Then the press will say that ETH has lost the plot by dropping his star man who scored 30 goals for him just last season. He can win by benching Rashford on Wednesday and Saturday.

If Sancho refuses to have his name put as the source then yes Luckhurst should wave him away.So British press should boycott us and refuse to put any news regarding us on their websites. They should stop coming to PL mandated press conferences. They should act as if we don't exist.
If Sancho (hypothetically) comes to Luckhurst and says I have a spicy inside news about United, Luckhurst should ask Sancho to do one.
i think the press are turning on Rashford now, or at least wont defend the undefensableThen the press will say that ETH has lost the plot by dropping his star man who scored 30 goals for him just last season.

I doubt this has much to do with the manager, who’s never appeared particularly bothered by vexatious questioning in press conferences.Definitely not. I also don't like when manager's just ban journalists, but this isn't their core business and I would never say one should be sacked (or not) based on such things. Nonetheless I like it much more when a manager gives a shit journalist a proper hairdryer treatment (which SAF also did). It achieves essentially the same thing but looks less insecure when you look your enemy in the eye.
If they write an article about something internal there is a high probability the club can verify it
Good. Fed up of these journalists and feeding these player leaks
The last time Rashford was as useless as now he got his pals to put out statements that his poor form was due to him not playing on left wing and cutting on his favorite right foot. All the while ignoring he was poor even when he was playing on the left wing. I'd imagine he will get similar statements out this time around as well. Blaming everyone else except himself.Be real though, no they won’t.
Rashford has made the fans too angry for his pals in the media to win with that narrative.
same as how no one in the media dared question fan sentiment for getting rid of Sancho
Last season’s last season. I think most fans look at this season and think he’s been average to poor. Most journalists think that tooThen the press will say that ETH has lost the plot by dropping his star man who scored 30 goals for him just last season.
The press is incredibly hostile towards Manchester United both because we have an antagonistic past with them AND negative press generates huge clicks for them. That's never going to change, and with the likes of Lineker, Neville etc taking money from the Middle East, it likely never will. This is incredibly naive of United. Fergie could go apocalyptic at the press because the British press needed United more than United needed them. That is sadly no longer true. The press control the narrative. A more saavy institution would understand this. I've been hammering about this for years in the refereeing/VAR thread. If you think that Klopp's reaction to decisions - in the press - do not influence matches, you're wrong.
Facts they can verify. People's opinions and feelings, not so much.
I'm not supporting ETH's decision to keep playing Rashford. In fact I want him to be sold. It's just that, it is going to be the narrative from the press to further paint a picture of crisis at United.Last season’s last season. I think most fans look at this season and think he’s been average to poor. Most journalists think that too
I don’t care who plays, just that United win.
If Ten Hag picks poor players in awful form, JUST to avoid possible press headlines, then he isn’t the manager we (or any club really) want.
Should just quietly say to Rashford “form hasn’t been great, you’re sub but door open”.
If you don't understand that the media and football are incredibly intertwined, you don't understand the game. It's not just a sport anymore, it's about narrative, hype and above all entertainment - that's what pays the bills.

City basically buy the press. Beautiful receptison for them, lovely spreads at games, lots of pampering - and lo and behold, the press treat them accordingly. By antagonising the press - especially right now - all we're going to do is increase the negativity, increase the pressure on ETH and increase the feeling of players that do read the news that it's beyond repair.
It's an own goal of the highest order - and fits right in with how we're run these days.
The British press are one of the most detestable groups on the face of the planet, but ignoring their impact is just stupid.

You clearly don't understand the reason they were banned do you.....It shouldn't be allowed. You can't ban journalists because you don't like their stories.
If a report says the club staff believe Rashford is struggling with mental health issues (as was reported last week) and the club staff says its not true, then of course the club can verify it.
Some of the staff may think that and deny it wheb the club asks, as the alternative would be like admitting they talked to the press.
better late than never. No idea why Cuckhurst wasn't banned a decade ago. cnut of the highest order.
Doubling down on their story
Our role is that of a concerned friend. Our preference is to move on.
It isn't about not liking their stories, it's about journalists spreading gossip and destabilising the dressing room at a time that suits them getting their clicks and kicking the club when it's down. What does their clickbait nonsense serve to do other than try and sow more disharmony in the club. That Luckhurst guy is a complete cretin, always forcing something negative in his rag against us, should have banned him long ago.It shouldn't be allowed. You can't ban journalists because you don't like their stories.
He’s deserves to be sacked if he selects Rashford tomorrow nightHe can win by benching Rashford on Wednesday and Saturday.

Probably have to sell a couple of players then.they are correct though, why dont they kick the leaks out of the club

This isn't to say every story from journalists should have forced positivity, but the way they are so eager to stick to the boot in when it suits them.. its no wonder the club is pissed. Do you see it about any other club?
Sure. Name the source.they are correct though, why dont they kick the leaks out of the club
thats what a cesspit the club is, they could do it but let it continue in the name of financesProbably have to sell a couple of players then.

The problem is that they obviously don't need to participate in press conferences to write stories, as they have sources inside the club (or at least convincingly claim so). Banning Luckhorst and others won't stop them from writing articles about United, so they won't have any less engagement by this decision. But the press are total cnuts when it comes to United - someone above has said that it's changed and United need the press more than they need United. That's total bollocks, we are by far the biggest generator of engagement
Doubling down on their story
What they 'faithfully' report is pure fiction aimed at causing unrest and problems for the club, as it generates clicks for them."We have a responsibility to the readers who place such trust in us to faithfully report what we know and what we see," Manchester Evening News editor Sarah Lester writes
So the old guard don’t like the players EtH brought in. Makes it a short list of who is doing the shit-stirring.Basically the players hate Martial, they’re starting to hate Rashford, they think Amrabat, Antony, Hojlund, Mount and Weghorst are shit and don’t rate ETH or his tactics.
