PSG is a compete career-killer. Look at Neymar. Or Verrati. Even Thiago Silva back in his day. These players are, were or should be right at the top of the game, regarded as the best in their positions and competing for the top individual honours (in spite of how shallow they may be). They weren't and aren’t. Not fully.

A few Ligue 1 titles are guaranteed. A stab at the toughest competition in the business, yes, but no certainty to win it. But in terms of creating a legacy? There’s sod all there. Even Zlatan, who was a genuinely brilliant player, never really had the credit his talent may have merited. How could he? He spent his best years pratting about in France. A league that (in relative terms) nobody cares to watch.

I know many of you lot get stiff at the prospect of hammering the club you support (United). But there is still a romance about United. There’s still that opportunity to really live in the memory. And if that isn’t appealing, due to footballing circumstances surrounding the club, then go to Barcelona. An equally great club, influenced by the ideology of the club he’s rumoured to leave.

I always give people stick for forgetting that footballers are human beings, not robots. But feck me, go to Barcelona. Go to United. Go to Madrid, or Juventus. But don’t go to PS bloody G, for a few years of relative nothingness.
Agreed, look at Veratti and Thiago Silva, they are not regarded as the best anymore although they would be in any top Spanish, English, German club. And you can’t get out of there!

It was sort of said in Jest.
I more just mean. I hope the lad shows some ambition.
He could easily start for a lot of clubs, it's not has if he'll have a better chance at PSG for whatever reason.
I guess it depends how it’s being sold to him.. lots of money and free trophies and play in a good team until he’s ready to move somewhere else in 4 years? I guess it sounds promising.

Letting the muppet juices flow here, a back four of AWB (21), De Ligt (19/20), Lindelof (24), Shaw (22), this could be the backbone for the next 5-6 yrs, building that cohesive, singular unit to the defence, each learning exactly how the rest work.

PLEASE don’t choose PSG, come to us and help rebuild!

Believing De Ligt is coming here is like dumping your missus and her thinking you're still keen after a year of no contact.

Really don't want to believe this as I am as excited as I am skeptical whether it's the right move with the wage structure etc but...

I think if the decision was between us and Barca and he would be guaranteed a starting place at both he'd be an absolute muppet not to choose Barca. However, same scenario with us and PSG and I think he may well choose us. He doesn't sound much like the normal plastic football type you can get, he seems pretty legit that he wants to work and be part of something.

He has the choice between being PSG's shiny new toy and being bored shitless in a few years playing a basic level of football in the league (see Neymar) or he can take a bit of a risk (but not much of one because he's 19 and can move again in 3-4 years) and come to United. Possibly the start of something awesome, a young team if OGS sticks to his transfer ethos, decent money, massive club, huge fan club and he would be a borderline GOD if he was a success.

Maybe.

If somehow we pull of AWB and DeLigt do we then move to the Sancho thread or is that just too much muppet for even the most muppetiest of us?

I fear this is going to end in heartbreak but I’m all in.

Lindelöf is going to be an absolute beast next season, no reason to upgrade him, he is his own upgrade

Do people really think we have a chance? I’m all for muppetry but even muppetry must have a limit. There is no way he’s coming here. He’s just using our potentially huge money contract offer to get someone else to pay him a little bit more. As is usually the case with us right now.

It is most probable that he is not coming here but the one factor that will always give hope to the muppet legions is that he is represented by Raiola who is synonymous with transfer shenanigans and loves to be center of attention by doing the unexpected. Raiola also loves cash and he surely knows that if de Ligt winds up at Barca or PSG it is very likely he will spend the rest of his career there denying him the chance to cash in on another fat transfer whereas if he comes here then he fancies his chances of engineering a move in 3 or 4 years time.

Whilst there’s logic to that it’s not as if the player doesn’t have a choice innwhere he moves. For De Ligt, I’m struggling to see how it’s even possible for him to consider us given the teams currently in for him. Sadly we aren’t the team of 10 years ago which could very much compete for guys like this both from a financial and non-financial perspective.

The guy has a section on his page where he pays people for "breaking transfer stories" and people are clinging onto what he's saying. He's the only 'journalist' who is pushing De Ligt to United, the rest have all jumped on PSG.

Oh dear... Doesn't sound promising.

Desperate times call for desperate muppets.

I will ship you a beer in the mail after the season ends if we end the season without Lindelöf being hailed as one of the best Man United players of the season
Appreciate the sentiment but since I can’t drink I’ll settle for an acknowledgement
