Matheus Cunha

He would be my dream signing (out of the realistic options right now). His drive and close dribbling would get us further up the pitch, he has the ability to cause problems, even if we were up against it in a game, and he is comfortable centrally and would give us a bit of unpredictablity in the 10 spot. I genuinely think he has another level in him and would hate to see him find it elsewhere.

Yeah those Arsenal links still seem to be there

He'd be a phenomenal signing for us. Surely out of our reach though.
I’d go all in for him in the summer. Once sancho as gone and Rashford then that frees up quite a bit of money. He’d fit perfectly in the number 10 role.

Himself and Amad would be immense in the 2 behind the striker. Still need a LWB to make it all work though.

There was so much doubt about Cunha when he was at Athletico as we were rumoured to be interested.

Why did he "fail" at Athletico?

Or has he just become focused now he took a step back to go to Wolved?

Rumours of United bidding for £70M players has be a thing of the past really...anyone with even a slight interest in football knows United's finances are a mess.

Make is believable, somewhere around £50M and it might be worth a click.
He cost them 50m, I think they’ll look for more

This is one of those rare signings where I already really like him as a player and theoretically he fits what we need extremely well. Would obviously be a disaster.

Mid table and signing a player from relegation candidates Wolves is “surely out of our reach”

My oh my what have we become

Is there any reason for Wolves to sell now when they're in a relegation battle when they can just sell in the summer and get the same or more money then?

And he'll probably have better offers than 12th placed United in the summer unfortunately.

Yeah I can't see him leaving in this window

Has thever ever been a credible link to us since he joined Wolves?
Cunha and Amorim embraced after the Wolves game and had what looked like a serious chat. I assumed done deal after that, which now looks like it was absolutely nothing.

They might have met up for dinner but then went their separate ways.

Player himself said he's flattered and you could tell he would be open to a move, but it's not realistic at the moment. Would take 60m+ whilst beating Arsenal and others to him.
As he would say with any high profile club.
It's not realistic at the moment because there has been no movement from us to sign him.
Nothing to see here.

Hard to say these days, different numbers everywhere! BBC and Sky Sports both saying £35m.

I guess it depends on multiple factors with both his contract status and Wolves PL status very much up in the air.

That said if he doesn't sign the new deal - which now looks like it might be the case - his contract's up in 2027 so Wolves might have their arm twisted into accepting lower than his true market value even if they stay up.

Good player, smaller club, probably relatively affordable, would hugely improve us, ticks all the boxes.................... No way we sign him.

I remember when there was news that Atletico wanted to offer him to us for £50m and nearly everyone on here roundly turned their noses up and dismised him like we were some super club with the best forward line in rhe world..

He would be our best player, besides (maybe) Bruno. Would fit the system like a glove on the left 10 and rejuvinate the team imo. Always a threat and a great ball carrier, seems to have become a constant goal-threat to add to that as well of late.
This idea of someone just coming in and automatically becoming our best player almost never happens.

Because he wasn't convincing back then and 50m is a huge fee. We also had no position for him in the old system. Also took him a while to show his qualities at Wolverhampton.

To be fair to us he didn't have a great record on paper at the time...I was baffled Wolves committed to pay so much for him, especially when he looked absolutely hopeless in front of goal for a forward when he first joined. Thought he would have to change to being a Joelinton type midfielder to be any sort of use in the Premier League but in the last year or so he's completely proved me wrong with how he's now adapted to the pace of the league and able to use the great technique he's clearly got.
