Reading Jose's comments about Mata, Rashford and our entire attacking options I think this thankfully wont be on the agenda this summer, nor will any attacker.

It would mean 4-2-3-1 with Ozil as the #10 and Pogba stuck deeper, Ozil isn't strong enough to play in a proper midfield 3 like Silva is doing at City, which some seem to think is realistic.
 
Going purely by Jose's comments, I don't think we are looking for another attacker this summer but I can't imagine us leaving the #10 shirt vacant as Zlatan is about to leave.

But looks like we are going 4-3-3 which is the best for the squad I believe

Jim White on talksport this morning saying reports coming from Germany that Ozil has renewed with Arsenal.

Reported to be offered 350k/week. Don't know too many clubs that can afford those wages for a 29 year old. Probably just Utd, City and PSG and they're already well stocked in the AM department. He'll also go down as an Arsenal legend. Thats got to count for something, I guess.

Maybe because he is just very happy with his life in london and winning a couple of bundesliga titles isn't that important to him? Could be many reasons why he'd stay besides wages.

Not so much a lack of ambition as a lack of options, IMO. As far as the PL clubs are concerned: Hazard/Fabregas are the main creative force for Chelsea while City have KdB and Silva for the same role (nevermind the fact that Ozil can't fit in any team that applies high pressing). His only option would be United where he would be an instant upgrade on Mata but Mourinho stated yesterday that the Spaniard is a very important asset of the club and not only within the four lines of the pitch. Add to that the good wages he'll get at Arsenal and the good life in London. There's no room for him in the two Spanish clubs, Bayern or PSG either.

Was he linked to Bayern Munich lately? My impression is that any player from the Bundesliga Bayern want, they eventually get him. They had the opportunity to get him when his best footballing years were still ahead of him and they didn't show much interest. I don't see why they would be interested now.

No idea, but I'm sure his agent has had conversations with a lot of top clubs interested in signing him IF he runs down his contract.

For the FA cups, for staying with the team when other players jumped ship. Are you saying that only teams that win the PL are allowed to have legends?

I'm sure he did but i think it's a tough period of time for Ozil right now since most of the clubs that can afford his wages are pretty much stacked up in the attacking play-maker position. And many clubs nowadays apply some kind of pressing as their main tactic which is something that doesn't suit Ozil at all. His best option was United but Jose decided to stick with Mata because the latter is an important figure in the dressing room (Jose's words). He did the right thing for him and for Arsenal, IMO. If Hazard leaves for Madrid or if Jose decides that he can't do without an upgrade on Mata, Ozil will get his chance to win a major title and Arsenal will get some money too.
 
Between him and Mkhitaryan adding up with Wenger's complacency, its going to be fun watching who's more lethargic without the ball.

Mourinho specifically name dropped all of our attackers and omitted Zlatan when he said our attack couldn't be improved. I feel he's focusing on strictly getting a CM/fullback to improve us.

Said it all along. Lack of links else where we're telling. Good news for Arsenal.
 
Arsenal fans I knew were expecting this to happen. My assumption is he doesn't want to leave London and zero chance of him moving to another london club so he's best off staying put for at least one more season to see if the club can turn it around with the new signings.
 
As I said before if he stays its because he hasn't had an offer to go anywhere else

I think that we were probably very keen on Ozil, but when the Sanchez opportunity came up, that was a game changer and focus had to be switched to landing Sanchez instead of Ozil.
As already stated, Ozil cannot fit into a 4-3-3 if that's the direction that we are taking, and many of us hope that we are.

Yeah, and even if in some games we only play with 2 CM’s, Sanchez can play in the 10 position. Feel sorry for Ozil though, he is wasting his talent at Arsenal.

Not at all, just what qualifies for a Legend at Arsenal has severely dwindled.

Just out of interest if he ran down his contract and picked up a long term injury what happens? Is there a risk no club touches you and its career over?
