a few past City.

Fecking international friendlies. I hate them!

I understand the qualifiers are a necessary evil to have the fun summer tournaments but why do we need the fecking friendlies? Everyone would be in the same boat so it's not like a lack of team cohesion would benefit some over others. Cut out the friendlies and we can have less international breaks.

Bailly was out for the whole week then the physio helped him get up to shape for the day after so we should be fine

He'll be fit to play next Saturday, but would not have participated in much training, if any. Depends on Mourinho, I feel he could play if needed.

This. The clubs pay the players' wages, so it's not right that they are always shafted by silly friendlies.

I'm just happy it's nothing serious. But it still brings my piss to a boil when our players get injured during international friendlies.

Considering it's a knock I'm sure he will be ok. If it was muscular I would be more worried. Probably just a bit bruised so they've sent him back.

It makes Jose's job much easier - keep the same XI end of.

Exhibit #5736304968 on why international friendlies are absolutely fecking pointless.

We're lucky it wasn't something more serious.
