Found this gem in response to his insane numbers:
”And not even a single mention of all the other offensive stats that he tops charts in without a fault. I.e. successful dribbles, key passes made, and chances created. This video shows how insane he is as a striker when it predominately comes to goalscoring. But where Messi truly departs from any former legend or modern "rival" is what he does in open play to build the attack.
He scores as much, if not more than Ronaldo, while also dribbling better than Ronaldinho, while finding pockets and passing through pressure better than Iniesta/Xavi, while also slotting long through balls better than Pirlo, and creating chances from a 3m square pass from as deep as his own DM/Busquets. And he's also one of the world's best free kick specialists. Dude is simultaneously playing striker, CAM, CM, and dropping back as far as his own DM to pick up the attack.
Like...there are numbers and then there is what actually happens on the field in 90mins. People can't really argue with the numbers, but they most certainly can't argue with how his game has progressed into the ultimate playmaker in these last 4-5 years. He's literally like an amalgamation of the best player from every offensive position. He can literally do everything on the offensive side of the ball and at the best level (aside from heading...lol). There is no equal here.
The only way cases can be made are if the data is targeted specifically for the UCL in total numbers (Ronaldo has more goals and assists). But even the X/90min goes in Messi's favor and to get to that level of discussion you drop the data sample size from like 600 appearances to like 100 appearances. Why would anyone ever choose to ignore the tens of thousands of minutes that Messi and Ronaldo shared in La Liga if they are truly trying to form an educated opinion. Because people can twist data in their favor and set aside data pools that don't favor their opinion.
Hence why all you need to do is just watch him play. It's pretty easy to determine his GOAT status when you watch him in 90 minute increments, and not form your opinions from YouTube highlight videos set to Danza Kuduro.”
