Michael Jackson Appreciation thread (positive comment only)

Me and my brother used to have a tape collection of MJ's stuff.

We always used to put it on in the car (weekends at my Dad's house). I have an amazing collection of very vivid memories and emotions accompanied to listening to MJ.

He was the first person i told last night when i found out (on here). He's Downs Syndrome, and a bit older than me, but he was quite taken aback by it. Poor fella. We used to listen to a lot of Queen as well, imitating Freddie Mercury - that was another sad day when he died.

A King who just wanted to entertain the world, someone truly special. There won't be anyone like him ever again.

The only non Michael Jackson album not in the top ten is no ten Black Eyed Peas The End

on Itunes

Not one of his most famous songs, but an example of just how talented he was musically (he composed it himself, as he did most of his songs). One of the saddest things about his death is that millions of his fans have now been denied the chance to see him perform live for one last time - just 3 weeks before his tour was due to start. At least his music will always live on.

Michael Jackson - Ghosts - The Full Movie

I can't see any artist nowadays doing it quite like MJ did in msuic videos and such.

My pick:
- Man in The Mirror
- Rock With You
- Smooth Criminal
- Human Nature

Just from the top of my head. Ben and Gone Too Soon was great ballads too.

Wasnt a massive fan of him but had tickets to see him in London, got them off a friend who couldn't go. I was really looking forward to it, a proper shame.

That would have been great if Britney hadn't shown up  She isn't anywhere near his level.

Jacko was an amazing entertainer, and deserved the King of Pop title in his day. Not really my type of music but he leaves a huge void no one else could ever dream of filling, although in reality he hasn't been as influential for years.

All true, at the height of his powers he reached levels that no one had ever reached before or since, but he hasnt been very influential in years. However, his importance has been highlighted by his death, I can think of five things that affected the local primetime schedule that were unscheduled since 2000, Indecision 2000, 9/11, The start of Afghanistan War, The start of the Iraq War, and this. Shocking really when you look at the other events.

Totally agree with you rednev. Those words at the end of that song are so poignant now. Its the first time I almost let out some emotion about his death. And the scene where the angel embraces him when he says "you are always in my heart" is just too freaky. :(

RIP Michael, the last of our musical geniuses.

Another great Jackson song (Doesn't kick in 'til 4.30).

Such tragic news of Michael Jackson passing, i still cant believe he has passed away.

Michael was the man, the magic, the innovator and without doubt the greatest entertainer of all time.

R.I.P

I have many memories whilst in my teen years in the 80's that include his hits.

I remember the pepsi add when his hair set on fire.

So many great songs over the years, but he died for me in the 90's.

Amazing how some of his songs still have the 'tingle' affect, even though Iv hear them loads.

Just turned the UK Top 40 on, they're almost up to the top 10 and I think they said Jacko has had 6 songs so far in the chart, Man in the Mirror was just on at #11, which is probably it for the singles. They'll be annoucing the Album chart before the top 3 singles, hes probably #1 in that.

I have spent countless hours since his death listening to his music and it's absolutely fantastic stuff. I'm just sad that it was not until his death I really 'discovered' him.

I was not sad when I heard about him dying. It didn't really affect me at all but it saddens me to think of his life and what problems he must have had for years and years. I think he was a very sick man mentally and he never had the right people around him to get the right kind of advice and help.

I won't speculate to much about his personal life and his demons but rather celebrate him as the wonderful artist and entertainer he was. I hope he may rest in peace.

Agreed Caveman, you don't know what you're going to miss until its gone. Like Elvis, but probably to a greater extent, MJ will be remembered and celebrated for a LONG time. No doubt Jordy Chandler, on his death bed or something, will finally tell exactly what happened - one way or the other.

I was/am a huge fan of MJ, the greatest entertainer ever..he is the king.
