Michael jackson Memorial

It's not based at their lose though was it? I mean, laughing about Jermaine Jackson's hair being painted on could and would have happened last year, the year from now, even when he dies. The nature of life.

I thought for example, Brooke Shields constant referral to heart conditions was slightly uninspired, considering the circumstances.

I suppose it's easy to joke about things like that on something like this though, it'd never happen if you were actually there.

TBH, I don't really like Brooke Shields for some reason.

Aye but it wasn't joking necessarily on the situation was it? It was laughing at him having painted on hair. If he walked through the trafford centre happy as shit I mean, I'd still laugh at painted on hair. If thats being bad, then I'm bad. He's Bad, don't you know I'm bad.

Okay

Polls are saying quite the opposite. 65% of people think the coverage is completely overblown.

And paying off family's to sleep with boys, as well as showing porno magazines to Corey Feldman when he was 11 is exactly what pedophiles do.

Theres a difference with thinking the coverage is too much to not giving a shit.

And the second point has been discussed to death on the other thread so i'll not go into detail but my opinion differs to yours.

The vast majority of us don't give a shit, think he deserved a couple hours of news coverage and are a bit creeped out by all this attention to a clearly fecked up and probably criminal individual.

I can't agree with that all. Whether you like it or not, the man was a huge icon. A true icon, nothing more, nothing less. So it was only expected his death would get a lot more than a couple hours of news coverage. At least he contributed to the world, unlike Princess Di. True, the Jacko coverage may have been a bit over the top - but as I said, he was an icon and one of the most people of the last century. Not sure we'll see a a bigger, more famous celeb/popstar in our lifetime.

She clearly milked it.

As for Jermaine. As I said - Leave the man alone!

I thought Jermaine singing Smile was really good (you should listen to MJs version of the song too)

I agree. I couldn't care less for Shields but I love Jermaine, leave him alone (excuse the pun!) ;)

Even his hair?

He seems a nice chap, though. Not that any of us know. So, I guess it doesn't matter what I think. I like his face - he's got a permanent smile.

Leave Jermaine alone is the consensus but, painted on hair, hehe.

Wonder what he thinks when hes looking at the man in the mirror. Hehe.

That is the greatest piece of pop entertainment ever IMO...nothing tops the smooth criminal video

What did everyone make of Ushers little break down?

I saw his daughter talking, which was a shame:(

Didn't really see much else of it as it was quite busy at work once it started (typical), so I'll maybe try and watch it on Youtube or find a repeat of it somewhere.

Mockney is right though. Smooth Criminal is perfection.

fecking hell. Am I in invisible mode again?

They should've put me in charge of the memorial. I'd have played this on a big screen...

...memorial over.

Man, I wish I'd gotten up on those steps a minute after Martin Luther King and gone, "Yeah. What he said."

I'd be a fecking legend right about now.

Heart wrenching stuff

I watched bits and pieces and that was tough. I have a daughter about her age and it makes all very real to me. I couldn't really care less about the death of Mike Jackson. He was a great performer but had since faded and had become over shadowed by the hype that was Michael Jackson. He clearly did some very inappropriate things to say the least, by his admission, and probably was guilty of much worse.

That was intense. Still hard to believe he's gone.

Thought Sharpton's speech was incredible. Especially the bit he addressed to Jackson's three kids. "There was nothing strange about your daddy; what was strange, was how they treated him".

i thought that was inspired - and i'm so pleased someone actually said it just a shame no-one said it while he was alive.

That was some speech from Al Sharpton ... His delivery was spectacular. Liked Berry Gordy's as well, but seriously, Sharpton was something else.

Quite a touching memorial, even if it was a tad over the top. But hey, this guy was without a doubt the numero uno entertainer of our times. No one will probably ever reach the levels of stardom that he managed, and I honestly believe that. Regarding the allegations made against him, we may never know the truth behind it all, but it was never proven in a court of law. My gut tells me that it was just people using his deteriorating state of mind to make a quick buck and it amazes me how sure people are after watching one documentary about his guilt.

RIP MJ. Great humanitarian, Great entertainer.

I thought the whole thing was a circus. The guy couldn't even get a peaceful funeral. I had to turn it off after 10 minutes or so as it was horrible.

All these Celebrity "friends" that loved him so much. Where were they when he was staying with the Arabs because he had no money? All the press talking him up so much when they spent the last 20 years of his life calling him a freak or a peado.

I'm not a fan of his, I liked some of his earlier stuff and all the speculation about his love of children never sat well with me but I can't abide all the hype over a memorial service. He's still being exploited and milked after his death and I find the whole thing a sad reflection on our celebrity obsessed society.

Totally agree.

Where was Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Usher and Lionel Ritchie when he was facing child abuse allegations?

Expect a big uplift in their record sales this week.

Michael Jackson was the last true, great international superstar and icon that the world will see.
