Think its pretty intentional with a 15 year old whose still at school scoring. Still. Lesst Huddlestones scored at 37.

Been looking at the ages of both teams and, with the obvious exception of player-coach Huddlestone, almost all the outfielders seem pretty even average of 17, 18, 19, 20 year olds for both teams. I wouldn't say there was a big difference at all in the average age of them (bar Huddlestone, of course).

Obviously, if you want to twist it from a City angle, then by all means solely focus on the ages of scorers Huddlestone and Mfuni.

Having 37 year old legs in this game can be seen as a significant disadvantage as well.

I decided to look at this City-side who played against us yesterday - and granted it was a young side - but it wasn't a YOUNG side.

Grant 18, Galvez 19, Simpson-Pusey (nice name) 18, Susoho 19, Henderson-Hall 17, Breckin 20, Wright 18, Taylor 19, Ndala 17, O'Reilly 18, Hamilton 20

Compare that to us: Mee 21, Ogunneye 18, Aljofree 18, Kamwala 18, Murray 19, Collyer 20, Huddlestone 37, Mather 19, Scanlon 17, Williams 18, Wheatley 18

So if you remove Tom Huddlestone - the average age of the other 9 outfield players that started yesterday, was practically the same as for both sides

We do have a relatively young XI as well with 4 U18s in there (could have been 5 if Harrison plays as usual and we can easly start Jackson or Nolan/Amass to make it 6 without weakening the side).

Honestly people really overstated these age difference in general at U21s level. Most decent second-year U18s can play U21s football easily, it's just a matter of management of game times and development for everyone. We can technically field a competitive XI of 8-9 U18s at U21s level if we want, but we do have older players (that are not quite ready for loan moves, or being kept for 1st team like Kwambala) to manage development as well.
 
Huddlestone apart we were slightly older but not massively. Game panned out as i expected and in the second half it was one way traffic. We barely had a shot. Bit of quality from an ex England international was the game changer. Game didnt feel like it had the same quality on show as in previous years but given the emphasis on playing younger players i guess it wont have. As already stated the academies are being run for slightly different purposes and the level of our players is not quite at the same level across the groups. You only have to see the loans we can get for our players to see that. Whether its a wise move for City to promore so quickly only time will tell.
 
The youth sub-forum/threads should be for balanced discussions; Bigsid NEVER has anything positive to say about our youth, he's always having a dig so shouldn't be allowed on here.

I beleieve my view is balanced. There is a lot to be positive about and the levels have improved a lot over the last couple of years. Its obvious to anyone we had a 5 year spell where we had dropped down (a view held by many other posters) and though i dont believe we are quite on the same page as Chelsea and City we have certainly closed the gap somewhat. The Glazers dont invest at the same amounts as those clubs so we arent on a level playing field. My point on loans and fees received is factual. Not anti United. We need to get better on both those fronts so we can reinvest into the infrastructure of the club. A point Ineos will drive home too The likes of Mainoo look on par with anything produced by anyone in Europe over the last few years which is great to see.

There is but you are never positive about it, it's tedious when people are trying to take a modicum of joy from a result and all you do is pipe up with how it was actually our senior team playing and that's the only reason we beat City U9s. It's exhausting. You may have inside knowledge, but when all you have to say is that we're shit at every level, is it any wonder people are fed up with it?

Point taken. Maybe im a natural cynic. Will be more mindful going forward and hope our new ownership model gives greater investment.

I don't recall anyone asking for him to be banned, but if he's making the forum an environment that people don't want to spend time in then the mods are going to ban him.

For me @Gungerz provides as much information as anyone could need outside of their own eyes and ears. Information that you can believe isn't tainted with bias.

I appreciate that but I don't have access to any inside information like Bigsid (or Beaucoup who was pretty much cut from the same cloth).

While they may both be jarringly negative, I can appreciate the useful insights they give every now and then, that we wouldn't be privy to otherwise.

To be very fair, no one even drove Beaucoup away, he lost his rag over a post about Shea Lacey being injured and then quit the Caf. I'm pretty sure Lacey himself actually replied to the original injury post as well confirming its authenticity.
 
With Shaw likely our for the season and Malacia in the shadow realm due to injuries - Are Sam Murray and Harry Amass our only youth LB options?

Can't revamp that medical department quickly enough. I imagine the only reason we let both Reguilon and Alvaro leave was because Shaw was back and AWB and Malacia were close to it. The latter two both end up getting injured before they can even kick a ball again and now Shaw is crocked as well.

Seems a bit too soon for the young lads though. Might make the bench, but I'd imagine the manager will turn to Amrabat at LB before these kids.

Yes - because Millwall and Swindon are similar clubs. At first-team level there are only roughly 50 teams between them. '
As for the Chelsea-game - they should have won that game by 3-4 goals - but lost on penalties. United hardly created a single chance over 90 minutes. The derby-factor also probably worked against Chelsea.

If you are going to try to mock me - at least use facts to prove me wrong or humour to ridicule me.

Hi guys, I'm new to this thread and I wanted to know if anyone knew the names of former lads that spent time at Ashton-on-Mersey school on the MANUSS programme. My brother was a teacher there and he would like to remember the names of some of the notable lads he taught, he was there from 2013 - 2019. The names I've gathered are: Angel Gomes, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Axel Tuanzebe, Tosin Kehinde, James Garner, Brandon Williams, Dion McGhee, Anthony Elanga, Teden Mengi, Jake Barrett, Will Fish, Dylan Levitt, Shola Shoretire... Does anyone know anymore names? I'm hoping someone in this thread is/was in-the-know and can let me know ASAP either on this thread or on private message?
