MEN: Cristiano Ronaldo holding the Manchester United dressing room together as players question Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Are we more of a laughing stock on or off the pitch? Hard to decide.
One of my friends said to me he couldn’t help but pity United. I’m fine with being hated and people wanting everyone to beat us but we’re just a joke right now

How absolutely weird and jarring must it be for Ronaldo to come back to the club in its current state compared to how he left it. It's just sad really.

Wasting time pissing about is annoying as it is, but it just feels an extra level worse having Ronaldo here.

At least he'll still help himself to 20-25 goals whatever crap we serve up.

How laughable is this, Ole needed Woodward, Ferguson and Ronaldo to defend him against the players just to keep his job. A manager who can't even win the players trust by himself and we are letting him continue coaching us.

What are you like when someone gives you pickles on your hamburger when you didn't ask for it?

Ronaldo to be caretaker manager! You heard it here first!

I wonder what sort of team he'd pick for himself.

It would be a criminal waste of the last years of Ronaldo if we didnt maximise the use of his abilities. He's been unlucky to have Pirlo and Ole as his last two managers. Deserves better. We can win the PL or CL with this squad with an elite manager in charge.

No-one said that and the person has been asked to not insult people.

Neither of you are City fans from what I gather?

We need to move on and stop derailing this thread.
It's ok then. You should have said that in your previous post btw.

No but if you've paid attention you'd see the harrasment and attack toward a newbie who support City. The insult was not toward me either but I do want to make this place a civilized one, that's all. Let's move on then.

I think realistically at some point bringing back Ronaldo at this point of his career there was going to fireworks.

As in all probability due to his age at some point over the next few years a manger is going to have to phase him out as a regular starter….. I can’t imagine that is going to go well and not be insanely disruptive to the team the club and manager(whoever it is).
Yeah agreed. That won't look pretty for sure unfortunately. But I do hope Conte would have what it takes to deal with, and our board will support him (seriously doubt so given the history).

Ronaldo
Telles Fred McTominay Pogba Rashford
Shaw Maguire Lindelof AWB
De Gea

Not sure how good Rashford's cross is, but his charm is undeniable, so he'd give him the go.

How’s about not downing tools at all? Not now, not under a new manager. Christ.
This is the problem I have, we know Ole is 100% not good enough but some players have also got the complete wrong attitude and have to take a large part of responsibility for some results this season.

Too many times we have seen some of these players down tools under managers now, they need to remember they play for the crest of the shirt first and foremost.

This is exactly what I think. My kids were delirious when he came and couldn't understand my stand. They're now slowly taking notice but as always with most Ronaldo fans there is a caveat and that is Ole, Fred, McTominay, etc. Greenwood is definitely the future and should be the priority going forward.

I would say even Cavani is more useful to the present than Ronaldo.

I mean I was happy when he came too but the way he can't even rotate with Cavani like we did against Everton just shows how much of an egotistical player he is.

That Everton game showed everything for me. The mistake was from Fred- but ultimately we had complete control of the football vs Everton whilst Cavani was on the pitch; we were literally playing tiki taka possesion football because Everton were doing nothing vs us.

On comes Ronaldo and we loose all our control our team had and then Everton grab their control and Fred makes a mistake - bang, a goal.

He is just a poacher now and we got to know when to use him but he is too big, it's seen with how the fans talk about him and protect him.

He is more important than every other player in our squad, because ultimately they have started to blame everyone else except Ronaldo himself.

Good post. Very easy to see what he brings and what he doesn't bring to this team and his team mates and what his team mates has to bring for him. However people have not realised Ronaldo is a different version to the player who even joined Juventus 2 or 3 years ago.

I value his goals and he would be a great player to be part of the squad- but the whole "build the bloody team to get the best out of a 36 year old" is absolutely nuts. Crazy shit. He has come here and said he will not tolerate being on the bench and he is too good not to play the full 90 mins - which I think is bullshit because he is a very basic poacher now that has the ability to do what is required in the last 15 mins of a game rather than spending the whole 90 doing shit all. The guy left us in his prime and has come back and people are treating him as if he is in his prime.

Everyone has turned to blaming every single other player in our club like a young diamond of a player like Greenwood just because of their protection of the one major difference to us last year.
Well said.

That same newbie City fan you're referring to made this post:

And you, a football supporter who knows how City play and who knows that all City players press and nobody gets guaranteed game time, could be naive enough to believe that comical little rumour that Mendes put out to panic United into agreeing a ludicrous salary?

And, even funnier, you’re now stuck with an old boy who’s become so lazy that he’s the football equivalent of a one legged man in an arse kicking competition

And, even funnier than that, you didn’t even learn the lesson from your panic buy of past-it Sanchez

It’s like Groundhog Day - you’re the gift that never stops giving!

He knew exactly how it would be recieved by the United fans on here. He got exactly what he wanted.

I'm sure getting a couple of United to support him was a sweet little bonus though.

Aye. I used to troll my Liverpool friend for many years. Then the situation reversed and he did the same with me. Now, he didn’t even bother writing to me after the humiliation, it is just not worthy anymore. We are now pathetic, something to have pity on.

When did you go from this
For Barcelona you can choose Messi but for any other team choosing anyone over Ronaldo would be a stupid decision.
Seriously Ronaldo at his peak was great for 2 years but ultimately it was 2 years.

Ifs, buts, could have, would have but didnt.

Effin' Cristiano Ronaldo is ripping the world apart and the leagues apart entering the age of 36 years old.

Not a single year was he shit.

Not a single year except maybe his starting years and even then he was more skilful than he was the statistical type of player he is now.

Fat Ronaldo had off form due to injuries or at one point even physique.

How people value the 'art of dribbling' so highly in football is pretty crazy to me - to me in the modern game and the day we live in the mental health and mindset of a professional footballer is one of the most important thing I can ever recognise if not the most & no one beats Cristiano Ronaldo's.

To this? Is it just from the few games he has played under the direction of Ole? The fact that you thought so highly of him when he wasn't at United could only mean he isn't being played the way he should by Ole. He was obviously being utilized correctly by other managers so he really can't be the issue if he's was producing results under a different coach.

I feel the same and I don't think it's an illegitimate feeling. The guy was everyone's favourite for 6 years, loved by everyone, left and became a legend of the game itself.

He comes back and now there's a risk of that memory and great relationship being tainted.

Imagine; the overarching feeling Ronaldo and the fans associate with his 2nd stint, could be disappointment.

What a mess
He should have demanded the club signed a CDM. Without one the signing makes no sense. It’s like having a footballer without any midsection, just a bunch of legs and a strong upper body!

In such control that we were 1-0 up.

Then concede from our own corner, in which Fred has 2 stabs to either foul, tackle, slide it out, or in fact do anything but what he did.
Meanwhile the defence was totally caught out.

Yet somehow that was Ronaldo's fault?

We obviously need a good tactical approach. That is the one huge issue we have.
We can all blame individual players, but generally when all of them are looking sub par, it's the manager.

Aye, I think it's fair to criticise Ronaldo but he seems to be getting the blame for the whole team from some people. We've had these problems since before he arrived.

Morale: SAF
Man management: Ronaldo
Tactics: McKenna
Coaching: Carrick
Shorts and Miscellaneous: Phelan
Transfers: Murtough and Fletcher

That leaves Ole with…press conferences? I mean if even half of the leaks are true, that is.

How many people did you get with this  . Not gonna lie at first glance I bit, but read through thread and caught white text. Prime biting material mate
Around eight people I think. I was going to tag them all but I couldn't be bothered. I'm surprised so many people have fell for it, all seem very angry too.

If you disagree with him then attack his post, not the poster.

And tbh I don't think he's wrong or said anything that crossed the line here.

For example some guy went mad with the word "old boy". True that's 37 yo is not old, but it's quite old for a footballer. I saw many here called Matic (33), Cavani (34) old and none raised an eyebrow?

I'd posted on my Instagram story a post when he was about to sign for City.

It's went along the lines of this.

Ronaldo is only signing for City because no other club could financially offer him what he needs and is needing a striker at this time. He might sign for City but they need to remember, we had the best of him, they are welcome to the worst of him. Refusing to be subbed, has to play every week.

I had to delete it pretty quick once it looked like he was signing for us and I have since been swept up in the Ronaldo fanfare.

Reality is my original statement is now looking correct and my Spurs supporting mate reminded me of it only last week.

Jadon Sancho hasn’t scored one goal or gotten one assist but I hear nothing said about him does Ronaldo not get time to settle in as well?

Jason Sancho is early 20's and never played in the Prem.

Ronaldo is the world best player.

We can't compare them as equal. Look in a fully functioning side Ronaldo would be fantastic but we're a mess and at times we are carrying his lack of work rate.

It’s early days for him he has yet to get used to playing with teammates yet.

Ronaldo hasn’t played in the league for 12 years I think even he should be allowed a little time to adjust.

Are you implying we should take a more long-term view about a 36 year old? Maybe when he hits 37, before the end of this season, everything will click into place?
I think we should take more than a handful of games were he’s still getting used to the manager, players and league.

If you watch PSG Messi isn’t exactly pulling up trees either.
