Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

Slow news? Any new U18 players coming in? Heard Ryan will be a new assistant coach to Wood, but United hasn't confirmed it. Any friendly games coming up? United isn't especially good at giving us fans info. Anyway, it will be an interesting season. Can't wait!

U18s play hearts tomorrow, 23s play Hibs on Saturday

3-0 win for the under 18s today vs Hearts, Jurado captained and Ethan Williams and Finley McAllister with a goal each

United's U23 beat Hibs 4-1 this morning in Edinburgh.

No definitive information as yet...but going off of the photos and short videos posted on the Hibs Twitter feed it looks as though the team was:

1. Mastny 2. Wellens 3. Fernandez 4. Pye 5. Hardley 6. Svidersky 7. Forson. 8. McCann 9. McNeill 10. Iqbal 11 Hoogewerf.

Mee and Hansen were also two confirmed changes.

Scorers were Forson, McNeill pen, McCann and Hoogewerf.

U18s tournament this week, Utd take on Chelsea, Spurs and Wolves.
Quite a few of the squad isolating so expect all the top U16s to be involved.

Hmm.
The U23's have a friendly on Tuesday against Stalybridge. And the first team - that's probably still mostly full of U23's - play on Wednesday.

I was assuming most of last seasons U18's would play the U23 friendly, while the key U23's feature in the first team squad again v Brentford. If a lot of the U18's are isolating, and there's a youth tournament on, I wonder who's going to be available for the U23's on Tuesday?

Always going to happen, once we stopped being able to bring them in from Europe at 16.

Definitely you could literally scrap academy and buy in team at 15 to 16. Players bought in will always get more exposure these days as there must be pressure to back investment by clubs.

A lot of the time the kids that come in aren't as good as the ones already at the club, unless they're on trial, the coaches first glimpse of them is after they've signed.

How many players are a Championship allowed to have on loan ? With the situation Derby are in - we should let them loan as many players as possible, almost guaranteed game-time - especially when the manager is sending his own players to the hospital for 8-10 weeks.

Interesting. What's his deal - why is his signing likely to piss off many people? He must be rated?

He is one who has been improving steadily, hope he continues his development well.

He deserves a good loan. Never thought he had the talent but he seems to consistently keep improving and impressing.

He was really poor in the beginning here, but improved a lot in his last season.
