Michael Laudrup

He's been sacked to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club apparently. What does that mean? Did he have his eye elsewhere?

It's likely that he's probably just not got on with the chairman and it just wasn't going to work for whatever reason. It would just seem a bit bizarre for them to sack him on results alone when you consider what he did last season.

Despite them doing pretty well during his tenure, there always seemed to be report of something going on between him and the chairman.

Hope he remains in England anyway, the Premier League could do with more managers like him. Charismatic and play progressive football.

I imagine this is more to do with off the field problems, he seemed to have a pretty fraught relationship with the chairman at the best of times. They've not been great this season, but in fairness to him the Europa league pretty much always has that effect on the smaller clubs.

Interesting to see who they replace him with though.

Never really understood the fascination with him to be honest. Pretty much a step down from the previous two managers.

Any man that sees Shelvey as the long term answer in a premiership midfield has to have eyebrows raised. Injuries or no injuries.

Assuming their new man will have to fit their footballing philosophy it will be interesting to see who they go for.

They have been in freefall since last March.

Hence the term pretty well during his tenure. Overall he hasn't done a bad job. Their downfall this season is as a result of Michu being injured I think and last season was just a team being safe and having nothing to play for.

Swansea have been really poor in 2013. He's obviously a good enough manager but I don't rate him as highly as some.

Derby coming up this weekend too. Strange timing.

Mental. This is what happens when you get put in the Europa League with a small squad (see Newcastle last season). Absurd decision. I thought they were meant to be good football people. Bizarre.

Not sure if this is true but sounds like they're putting Garry Monk in charge until the end of the season. :wenger:

Mental.

They must have looked at the table and got a little worried. It's so tight at the bottom with just one game separating even 11th place from the relegation zone.

Most journalists when asked about Swansea during the summer said that they didn't see him as manager in a year's time. I think this probably goes quite a bit deeper than just results.

They will. Jenkins is the master of appointing managers.
Depends. This isn't a good time of year to be picking a manager. Do you bring someone in for the future, and possibly get relegated, or do you go for a safe pair of hands and either stick with them if they keep you up, or reassess in the summer?

There were reports earlier this week of the Everton Assistant being offered the job at the end of the season as Laudrup wanted to leave. Apparantly he was offered it before but felt he wasn't ready.

Maybe he was giving it large in the boardroom because he's big Micky Laups. Demanding more money for big players or he'd go elsewhere and Jenkins just said yeah feck you Mick. We don't need you.

They'd also been playing pretty shit, much more direct than previous years with Shelvey at the head of everything

Pretty odd they've already given the job to Garry Monk. As far as I can tell he has absolutely no coaching experience whatsoever, i'm sure he's respected there but its a hell of a risk to throw someone with no experience in to a relegation battle, certainly didn't work well with Shearer. The good will he has there as a player won't save him if they lose to Cardiff next game.

Would he make a good #2 for United? At least to get us playing a more progressive style of football which goes beyond "we got the to the byline 8 or 9 times".

Highly doubt he'd be interested in an assistant role.
Pellegrini is now the tenth longest serving manager in the Premier League.
It's madness

I think he had no intention of staying next season so it was really just a case of when he left.
