It's a fair point. It's a spoiled, egotistical, wankstain of a football club with no stability, the presence of an idiot in perez and they think they're God. The thing is too, Jose could be gone in a season or two - perhaps more. Short term it might be fine but they're definately spoilt

That's true, Mourinho will probably change that though.

That's a good point, if you weren't a United fan the prospect of Madrid with Jose is a rather compelling one.

They're also arguably the biggest club in the world. 9 CL trophies too? Not really that much of a shambles if you ask me.

Extremely egotistical and a cnut of a president, granted. But I dont think that would really put a player off. They're only interested in money, which they'll make plenty of, and challenging for titles, which they'll do. Plus their manager is not bad either.

How they got the first 5 was.

Take them away and they have 4.... not so impressive.

Mourinho will be gone in two years time.

Hopefully he'll be with us then! (If Fergie has retired at that point, I'd rather keep him forever obviously)

It is, but as Cnut said, he'll probably won't stay there for a very long time.

But I really do think that he will change alot at Madrid, even in such a short space of time. How it will look after he leaves, though, is anyones guess.

They are the club with the best history of any in the world, by a country mile. Regardless of their pathetic ownership, presidency etc, they are an amazing football club and are highly regarded worldwide, and rightly so. You're right in that the money and success often outweighs the long-term possibilities and probable harsh treatment, but to call them a shambles is pretty ridiculous.

I think its obvious that an auction of sorts is going on right now. And its a 2 way process - I think Ozil himself is having to decide which club he wants most as much as which club is willing to pay the most. I think that had alot to do with SAFs personal visit to see him at the weekend, applying his infamous personal touch that works so well when he is after a player.

I doubt very very very much that Ozil will remain a Werder Breman player by the end of the transfer window. And I really think we are favourites. Hopefully yesterday's signing of Bebe, which was conducted a breakneck speed shows that SAF has the finances to make signings. So that should not get in the way. I still reman confident that he will be in our shirt very very soon.

The thing with Madrid is that they stockpile players with no real idea of how they are going to use them. Buy a squad, and then try to find a team in there.

In other words the exact opposite of how a club with some stability would go about their business. Ozil could very easily decide to go there only to find his career stall for two seasons because he's competing with five other very good players for his position.

If you were a decent footballer, and a number of top clubs were after you, would you choose Real Madrid?

Real Madrid is in many people's eyes are the biggest club in the last century. It's certainly one of the most prestigious teams in the world, if not the most. If you can't see why it would appeal to any player in the world, then you have a serious problem.

To me it would be like getting the chance to occasionally have a bad lay with the most beautiful woman in the world, sharing her with lots of other men, instead of having amazing sex with another beautiful, quality woman.

Ar Real it's not enough to play the game you have to play the game off the pitch with all the politics etc that comes with being a Real player.

...which also you will be sharing with other men but in a well co-ordinated manner with a system and under the greatest manager of all time. :D

So another 13 pages, to add to the the deleted thread...?

Yet, literally nothing of note has happened in this "transfer saga".

Because I think it will be a case of trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole.

Excellent player, but doesn't seem to a Sir Alex type of player to me. He seems like a purely attacking midfielder, something that Sir Alex has very rarely used.

If we sign him, I reckon he will be played on the wing, which doesn't seem to me to be his natural position.

Absolutely this, I just can't see us signing an attacking midfielder completely incapable of playing any deeper than Berbatov. Look at the way Anderson and Gibson have played the role as our advanced midfielder in big games in recent years, if we were to sign anyone for the role I'm sure it'd be a player along those lines. This is why, while I don't really want us to sign anyone else, I still fancy Gourcuff as the best possible option if we do.

I agree with all of this.

haha brilliant.

Do 'em both I say.

Hmm, so that was a really crap ananlogy.

Not knowing about Bebe doesn't mean the ITK don't hear things about the more public transfers. Kind of like SAF praising Chivas for keeping the Chicha deal quiet. A lot of info does get leaked normally to ITK folks.

Though social media does make it harder to discern who really is ITK and who is just talking out of their arse.

United are renown for not having too many leaks regarding their real (as opposed to false) transfer targets. It's always said that the only two people who know the targets are Gill and Fergie. The point I am making is that the recent record of supposed United ITKs has been quite poor, which of course is true.

So how many public dealings have we done? Perhaps there is a coincidence the more public our transfers are the more we are forced to pay over the odds?
