There's certain players I don't rate but Darmian is a lost cause altogether.
Surely Mourinho can see how bad he is? Fail to see how TFM or Tuanzebe can't get a game at right back over him.

I actually thought he would be better playing RB today cos he could overlap and wouldnt have to cut back. But he was actually worse. He is just a poor player for United.
I'm absolutely convinced there must be a decent player in there somewhere, he managed to get himself a good reputation playing for Torino and Italy. What has happened I don't know but he looks and acts like a meek, overwhelmed individual. Maybe he needs some confidence but I can't imagine him coming good at United. His performances range from pretty decent to rabbit in the headlights sh*t and he just hasn't shown a high enough level at any point during his stay. I'd rather have Ashley "No bird ever shat in my mouth" Young at FB than him and I am not his biggest fan.
If he could consistently produce his decent performances he might merit a squad role but the fact that you just don't know what you are going to is not a good trait for a defender that should be entering his peak.

I can't believe people can claim that he is reliable in defence but poor in attack. I've never seen a player walked past and beaten so often due to a complete lack of physicality.

Just said in another thread. It's a disguise in blessing. This is a very strong team we fielded and Hull could nearly get something out of it. Almost everyone were shocking one way or another. Our youngster can have their United career ended being part of this team if they just put a foot wrong.
Darmian was shocking if we compare to Valencia (our best full back), and have several flaw in his game. One huge mistake is his clearance into incoming Hull player(quite some bad habit) and weak in 1 vs 1.... However, he is most solid one with discipline keeping a defensive line compare to other 3 this games. Rarely he failed to play offside trap! I am not say he's one of our best defenders. Just saying I believe his discipline is what Mourinho likes about him.
Darmian is basically the wide CB for a back 3 which we sort of play when Valencia plays as a winger. Looked terrible today as neither Rojo or Darmian provided any attacking support. Jose choosing pragmatism over risking giving young TFM a shot. Clearly he's concerned about TFM's positioning or something otherwise we'd have seen him play.
That's a trademark performance of his to be honest.
He won the ball back at one point and I actually remarked ''well done some actual defending'' because I cant remember the last time he did anything of note.
Yup... people walk past him at times... so the defensively good thing doesn't fly for me. He does some okay defending at times, but he is not reliable in any way, shape or form.
If we can get any Serie A club to buy him in january we should take the offer as Young can easily replace him as cover at left and right back.
His cross for Fellaini to score against Hull in the first leg may be the only positive he's contributed all season.
I don't even remember that to be honest, its like he is so non descript that I probably remember it as the ball crossing itself.

His physical attributes are below average. He is slow, he is weak and he doesn't seem to have much of an engine to run up and down the flank either.
His technical attributes are decent, but he can't do much with the ball in tight corners.
His defending is weak and is the easiest defender in our squad to get past one on one. I'm not convinced about his positioning either, and having played cb previously in his career, his aerial ability is shocking.
His attacking is atrocious, not just below average. He doesn't find space in attack, and he has no chance of running into space, and if he by some miracle manages to do that because both winger and fullback did a Stevie G and slipped, then his crossing is woeful.

I'm struggling to honestly remember a more pointless signing. What infuriates me so much with him is he can't even do the basics right. I could tolerate him more if he could actually pass/have composure/read the game, but he fecks up so much and is found wanting so many times it's unreal. Really need to offload ASAP.
