We need players who are mentally strong so they can deal with adversity. Does this guy fall into that category?
I've no idea, but agree that mentality along with a solid fitness record should be pre-requisites, before we even look at their tactical fit & potential.

I have no idea why we did not go for him this summer and went for Zhirkee, I loved the look of him, when we played last season first match and he destroyed us. I think he was also available for around 40 to 50M as well, now after the season he is having, we will likely have our pants down.

Another player that should be on our radar is Ferguson (Brighton), he is having a stop start season and not being as effective this season, but there is a player there and we could get him for a reasonable amount this summer. Joa Pedro is another from Brighton which really impressed when we played them this season.

You don't survive playing in Brazilian league without being phisically and mentaly strong.
The schedules are a nightmare (brazilian clubs are the clubs who play more games on a season), dealing with heavy amounts of shithousery from the opponents almost every match and not to mention that the fans will make sure you will feel the pressure if things go wrong.

If Ferguson wasn’t Irish no-one on here would want him. Last thing we need is another striker that doesn’t score goals.

He's a very good player but the last thing we need is another mentally fragile hot-head in the team.

Wow just heard this, he only got two games. I thought they would stretch it out to at least five minimum. He’s very lucky and bad precedent set by the FA now.

Bloody hell,an elbow to the back of the head gets you a 2 game ban plus pocket change.

One of those games is an FA Cup that he probably wouldn't have started anyway

He's got off lightly and it's ridiculous how long it took the FA to come up with this decision

ridiculously light ban

As for buying him, would love to would instantly add so much to our midfield, but do not think Wolves would want to sell, we cannot afford to make a ridiculous offer, cannot see him wanting to run to utd in our current state, will probably have lots of more established suitors in the summer

The manager has come out and effectively said that they wouldn’t stand in his way in his career progression. That doesn’t mean that Wolves wouldn’t fleece us if we made a bid.

When you say fleece… they will obviously want money commensurate with risk to themselves and their predicament should he leave this window. I don’t think it’s unfair to state Cunha staying or going could be the difference between survival and relegation for them. It’s a massive gamble on their end to take the money.

I was assuming a summer move, no chance we go for him in this window.

IMO they won’t sell this window. Why would they? He’s got a contract until 2027 and they’re in a relegation fight. They’ll almost certainly wait until at least next summer.

Ruling himself out of a move to a bigger club. Long term contracts in the premier league where clubs aren’t starving for money makes it too difficult for clubs like Arsenal and us to sign him.

Could have put in a release clause.

Could have put in a release clause.
Yeah it could be an increased wage to get him to commit to stay until the end of the season and help them avoid relegation, with a fair release clause set for the summer.

What price do you think that clause would be at? £70m? I'm assuming they'd want to make profit.
I would guess £70-75m yeah. They signed him for 50m (not sure if that’s £ or € though).

He’s staying at Wolves until he past his prime unless if they get relegated then.

Players signing long term contracts are placing huge faith in their current manager and nothing bad to happen at the club. Plus they are ruling themselves out of a move when they might want to

I still think he's gone at the end of the season. Wolves have to sell every summer - a new contract will just stop him angling for a move this month.

Yeah, I still think he leaves too. This will just push his price up even higher. The Wolves owners are very tight, and sell to buy seems to be their mantra.

United should find out the details of his deal so they know what wage he'll accept, madness on his part to stay with them given the interest from far bigger and wealthier teams unless there's a specific release clause.

Probably gets a comparative salary to one he would receive at Arsenal. Cheaper housing. Maybe happy to play another year and half as the maverick after finally finding his footing.
Wolves dont seem to stand in players way. So lets say by 28 he gets his next move.

By which point, a smart club wouldn’t touch him for the 70m they probably want. There will be a handful of new 23-25 y/o AMs that would be much better investments.

This summer really is the perfect time for him to move and for his prospective club to get value for money.

Then he goes to Saudi. Alot of Brazilian playersare more motivated by final earnings.
Looking at Richarlison, Jesus, Antony - the big moves havent paid off.

I think people fail to realize that PL clubs all have financial power now and can offer very competitive wages

Just read the FA's report of the incident and their investigation. It's an absolute joke. Cunha basically saying he felt surrounded and threatened by the ITFC staff but the commission has said they don't agree with him as from the video evidence there was no provocative actions from the ITFC staff. However he said sorry and offered to buy his victim and new pair of glasses so the FA have reduced it from a three game ban to a two game ban.

Fecking bonkers! Next time someone flykicks an opponent in the chest and gets red carded, maybe just apologise and get a reduced ban. The FA are idiots and has set a precedent for leniency for violent conduct towards staff members now.
