Mathys Tel | on his way to SPURS. He’s going to Spurs lads. SPURS

Where does one find a 30 goal a season number 9 when we are skint, up against it with PSR, have no one to sell and have about 12 hours to go in the window?
Okay, so lets agree on an obligation to spunk 60m on somebody nobody heard of 7 days ago. Who plays in the same position as Garnacho, has scored the same amount of goals, but hasn't yet made a senior appearance for his national team!

How is that going to fix our issues?

It's just throwing good money after bad, and ruining any chance of getting the right one in.

Might as well wait until the summer for Gyokeres.

If we offered a plain loan, he'd be on his way to Manchester now
I find this extremely unlikely, it doesn't make sense.

It sounds like Bayern wanted loan and obligation, Tel pushed and they became more open to straight loan after our interest ended. Spurs seem to have picked it up.

It’s actually a sensible approach from Utd - conditions were not right and he isn’t what we wanted which will be in the summer.

Having another inexperienced kid to battle it out with Rasmus isn’t the answer if we have to accept conditions that we’re not suitable.

I reckon once we pulled out as not bowing to Bayerns demands they just called up spurs and said you can loan him for 4 months. Levy will see that as a win and spurs fans will be saying he snubbed us.

Unless there is something bubbling under that nobody knows about then we are in the same position tomorrow as we were yesterday.

Let’s hope that Dorgu and Shaw can help unleash the attack that can’t score…..

We're that desperate I'd be amazed we weren't wanting to take a punt on him on loan.

I don't think he's the answer or anything, just the scenario is weird AF.

How desperate we are depends on the club's perspective, really.

If they're largely happy to write the rest of this season off, we're not that desperate at all. We're just playing out the rest of a nightmare season before more transfer activity in the summer.

This seems like the kind of deal we could gazump fairly easily, has nobody thought to match Spurs' loan offer?

There's no point in bringing in a 19 year old loan striker that scores even less than ours if there's no option to keep him

Arteta driving a blacked out van to the airport as we speak

Fair point.

He's definitely scoring against us on his debut

The report about them already having agreed with Frankfurt on a straight loan that only fell through because Tel refused contradicts that narrative.

There must be more to this than has been reported so far. Spurs paying a stupid loan fee? All the reports said Tel wanted to join us and Bayern weren't prepared to accept a straight loan.

If Spurs can get him on a no obligation deal, why cant we?

Apparently Spurs manager rang him and explained how and where he wanted him to play. Player and agent happy with that

Then all hell breaks loose

No but seriously, an unproven teenager when you're suffering from unproven young striker syndrome doesn't help anyone

I mean it's a risk, but hey if one unproven teenager can score 10 goals, and another can score 2, I'd rather go with the one that can score 10 - even if it is just for the short-term.

And you can actually size him up to see if you want to make a move for him in the summer too.

He scored 12 goals his whole career

does Spurs even need him? They have Son already in his position, and surely Solanke is better up front than this kid

Thought all the talk was of him wanting to come to United. Guess that was bollocks

He never rejected United though...

He's going to a club he already rejected only now after the United option blew up in smoke

He's saying you're good for a shag but doesn't want to introduce you to his mates

Sure - but that's really all we need right now. In terms of front three, we can only really play three of:
  • Solanke+
  • Richarlison
  • Johnson+
  • Son
  • Odobert+
  • Maddison+
  • Kulusevski (though sometimes playing CM intead)
  • Soloman*
  • Veliz*
  • Moore
  • Min-Hyeok*
*= on loan, +=injured.

So considering out of 11 options, 8 of which are at the club, only 4 are available. Makes plenty of sense to loan a good player who can justify starting, rather than a 'meh' player who doesn't compete with the above.

Didn't want you anyway

Why are you offering 50m for a player worth less than that if you only needed a short term loan
