Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

Interesting video I stumbled across. Features Shoretire, Gore, Ogunneye, both Fletchers & Kamason. True Grant is also there in a United kit, despite being at City.

I like the fact that they play these "streets" type of games too, but at the same time I'm sure the clubs would not be happy if someone got injured at them.

England U17 vs Portugal U17 live here, the stream starts at 17:45 BST.

France U18 vs England U18 live here. Harrison in goal, not sure if McAllister started. He might be the number 4 in midfield.

That's Finlay Herrick in goal. Harrison is not listed on the team sheet so must've picked up an injury against Sunderland.

Couple of good runs from Lacey, but twice he's been eased off the ball comfortably.

From the latest 'Academy Weekly' article:

"As an education team, we are delighted with the achievements of our players over the last year. A significant percentage of the final outcomes were outstanding," the Academy's Education Manager Ian Smithson said.

Like many young people nationwide, our Academy boys recently received results for GCSEs, A-Levels, Btec Diplomas and more, with 80 per cent of our young Reds meeting or exceeding their target grade.

Eight players achieved the Btec Extended Diploma in Marketing (equivalent to 3 ‘A’ levels), with three Reds achieving a full distinction, while two others gained a Btec Extended Diploma in Sport.

In addition to this, ten of our second-year scholars successfully completed the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP), eight at Distinction level, while three of their peers completed the UEFA ‘C’ Coaching certificate.

In GCSEs, nine of our scholars achieved at least one grade seven, six students accumulated a total of 18 grade eights and two Academy players were awarded with grand nines each, the highest a student can achieve.

"The results are a testament to the way that the players have dedicated themselves to their work both on and off the pitch and the excellent support that they have received from our staff,” Smithson said.

Trevan Sanusi, the Birmingham winger we were linked with, has signed for Newcastle. Days after Leo Shahar from Wolves arrived there, both youth internationals. Hate to say it but they're definitely doing good moves in terms of signings young talents they were lacking in recent years.

The hard bit is getting them intergraded into the first team...

Absolutely. But they’ve really struggled to produce their own players so better youth scouting plus the right signings and we might see that change in the future.

Lacey and Fitzgerald both played the last 35 minutes or so in England U17s’ 1-1 draw against Morocco U17s yesterday.

They’ll face Spain on Tuesday.

Watching Isak Hansen Aarøen and the rest of Norway U21 playing Latvia - Latvia somehow managed 0-0 against Italy - but anything but a convincing win for Norway will be a huge upset.

Sjøeng - Edh, Opsahl, Hjelde, Møller Wolfe - Zafeiris, Mannsverk, Arnstad - Bobb, Hansen-Aarøen, Schjelderup

All the 6 midfieldes and attackers have the potential to break into the first-team

2-0 for Norway at half-time. Arnstad (Anderlecht) with both goals - the first a freekick, the second a header from a chipped cross from Hansen Aarøen - keeper should have saved it but who cares. Hansen Aarøen had a good first half, like many others .

3-0 England.

Lacey involved in all three goals. In the second one he cut inside and finished a good run with a precise pass to the left, where the goal came from.

He intercepted a long ball which led to the third goal. Sure he’s lost the ball a few times and he could be more active off the ball, but he makes so many decisive things in most matches.

5-0 Norway with 15 minutes left to play - another amazing performance. Must be the most talented Norwegian youth-side I have ever seen. Arnstad with hat-trick (as a central midfielder) - the third a penalty after he was brought down. Then he hit the post before Oscar Bobb (City) scored 4-0. Andreas Schjelderup added the fifth. Hansen Aarøen had a good game - but not among the best today.

Gulliksen and Mvuka with 2 late goals - and Norway win 7-0 for the second game in a row. Could have been 15

4-1 England. Lacey scores again with his right foot. Two goals and two assists in two starts for the U17s. Not a bad international break.

James Scanlon has been called up to Gibraltar's U21s for their upcoming European Championship qualifier against Georgia.

They also have a set of U15 fixtures coming up so there could possibly a first involvement for his younger brother Luca, who's a club U14.

Looks like United have signed 20-year-old goalkeeper Kie Plumley, as per the Premier League squad lists that have just been released.

He comes as a free agent, previously at Oxford United.

Replacement for Bishop and Carney.

U21s have a friendly in Scotland tomorrow against Rangers, as there's no PL2 game this weekend. Harry Amass is part of the squad.

That's good to hear. With the lack of quality LBs around I wouldn't be surprised if he spent large chunks of the season up there. Up to him of course to deliver. Added bonus with more Mantato in the U18s.

I think the squad will largely be those who'll be eligible to play against Bayern on Wednesday.
