Micah Richards - The Pundit

He's probably a nice person in real life (although I could imagine him being that annoying loud friend), but as a pundit he's truly terrible. He has his schtick of laughing as loud as possible as soon as he's uncomfortable or has made a joke he finds funny, and his level of analysis is piss poor.

I was listening to his interview of Raheem Sterling on the BBC daily podcast earlier this morning - he's talking to a player I think is quite articulate, and the level of his questioning was awful, it was like he hadn't prepared the interview at all. He started by pointing out that City "don't score as many goals as I'm used to seeing so what is it, have you become more defensive minded or what?" And the subsequent questions were basically asking Sterling about his haircut, John Stones's dance moves and whether he should put Sterling as his captain in his fantasy football team.

I don't think you need pristine qualifications to be a decent pundit, but even by those pretty low standards, he's utterly incompetent at his job.

Does anyone seriously listen to anything Micah Richards says? He’s the worst pundit out there, talks utter bollocks, that chat about Pogba is actually bizarre, he’s just saying those things to get under the skin of Keane and Neville, unfortunately he’s everywhere at the minute, I’d rather listen to that feckwit Keown.

Micha is surprisingly a good pundit in my eyes. He’s quite articulate in the points he makes. In the city game analysis I think he schooled Gary a bit when Gary was writing city off and Micah re-affirmed that it’s still early days in the season to which Gary changed his tone slightly.

Gary is definitely the best in terms of analysis and watchability but I think Micah is good. Keown is the worst, boring caveman.

He doesn't really say anything, though luckily for him he's not alone.

Edit. And he's annoying.

Just watched this. He makes no sense at all, and goes off with his boisterous laugh at the end because he knows he's been showed up for that weird "analysis". Eurgh.

He does that a LOT. Said it in the OP.

It's as if they've got a singer or actor to step in and do some guest punditry. He'll just start talking nonsense like when a 9 year old tries talking about football, realise that the others are starting to look confused, then he'll say something like "I don't know what you think, Gary?" and then start laughing ridiculously so nobody asks him anything else.

Baffled how people haven't figured him out yet.

90% of pundits don’t have anything to say. At least he’s fun

He seems a nice guy in fairness, he's got a good positive vibe which sky definitely needs. Shame he seems quite limited as an actual pundit though.

He definitely works well with Keano.

He could be a new Kammy on SKY if you ask me. Offers nothing much but a bit of laughter, he is quite funny, I do like the way he trolls Roy.

I really dont think he does.

I agree he’s a poor pundit but he brings a bit of balance with his upbeat mood to Keano's sour face demeanour.

Plus Keano is largely negative about everything, worst you could do at sky would be to sit Keane next to Sourness. Jeez that’s depression right there.

He is fun to me tbh, I don't watch any of these shows for tactical analysis, Youtube has better ones. I just watch them to see how much these guys are gonna fail with their predictions and judgements, the banter between them and especially the stories and anecdotes.

I know he is new to the job but he is a bit of a pain in the backside. He is like ALex Jones (who i like a lot) i.e. laugh & smile when it's not needed. Sorry for being grumpy :\

When he is with those other guys on the American broadcast, it cringes the feck out of me. Ballbag and his lady side kick (sorry can't recall her name) that feels just so weird when they show them, the way he stares at her, or maybe its just me. Then there Martinez the coach, Carragher, Alex Scott (she is pretty decent of the bunch). But they all just make my skin crawl with how they laugh and discuss things. So weird. Sometimes it is funny, most times it feels just awkward.

He is fine. He gives his opinion, doesn't take it too seriously and brings a bit of laughter into the room. Not every pundit has to provide deep statistical analysis of the game. I wouldn't say he is my favourite pundit of all time but I certainly don't mind him at all.

A nice lad who's really clueless, talks nonsense 90% of the time and is utterly blinkered when it comes to City.

His laugh is infectious, he has grown on me. I think pundits all talk waffle so want entertainment from them. Keane and Evra fall in the same category.

He definitely is really loud and obnoxious. I was in Nandos and he was there with all his mates and he was acting like a proper bellend. Admittedly this was about 10 years a go so he might have mellowed but he put me right off my peri peri chicken that day.

He is too loud. I don't want to be an old fart but he takes up too much of the room. He also rambles and his points can be muddled.

He's there because he's qualified (ish) to talk about:

City
Villa
Leeds
England
Racial issues
Italian league (big stretch here!)

And because he's cheerful, possibly cheap, and willing to turn up as often as they want him (judging by the number of different places he pops up). I guess they're looking for a Wrighty alternative / replacement maybe.

Doesn't know much about football though.

He's okay and seems a nice enough lad. A girl I know used to be crazy about him. I think she actually was messaging him for a while. That said Fellaini was trying to get into her when he was at United.

Same. He’s a laugh and brings a new age to some of the drone-like punditry on SS in the recent 20 or so years.

One pundit I’ve liked recently is Darren Bent too

Lovely bloke and an absolutely useless pundit. Not heard one decent bit of punditry from him, ever.

Did you meet Januzaj there as well ? Winner winner chicken dinner

I really wish BT Sport never cancelled EFS. Those guys knew a thing about football

Absolutely. Dion Dublin was on a show the other day, I don’t understand why he isn’t on more, very good. But Richards is a nice guy and offers nothing, not even the “oh this is cool cos he was a top player” vibe which, let’s be honest, is the reason we put up with the bland comments literally anyone could make from most of the others.

Fully committed to Homes under the hammer.

He’d be fantastic on soccer am or some similar show... as a pundit he literally has no idea! It’s like he panics and just says what pops into his head!

He's as useless as pretty much all other pundits, but at least he brings a good attitude, his laugh was really annoying at first but I can actually enjoy his good humor now. I would say Sky could do better, but I really have zero expectations with any pundits. They're all awful in their own way, Micah is just another variation of that.
