Was he there player of the year? I’m not sure but I’m confident he wasn’t. He was an important players but yet again not the main guy. Tell me R9 wasn’t the main guy at his age? Tell me Michael Owen wasn’t. I like Mbappe but I continue to have this debate that he’s not a phenomenon and there will be players around his age who will match and probably surpass him as he’s not that elite compared to the rest.
He’s talent on Physicality not ability. You want to witness pure talent watch Paul Pogba tonight. That’s world class ‘talent’.
What did Ronaldo win when he was at that age? Naught in club level, a world cup when he played 0 minutes. Easier to be the big fish in a small pot.
Mbappe is easily in top 3 of the best young players I have seen in my lifetime (together with R9 and Messi). Hard to know how things will turn out, but I don't see any other young player who is anywhere near as good as him. He's a couple of levels ahead of the rest.
I believe Mbappé is a better player but the bolded part is idiotic.
At 17? Campeonato Minero and Copa do Brasil. Scored over 40 goals in as much games. 17 at PSV the cup and again 50 something goals in as much games. Was 1996 FIFA World Player of the Year at the age of 20 with double the amount votes, same age as Mbappe now.
Mbappe is IMO more comparable to Owen as of now, than to Ronaldo.
Was talking for Mbappe's Monaco season, when he had just turned 18. That is more or less (slightly before) when R9 moved to Europe.

It's insane how a streak of games can suddenly turn a promising but very, very inconsistent talent to the next potential Balon d'Or winner (or the next Welbeck)...
Rashford has had a nice run since Ole was appointed, but it's ridiculous and borderline embarrassing to rank him amongst the world's top 3 young forwards currently. He needs to replicate that kind of form for another year (and just not for 2 months) at the very least to be considered anywhere near equal to someone like Mbappé. The likes of Dembélé and Sané also have had way, way longer and better runs of games...

But apparently you can overrate him.
My opinion of both players is that they seem to rely on their physical attributes. Something that doesn't really improve when you've tapped into it.
This may be it for both players. Not saying it's not a high level but their position at the top of the elite list will always be at risk against the Salah / Pogba / KDB etc of this world.
Those players who can spot a pass, dictate play etc who have endless scope to improve.
Mbappe scored 1 goal in 11 when he was 17. He settled up at 18 at Monaco - same age as Ronaldo who debuted at 17 for PSV.

Mbappe wins (quite convincingly) in all other categories bar fouls (where Rashford wins marginally).

What Ronaldo did was actually carry a country to a World Cup final at 20. Actually ‘win’ world player of the year and had Ronaldo Messi like goal scoring stats. You can’t put Mbappe in this bracket. It’s a joke.
It is a bit rubbish - especially the first two which compared games and minutes played. Rashford is older so naturally is highly likely to play in more games (and as a consequence, more minutes) anyway.

Mbappe was better than Rooney at the same age. I never bought that Rooney was even better than Cristiano at that age, let alone R9.

This is, two of the categories that Rash won are totally irrelevant. Leon Osma, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Bebbe would have won those too.
The third one that it won it was fouls against, and it was marginal.
Otherwise, the video just showed that stats wise, Mbappe is much ahead. And on the eye test, he is even further ahead.

Rooney sh!ts on Mbappe at 18. I hate the way we disrespect Wayne Rooney. They guy fell off early but so did Gascoigne. Yet one is a living English legend whilst the record breaker is treated just like another guy.

I already told you. Based on the last 2 years, it has been:
1. Mbappé
2./3. Sané/Dembélé
Then there is Sancho who has been extraordinary for Dortmund and could easily get to top 3 if he can keep up this level this season. Even Coman has been more consistent when he wasn't injured. The problem with Rashford is, he is just coming from a very, very long patch of underwhelming performances. If he can at least keep that level for another year, then yeah, he will be up there.
Because he was constantly played out wide and even then you could see his improvement.

Explain to me what Dembele has done with his career to be rated higher than Rashford the man is drawing at the top level. Sane is a great talent but Mbappe, Martial and Rashford are your elite, the rest still need a lot of work and are nowhere near as mature as these three. Rose tint me if you want.
No, he doesn't. Scored less, won much less (in fact, won a Carling Cup by that stage), and didn't even make Ballon d'Or ranking while Mbappe ended fourth.
By every metric which isn't 'I am English/United fan' Rooney at 20 was not as good as Mbappe at 20.
Young player being inconsistent is not a shock. How hard is it to get though that Mbappé (and some more) have been way, way less inconsistent than Rashford AND having played on a similar or higher level than Rashford's form has been in the last 2 months... Even the kind of Brandt or Bailey have shown that kind of form for a few months...

Stats wise maybe not. But you have to remember a 20 year old Rooney was being hailed as the white Pele for a reason. He really was that good. That said, i'm a huge Mbappe fan, and I believe him to be the best young attacking talent on the planet. But Rooney was just incredible at that age and he was dicking on defenders 10 years his senior in a much, much harder league.
Mbappe will ultimately be hurt by playing in France if he stays there too long.
